It should. I will be posting a much better tutorial soon.

  • does this only work with the XFX 5770? would it work with an HIS 5770 as well?

It should work for both...but it may require different drivers

  • @ivanrodrigues01

As I said earlier, if you wish to use 64 bit mode then try the kabyl boot loader and goto insanelymac :)

This tutorial is outdated, and since I now program for android, I no longer have a hackintosh ready so I am unable to create another tutorial!

    Maybe during spring vacation!

    Darkhold23

  • yeah.... just use multibeast

  • can hd5870 use this Tutorial?

  • @cathay2582

    YES IT CAN :)

but you wish to use the kabyl boot loader :)

  • @darkhold23 the kabyl boot loader is in 64_bit.zip?

  • @cathay2582

No...... this method is now outdated :(

Goto insanelymac and search up the kabyl boot loader... unfortunately I too am having some troubles right now and am unable to create an updated post :/

    Have Fun

  • @darkhold23 is kabyl boot loader=kabyl boot file?

  • hey, i dont seem to have the boot file...? im running iAtkos s3 version 2. help me please.

  • @hock3y4lyf3

Okay, please use a native install because the native installs are much more stable and are better over all.

Then install a bootloader and follow instructions :)

  • @hock3y4lyf3

Also, this means you haven't installed a bootloader

I use Chameleon RC3 :) its old but works extremely well :D

  • @hock3y4lyf3

    Install bootloader to hdd :D

  • @darkhold23 ...... which one, there are a bunch on the install disk... -.-

GOOD LUCK BTW Make sure u edit ur com.apple.boot.plist it mite not be in ur /extra/ folder and u have to install a bootloader to ur hdd before installing the kext
  • wow, i worked perfectly, thank you so much

  • @genaroguzman

  • I just installed OS X 10.5.7 on my computer and got everything working except the 5770 drivers. Do I need Snow Leopard for this or could I follow this tutorial?

  • @AndriPetur

You obviously need 10.6.4.... as it says in the very beginning of the video :)

  • I just installed OS X 10.5.7 on my computer and got everything working except the 5770 drivers. Do I need Snow Leopard for this or could I follow this tutorial?

  • Do you need another card to install OSX or is is limited supported before you install the drivers?

  • @roygarbitch

You can install with this card... but just download iBoot 5xxx supported put that in boot up

eject it and then press [f5] and then click ur os x disk

  • Comment removed

  • Can this also work for the HD5870 Mobility ?

  • @FB045

It probably would.... however, you may need to tell me your dev-id so I can generate a custom kext for you :)

Just add it as a comment or PM

  • Hi,

Great tutorial. I used it for xfx 5770 and it worked like charm on snow leopard.

But my rear panel audio is not working anymore. It does not even show in audio output list.

Can you help with this. My board is gigabyte x58 UD5.

  • @pk8511

Well... at least you got the graphics working...

Try using multibeast and installing the ALC889 Codec

Make sure that you time machine first in case you get a kernel panic :P

Also you may want to try to use multibeast and use the AppleHDA Rollback option

  • I have a question for you: can I install 10.6.4 directly from the retail dvd?

    (with iBoot)

  • Worked perfectly! Thank you, buddy.

  • @Will762

    Good for you

  • are u dual booted with windows? if so is it on the same HDD? also why cant I use 64-bit if I am dual booting?

  • @techkidguru

I am sure you can... you just have to use the 64 bit link and install the modified Asere Boot Loader and change your com.apple.boot.Plist into Graphics Enabler = YES and delete the arch=i386........... IT IS AS STABLE JUST HARDER TO IMPLEMENT :P.... I AM IN THE PROCESS OF CREATING AN INSTALLER SO STAY TUNED :P AND TELL OTHER PEOPLE ABOUT THIS VIDEO

  • @darkhold23 I look forward to seeing the installer. I have subscribed!!!

  • @InsainMonkeY

    My Stats are

    Asus p6t se

    i7 930 OC to 4.8 ghz

    HD 5770 by XFX

    Cooler master v10

    6gb of ddr3 1900 mhz ram

Dell 2405fpw (ONE MONITOR)... (TWO OR I GUESS FOUR SHOULD WORK :))

  • @InsainMonkeY

You can also do 64 bit... but you must boot with the modified Asere's bootloader

  • @InsainMonkeY

Of course You can install with the card... or at least I see no reason why you cannot especially since you have an i7 :)

What you should do is the following to install

    1) Format your snow leopard dmg to a 8gb flash drive

    2) Burn the iBoot 5xxx v2 DVD search iBoot 5xxx

    3) put in the iBoot CD and Boot From the iBoot CD

    4) select the USB Flash Drive and start the install process

    5) goto the insanelymac post in the description

    6) Grab the 32 bit link download

    7) Follow Steps 25-34
