Here's the thing, Sonnen couldn't finish Silva when Silva was trying to submit him. Silva's BJJ isn't as good as Belfort's. Sonnen has even said, Belfort is the toughest fighter in the middleweight division, putting him up there with guys he respects such as Damien Maia and Nate Marquardt. I couldn't see Sonnen even dominating a match between the two. There are twenty ways I could see Belfort win, and two I could see Sonnen win. A flash KO, or he lays on Vitor like a wet blanket for 15 minutes.

it really isnt about adjusting to the crowd to be entertaining, from the get-go this sport was about showing you that flashiness isnt as effective as the boring basics
that being said, vitor is right, crowds dont like lay and pray fighters or guys that grind decisions instead of trying to finish. wrestling is the best base and the high level wrestler that chael is, its understandable that he fights that way. but to appeal to people he has to either tighten up his strikes and subs, or talk shit.

chael says about the way anderson finished that fight of theirs, how he wrapped his legs around him and that he didn't win the fight but dude - he finished you - when was the last time you finished someone besides stann. chael "plays out" his fights but we all know that fights need to be finished . back in the old ufc, or in Pride days he would have the longest fights and probably would get submitted at the end, coz he couldn't finish a dead horse

If he is getting a rematch is because he knows how to sell fights, not because he deserves the rematch. It's the champions job to defend the title against any challanges put infront of him/her, and the fact that Silva is avoiding fights and picking his opponents is in my opinion outrages. I do agree however that Belfort and Sonnen should face eachother in a #1 contenders match, that way both will have a chance and Silva won't be able to avoid this one.
