I found an sd card on the floor in ASDA (British wallmart) and it contains the following on it :

plus loads of other stuff, i googled hackmii installer and your youtube video came up. what THE HELL is all this shit? i have a wii, does it mean i can get free stuff? like games. let me know with a blunt yes or no. ha
can you tell me if this works with Nintendo Wii 4.2E?? cas i tried Bootmii v2, v7 and the newest v8 but everytime i go into it and it comes up with Homebrew, Dvd-X and Bootmii as i click on Bootmii it doesnt show the option of Boot2 which sucks dick, cas i have to do the stupid IOS thing, It will let me backup my wii ( NAND ) but as i go to recover after it it says Boot2 not found... Is there a way to somehow get Boot2 to show? do i have to name the boot.dol ( Boot2 ) as i put it on my sd card?
@2pj2the2best2 uh actually that's not true. At all. You can install HackMii as an IOS, then use Priiloader to access it. You can even set priiloader to go to the HackMii menu when the Wii powers on, and there is full NAND backup capability. It's just an annoying work-around to Nintendo's anti-piracy atyempts, but in the end when you set it up like this it's as if HackMii is running as a Boot2.

@ser9mail If you have Bootmii as IOS you can backup your NAND BUT if you were to brick your Wii, you wouldn't be able to restore your NAND to the Wii.

@mr8ball1 ah! I have a black Wii, which has a few differences including a non DVD-R supporting drive, to stop backups. Since then I've learned to use WBFS and USB Loader. To get it to work, plug the external hard drive of yours in your Wii (if one port doesn't work, use the other, then keep using that one. USB Loader favors a particular USB slot.) then just let it load. If USB loader doesn't load it, you need to partition the space with WBFS.
@areis114 If you're not seeing the launch BootMii option, you either somehow have an older version of the homebrew channel, or you forgot to install BootMii entirely. If you cannot install it as a Boot2, install it as an IOS, and then fine and install a program callked Priiloader. It is the only defense against bricking if the boot2 option dosn't appear for you in the installer. (for BootMii I mean ^_^)

No, if you install HackMii, youre Wii will be able to read the other software you need to get to play burnt Wii games, such as Backup Laucnher gamma. Look that up, the best place to find these things is on Wiibrew.
Hi everyone, i have a wii 4.2U with serial LU66 and i wonder if this tute would work on it, i also wanted to know why some other tutes start modifying the IOS stuff, untill now i understand that installing this doesn't represent a danger for my wii however messing with IOS could brick it, please enlighten me
IOS modding is dangerous if you don't know what you're doing, but thanks to Wanikoko and WiiGator, even a noob can do it right. The reason why other tutes begin with IOS modding and mine does not is because my tute comes after you've done the IOS part.
Now, about that, Look up Wanikoko's cIOS rev 17 installer. It is the most recent one. Now let me explain what the difference is between an IOS and a cIOS. an IOS is something on the Wii that helps it perceive data. IOSes come pre-installed on its software, and the updates from Nintendo only update them.
a cIOS stands for Custom IOS, now these are crucial for hacking, since Nintendo's 4.2 update made IOS 249 hack-proof, which is the IOS on which Homebrew and everything else hack-related is installed on. So basically, no custom IOS 249, no Homebrew, no soft-modded Wii.
So once you get Wanikoko's cIOS 38 rev 17 installer done on your Wii, you can come back and use my tutes or someone else's to get the Homebrew Channel.
NOTE: This is very important, when you do get cIOS 38 rev 17 instaler.dol, make sure you make a folder of it in the apps folder of your SD card, and them RENAME the "cIOS 38 rev 17 installer.dol" file to "boot.dol", and then place it in the folder you just made in your SD card.
i found a solution pplz, u knw how u first uploaded the homebrew channel onto the wii, well all you have to do is go through that process again in just install bootmii 2 and nothing else because you already have homebrew channel and dvdx so that way you'll be able to have bootmii 2 and everyones happy, and if you need those files again if yall deleted them from yalls computer, im on the scene to find the link if you need it again, JUST EMAIL ME OR ILL POST THE LINK ON THIS VIDEO COMMENT PAGE
it didnt work, i went to the sight and downloaded the hack mii installer thing then moved it in my sd card. then when i put it in the wii and loaded the sd card slot nothing happened.

what sort of app are you trying ti install? Is it for the homebrew channel? If so, then apps are best installed to your SD card through the Homebrew Browser, as these complications won't happen then.

