The myths behind him inspired a wave of ninja stories similar to robin hood and many anime use the name sasuke due to its connotations.

Besides, it's not like I'm trying to troll this stuff actively. I'd love to find a new action anime that was as much fun as the stuff I used to watch when I was 14. But now it seems every action anime feels the need to have a nuke sized explosion every time a guy swing a weapon just to make battles exciting, and writer's think lots of cleavage and impractical fighting styles are what make action unique.

@note4note Aw c'mon, ain't it fun sometimes to just actively suspend your disbelief and relish the over-the-top improbable action of a fight scene? I mean, it's not very fun to watch a Michael Bay film and go "OMG, NO ONE COULD DUAL-WIELD TWO MAGNUMS WITHOUT ANY RECOIL!! FAAAKE!!!"

Then again, that's probably just me. I do like my ridiculous, op fight scenes. Although if they're meant to be taken seriously, then they're no fun at all. I don't think anyone who likes Basara takes it seriously.

@avaspongeriffic Well I suppose if this show is suppose to be self parody than I withdraw my original comment, but this just looks like another shonen fight that's suppose to be a serious clash between characters.

And I suppose if it was animated well enough I could get lost in it, but this one in particular is so by the numbers and lazily animated that it seems to be depending on the ridiculous explosions to give the battle any sort of excitement.
