  • I got this record when I was like 14...so the song is actually called "Firecracker" and not "Computer Games"? Is "Computer Games" actually just the Atari SFX at the beginning?

  • @mootbooxle Yeah, Computer Games is just the video game sounds, this song here is Firecracker :)

  • I liked the fact that the album was yellow!!!!

  • this steelo remind me of Little Dragon

  • that is sampled for a jennifer lopez song !

  • @supersharpshooter75 i like how she refers to it as "sampled".... "Sampling" is done by people of comparable talent and ability. Otherwise it's just stealing.

  • @supersharpshooter75 which song by j-lo?

  • @SkittlesGirlJ3 in " im real"

  • @SkittlesGirlJ3 caution! not the title with jarul but "im real" on its second album "J-Lo"

  • この曲で、ダンベルで、ウエストねじりが、いいですね。

  • I just discovered YMO 3 hours ago. I've been listening to them nonstop since then. It's 6:30am. Who needs sleep, anyways?

That's funny, because I was looking at Joe Hisaishi's biography on Wiki and that brought me to look at this band. Apparently he was influenced some by this band xD.

  • @1VideosFavorite Mariah brought JLo here

  • @1VideosFavorite And J.Lo was brought here by Mariah.

  • @LaceKPL which s0ngs???

  • Yellow Magic Orchestra is awesome! I bet you haven't heard of Irish Japanese Popstars though! See their US tour video on our page!

  • this comes on in the club, best believe I'm on the floor! Chicago house music classic!

  • Brilliant! I posted this on FB and got no likes or comments. The week before I posted a Biggie track (Everyday Struggle) that got lots of comments. Admittedly both great tracks, but people at least here in the States have forgotten about some of the really legend groups/artists that made electronic music (of which hip-hop is a part) what it is. Cheers Japan, you've produced some excellent music over the years.

  • geni!!

  • Rather cool.

  • Brilliant. They played this last night at the Hollywood Bowl in Los Angeles!

YMO !!!!!!

Ray William Johnson would like this most likely. How can anyone not? ;)

  • @deadmau5suckz You know, those same words could be applied to yourself, my friend :)

  • awesome new wave synthpop

  • This song has been stuck in my head for years..it wasn't after a phone ap was able to tell me the name of this song. X_X Ate the back of my skull out trying to find it.

  • Große Geschichte !!

  • I have spent half my LIFE trying to find this! Thank goodness J. Lo sampled it, or I would never have found it! What was the B side to this, do you recall?

  • くもじいじゃ!

  • くもじいじゃ!

  • @Nza420" nookyooler"! Lmfao. Great song to break dance to.

  • It seems like of my favorite game composer list these guys as a influence. I can see why!

Almost seems like a game soundtrack.

  • @dissident93 Who would that composer be?

  • @GamerBoy53 Oh, it would be almost all of them. But normally the 80's Konami, Capcom, Square composers. Of course they're all Japanese. haha

  • @dissident93 Yeah, I can hear some arcade/NES sort of similarities in this too. Konami, especially.

  • @GamerBoy53 I wonder who inspired these guys? haha

  • @dissident93 No clue. This album was before the NES, and I don't think arcade machines even had decent music yet at the time. I do hear a slight Asian sound in this music, though. Maybe they were just going along with synthesizers and did what they knew with music.

  • @GamerBoy53 Well I know this song was originally by Martin Denny, but what caused the Synthpop sound? I guess we'll never know, haha.

  • @dissident93 Well, I didn't know that. So... cool.

  • @GamerBoy53 Yeah, haha.

  • @GamerBoy53

Actually, the arcades did have some influence on YMO's music. When this song was released in 1978, Space Invaders became a huge phenomenon in Japan (and in the US the following year). In fact, there's a version of this song that starts off with Space Invaders sounds and beeps at the beginning of the video:

    watch?v=aHhYbVVDuoA

Nevertheless, YMO definately had a huge influence on video game music, as well as electronic music in general throughout the 1980s.

  • where have I heard this song from? sounds so familiar.

  • Maybe these guys' music could fix that broken nookyooler reactor?

  • THANK-YOU FOR GRANDFATHERING THE ELECTRONIC ERA......TO BAD YOUR SOUND PRODUCED SO MANY BASTARD CHILDREN

  • da bomb!!!!

  • pop..lock..break..or booty shake..just ride the beat....

  • Awesome, classic electro jam YMO and Kraftwerk my electronic favs!!!

  • This song is one of the few I would ABSOLUTELY run onto a dance floor if the DJ were playing it. Even if I had a broken leg, I'd still run. I'd be in pain, but I'd be happy. NO DOUBT.

  • @Tripnick I REALY want to watch your dance with this kind of music!

  • @AvaAdaptor Thanks Ava. If I were to EVER hear that song on a floor, pull out your video cameras 'cause I would BLOW UP. That's a song I'd lose my mind on. Hopefully you're there when it happens.

    ありがとうございます。

  • THANK YOU!! Ever so much for this!! I have been looking for this for the longest. I used to listen to this over the radio while doing my homework. Back then is was called "Computer Game" by the radio stations., so I didn't know that it was originally called "Firecracker". Explains why I could never find it before, even here on Youtube. Whenever I would listen to my "Heroshima" album especially "One Wish" I would say I'm going to locate this song. Ah..yes, it brings back sweet memories .
