horrorflesh, that is because you don't understand the music of Springsteen, he is a modern day troubador, he is a story teller...it has to have WORDS, if you are looking for just music, check out Yanni.
I really wish that i loved Springsteens music, because its all so right, but i cant find a home in his music, theres to much words and story, and so less music. Its like the music is just a backdrop for his lyrics.
heard bruce end a madison square garden concert with this number ... everyone was singing it out of the penn station train on the way back to Jersey ..!
Just got screwed outta Springsteen tickets by ticketmaster yet again. Had it timed as soon as they went on sale and its completely sold out. Somehow stubhub already has thousands on sale at exagerated bruce. Ticket agencies are the biggest frauds goin. THEY TAKE CARE OF THEIR OWN . I wrote my congressman and I hope my fellow bruce fanatics do the same. Its time for a change. VIVA LA RESISTANCE. VIVA LA BRUCE!!!!!!!!!!!!!
@hammontontvmedia That's him!!! I remember seeing an interview with him long ago. His wife had a baby, and they brought it into a rehearsal. Bruce was very taken with it and was holding it and going goo goo kitchy coo. Mr. Clemons said he knew at that moment that Bruce had fallen in love with fatherhood and wanted to have kids. That was when he married Julianne, only it didn't work out.
I'll confess I've never been a big fan of the mandolin chorus, but holy smokes do I love this song.
I especially love the callback to "People Get Ready", it fits perfectly with the message of the song, and the "This Train" imagery. Beautiful. Like secular Gospel music, only I'm not positive on the secular part.
Wow, halfway through, I could see Bruce going toward Curtis Mayfield's song, "People Get Ready"! If you haven't heard that song by that late great visionary, check it out on You Tube.. it's here somewhere!
Nothing else even comes close. Been a fan since '75 the Capital Theater Passaic, NJ days, raised my three kids on his music and they thank me everyday,

You're right, it's one of his best song. But, remember, today we have to buy, buy, and buy only !
Music is a product today, not an Art. And Bruce isn't for sale, I belive. So, the capitalism i FUCKING SYSTEM !
