@Dragunov1185 You probably saw an FN-49 or egyptian Hakim rifle. Basically the FN version of the G43 and it's egyptian copy. Those run $500-$1000. A German K41/K43 will run you $3000 or more.

@tropicthunder332 The cartridges that the garand and g43 fire are roughly in the same power class. They g43 has a much simpler loading system ( 10 round detachable mag instead of 8 round clip) however.
@macronaria Actually the Garand's En Bloc is simpler (faster) loading than a detachable mag, (which has to manually taken out then replaced), The en-bloc automatically ejects, so all YOU do is insert a new one, easier for me to do at least. Though the G-43 was instructed to soldiers to be loaded via 2 stripper clips from the top of the receiver, like the G-41 and SVT-40, the magazine was only removable to make it easier to clean, not as a means as reloading, but the troops soon did otherwise.
I dunno that I'd call it a waste per say... they're great guns, just expensive and sometimes harder'n hell to find. And don't expect jaw dropping beauty for $2k and under. If you're lucky that'll net you a shooter grade one in today's market (they're incredibly expensive at the moment because they're still riding the after effects of the last assault rifle rush).

It was split into individual cardboard boxes with 20 rds each and paper separating each clip of 5. Could be the age of the stripper clips, but since what I got was a sealed can, it doesn't seem like a marketing ploy. The crappier 50's Yugo ammo was more than the Romanian.
@zchris87v I bought them as well. The thing is I had mine jam up a few times but I replaced my recoil springs and my K43 shoots a hell of a lot better than it did. Have any of you all tried the Yugo rounds?

But the Romanian stuff is very dirty, and it's corrosive so you can't leave the residue in the action or the bore for too long or you'll get lots of rust.

Playing guns is cool when you`re ten,disturbing when you`re 30 or 40 something years old regardless of the uniform. If you want to get close to history visit a WW2 cemetery or talk to some vets,read some books. Alot more historical value in those things than shooting at imaginary people.

I've read books by former German soldiers that are so sad and depressing I sometimes had to stop reading. But on the other hand, imagine if suddenly everything you love was in danger. I hit that guy withthe PPSH-43 when he was trying to flank me. That's why I leaned over like that. He fell down with the first shot and tried to crawl behind a tree. The other shots were to make sure his head was completely shot through and smashed.
