thanks for posting I grew up in the 60's and loved the sitcoms, back when we could have humor without insulting anyone, making hurtful fun of anyone, and none of it had to be related to sex, or violence, some people today must wonder what we enjoyed in them? Taking into account TV in the last 20 years.
Yup, definitely Griffith Park. That clubhouse in the background shot gives it away. I played there from 2000 to 2009, so I know those [two] courses -- Wilson & Harding -- like the back of my hand.
i guess im gonna have to post now after 1 year of no posts we are not all dead yet..but close..i loved dream of jeanie and comedy nowadays is not true comedy like the old days.. me out ..i will be back
@MinisodeNetwork well i liked alot of the older sitcoms (i am what is refered to as (old school)i liked gilligans island, the flying nun, mchales navy, ftroop, mayberry rfd, gidjet, hogans heroes,pt182,or 183 i forget. but what i do know is i like your site !!!keep it up. also some old school movies that would be good would be tank,turk182, and defiance (about a trucker) good stuff
@cboardwoman We have some Flying Nun: /watch?v=B88_Y5l5weY and some Gidget episodes: /show/gidgetminisodes?pl=063FAB7E454A9765 Laugh-In is great, I have an old episode on *tape* at home, I should watch it. :-)
Yes, all five seasons (including a choice of "colorized" or original black and white season one episodes- although the original monochrome versions are HARD to find) ARE available on DVD, 'yourimage'... "box sets" and individual "seasons". Several websites and retail stores have them in stock.
Wait a minute! This is the colorized version! It was B&W the first season? Looks so good in color! The show I think was rather "Creaky" the first year! It was much better by season no.3!
As I've said before, Tony's stubbornness in not allowing Jeannie to help him out of tight situations (usually influenced by her, of course) was a recurring theme in Sidney Sheldon's scripts- he was a "master" at writing them without ever going stale. "Master's" attitude towards Jeannie was usually, "I don't NEED your help, I can handle this myself!" Of course, she often did...WE know what we'd like her to do for "us", and that's part of the fun.
I use to watch a lot of I Dream Of Jeannie when I was young, however, I am not familar with this episode from the first season. Is there any chances of seeing this episode" Watch the Birdie" from the beginning to end?
Yea, Jeannie and Samantha (Bewitched) what are they doin' with these guys? Guys who want to hide them away in a bottle or as a housewife. Ick. but, a, I LOVED both shows.
Exteriors for this episode were shot at Griffith Park Golf Course, where I believe Jerry Barber was the "house pro" at the time...since Sidney Sheldon wrote this episode, there was more emphasis on the "battle of the sexes"- in the opening sequence, Jeannie pops into "Master's" bedroom while he's dressing (even though he tells her she isn't supposed to!), and send him to the golf course without his pants {well, he TOLD her it was urgent he be there to meet General Peterson}! "Master"...HA!
a.) It's a woman being kept in a bottle, who refers to her boss as "Master," and is constantly appeasing his every wish.
vs.
b.) A symbol of empowerment. Jeannie ultimately has all the power, and holds all the cards. In the above, her "Master" would be completely lost without her.
Crackle sucks..........................

I could never figure out why Major Healy's uniform was cacky and Major Nelson's was blue.
robertmastroianni 2 years ago
Tony Nelson was in the Air Force (Blue Uniform) while Roger Healy was in the Army, assigned to work with Nelson and company.

Five years of trying to convince Dr. Bellows the acts of magic he was seeing was only his imagination acting up got annoying after a while.
And what single man wouldn't allow his genie to use her powers? Come on, for real???

definitely would have needed Jeannie's help

I'm not sure if feminist themes are relevant here... Jeannie's an entity, not a woman.
kgirl42 4 years ago 2
What are the feminist implications here:
a.) It's a woman being kept in a bottle, who refers to her boss as "Master," and is constantly appeasing his every wish.
vs.
b.) A symbol of empowerment. Jeannie ultimately has all the power, and holds all the cards. In the above, her "Master" would be completely lost without her.