I hate to be the barer of bad news, but if your Wii no longer turns on, then its bricked worse than anything I've ever heard of before.. usually when a Wii bricks the boot still works, that's how BootMii saves it if it ever does brick.. sorry man..

if your Wiimote is turning off, it means the Wii is freezing, and thus the installation is not working. Can you tell me exactly what you did prior to trying to install CIOS 38, as there may be a number of reasons why it's not working for you, and I'd need specific info to help you better.
Why does it blow your mind that people are using external hard drives for the wii? They are small enough with plenty of storage on board to download and keep all your games in one place. Quicker load times, no messing about with discs burning and getting scratched. Definatly the way forward!!
There's a program you download and place in your SD card that when access through the Wii SD ad menu installs the theme as the Wii's Boot menu. I'm currently making a video on it, so don't worry all will be explained soon.
I've seen several videos of people using DVDs, Flash Drives, SDS Cards and External Hard drives, to play games. From your experience, what would you suggest is best to use? Better yet, what is the easiest less likely to mess up with less errors? The easier the better for me. Also, do I need a special app/software to be able to use these methods? ..Well, unfortunate I've never heard of anyone using an external hard drive to play games on the Wii... that seems a little excessive. If you get the homebrew channel, you can download apps and software for it from the homebrew browser. As for playing games, that depends. If you want ti play ripped Wii games, burn them on a DVD and get a backup loader like NeoGamma, or Backup Launcher. If you want ti play emulated games, SD card or flash drives will work fine, but the emulator has to support it
Emulators can be downloaded via the Homebrew Browser. Things like Neo gamma however, I think you'll have to find on the internet. Once you download it, put it in the apps folder of your SD card that goes in your Wii, and it should show up in the HBC menu. Hope that's the help you were looking for.

Wii it asked me to updated and I did :S (I found out later that it wasn't good) I started playing perfectly fine, but the screen suddenly went to black and said to remove the game and turn off the wii. No, this gets you the *channel* which allows you to play downloaded games. To actually play them, you need to download something called Backup Launcher or NeoGamma and place them in the apps folder in your SD card.

What version is your Wii? For that matter, what region code does it have? (Not familiar with Australian Wiis)
Did you put the files in the root of your SD card?
Do you have a Black Wii or a White Wii? (there is a difference)

you also need to download bannerbomb
- Download Bannerbomb
- Backup and delete the Private folder on ur SD
- Copy bannerbomb's Private folder onto the root of ur SD

No, if you install HackMii, youre Wii will be able to read the other software you need to get to play burnt Wii games, such as Backup Laucnher gamma. Look that up, the best place to find these things is on Wiibrew.

IOS modding is dangerous if you don't know what you're doing, but thanks to Wanikoko and WiiGator, even a noob can do it right. The reason why other tutes begin with IOS modding and mine does not is because my tute comes after you've done the IOS part.

Now, about that, Look up Wanikoko's cIOS rev 17 installer. It is the most recent one. Now let me explain what the difference is between an IOS and a cIOS. an IOS is something on the Wii that helps it perceive data. IOSes come pre-installed on its software, and the updates from Nintendo only update them.

a cIOS stands for Custom IOS, now these are crucial for hacking, since Nintendo's 4.2 update made IOS 249 hack-proof, which is the IOS on which Homebrew and everything else hack-related is installed on. So basically, no custom IOS 249, no Homebrew, no soft-modded Wii.

