it has been about a month and a half since my gastric bypass surgery.....so far i have lost about 40 pounds post surgery and until now.....i have a lot of throwing up if i eat too much or too fast...i was told by the doctor that it was a learning process as to what to eat

Hey guys, I'm 62 yrs. old & my surgury will be 2 wks tomorrow. When I came back from recovery I was walking, the next day I did 10 laps around the ward & the next &7 the next b4 they sent me home. Its tru you cant eat a lot & the protein omg makes u want to puke, its better mixed with fat free milk & 1 T of peanut butter, but this is life changing surgury so just hang in there, keep moving, taking your vitamins & your going to be a size 10 or smaller soon. good luck, i had my surgery 9 yrs ago, weighed 375 got down to 152, then had tummy tuck & have gained 40 lbs back. I lost 27 lbs in the 1st 7 days & 95 in the 1st 9 weeks. I cried whole 1st year COZ I was so hungry & nothing I ate would stay down. i couldnt eat anything & even after 8 yrs I still throw up pasta, rice and fried foods including grilled burgers & steaks BUT I WOULD NOT TRADE ALL THE PUKING IN THE WORLD TO GO BACK TO WEIGHING 375 LBS. REMEMBER YOU KNOW WHAT EVERYTHING TASTES LIKE!

My surgery is in 10 days... but I'm really struggling w/the preop diet. Thus far have been compliant - lost 13 pounds in 4 days. But I'm afraid I may break down. The smell of popcorn, chicken, etc., when I'm preparing them for my child is just KILLING ME.

@LydiaSpunkys check out the raw food diet because that is a very good diet for veightloss. and also it is very smart to check out the sideeffects with that gastric bypass surgery.

@LydiaSpunkys just hang in there!! i know its hard but you can do it!! im 24 and i had my gastric bypass done december of 2010 on new years eve and its been a year now and i lost 140 pounds! its worth it just hang in there!! and p.s. i didnt have as much pain as she did...

When i did the gastric bypass it was really easy, actualy when i woke up i asked the doc if he did something cause i felt no pain at all....i think everybody is different, hope u are blossoming now...

My husband and I both had this surgery on the same day 3 1/2 months ago. The first two days after surgery were the very worse!!! I think your recovery really depends on how skilled the doctor is. Both my husband and I were up and walking around (slowly) the house on day three. I had quite a bit of gas pains but after about six days the misery was over!! The message I just wanted to let everyone know is that everyone is different!!! Please don'[t base someone elses' experience on your decision!

@cassandraasl1 Oh Don't be scared, I was sooo terrified to because you think of the worst thing that can happen... But make sure you have friends/family there who love and support you it eases the nerves and makes you feel good... Im not gonna lie coming out of surgery/waking up was kinda scary thank GOD for the morphine!!! lol i was in a lil pain but not as bad as i thought it would be... But everything will be ok! :)

i had my surgery done at ALSA medical group. i went in for surgery at 10 am. i woke up in some mild pain. i was up and walking around 4 pm and was dischared at noon after my surgery day. i hardly needed pain pills. i am 1 week out and i am feeling perfectly normal. i'm just starting to hate that jello.

I had the RNY two months ago and hardly had any pain at all,two days after the surgery i was telling the dr. no, no,I dont need it.The pain medication. So maybe its who you get to do the surgery. Be careful there are a lot of butchers out there only wanting to make a dollar!