So once you get Wanikoko's cIOS 38 rev 17 installer done on your Wii, you can come back and use my tutes or someone else's to get the Homebrew Channel.
NOTE: This is very important, when you do get cIOS 38 rev 17 instaler.dol, make sure you make a folder of it in the apps folder of your SD card, and them RENAME the "cIOS 38 rev 17 installer.dol" file to "boot.dol", and then place it in the folder you just made in your SD card.

i found a solution pplz, u knw how u first uploaded the homebrew channel onto the wii, well all you have to do is go through that process again in just install bootmii 2 and nothing else because you already have homebrew channel and dvdx so that way you'll be able to have bootmii 2 and everyones happy, and if you need those files again if yall deleted them from yalls computer, im on the scene to find the link if you need it again, JUST EMAIL ME OR ILL POST THE LINK ON THIS VIDEO COMMENT PAGE

what sort of app are you trying ti install? Is it for the homebrew channel? If so, then apps are best installed to your SD card through the Homebrew Browser, as these complications won't happen then.

Sorry or the late reply, school's been very hectic..
..never disconnect a machine when its running.. especially if its frozen.. that's how you break it. Had you just kept the power button pressed down long enough, it would have shut down..
I hate to be the barer of bad news, but if your Wii no longer turns on, then its bricked worse than anything I've ever heard of before.. usually when a Wii bricks the boot still works, that's how BootMii saves it if it ever does brick.. sorry man..

if your Wiimote is turning off, it means the Wii is freezing, and thus the installation is not working. Can you tell me exactly what you did prior to trying to install CIOS 38, as there may be a number of reasons why it's not working for you, and I'd need specific info to help you better.

Why does it blow your mind that people are using external hard drives for the wii? They are small enough with plenty of storage on board to download and keep all your games in one place. Quicker load times, no messing about with discs burning and getting scratched. Definatly the way forward!!

There's a program you download and place in your SD card that when access through the Wii SD ad menu installs the theme as the Wii's Boot menu. I'm currently making a video on it, so don't worry all will be explained soon.

I've seen several videos of people using DVDs, Flash Drives, SDS Cards and External Hard drives, to play games. From your experience, what would you suggest is best to use? Better yet, what is the easiest less likely to mess up with less errors? The easier the better for me. Also, do I need a special app/software to be able to use these methods? I'm heading more towards using and external hard drive since it holds more games... not sure yet. Thank you in advance for your help.

..Well, unfortunate I've never heard of anyone using an external hard drive to play games on the Wii... that seems a little excessive. If you get the homebrew channel, you can download apps and software for it from the homebrew browser. As for playing games, that depends. If you want ti play ripped Wii games, burn them on a DVD and get a backup loader like NeoGamma, or Backup Launcher. If you want ti play emulated games, SD card or flash drives will work fine, but the emulator has to support it

Emulators can be downloaded via the Homebrew Browser. Things like Neo gamma however, I think you'll have to find on the internet. Once you download it, put it in the apps folder of your SD card that goes in your Wii, and it should show up in the HBC menu. Hope that's the help you were looking for.

Hey! could you please please help me? I downloaded Super Mario Bros. Wii it asked me to updated and I did :S (I found out later that it wasn't good) I started playing perfectly fine, but the screen suddenly went to black and said to remove the game and turn off the wii. I thought it had upgraded to version 4.2 since i read on forums that it was the one making all this trouble, but i currently have version 4.1e...I installed hackmii not knowing what to do, but it didn't help :'(

I have the Neo Gamma channel too and I wanted to play a burned DVD and it looked as if it was reading it, but then the screen went black and everything frozed. I tried it several times. No, this gets you the *channel* which allows you to play downloaded games. To actually play them, you need to download something called Backup Launcher or NeoGamma and place them in the apps folder in your SD card.

Unfortunately, I am not entirely sure what makes a Wii capable of installing BootMii as a Boot2 or ISO... sorry.
