Solaris is amazing, their album Mars Chronicles is definitely one of the best prog albums ever.

meh it only got good once the distorted guitar came in. the beginning was meh. If you like prog rock, you should be listening to stuff like Dream Theater, Porcupine Tree, and Riverside is a great underrated band.

Come on!!! Dream theater and Riverside are good (Porcupine Tree is something else) but this guys play the true prog rock of the 70´s, like Genesis, Camel, Eloy, Atoll, Ange, Hoelderlin, ELP and many other bands. Nowdays there are good bands (Dream Theater is a very mediocre band actually) but nothing compared to bands like Solaris, where the highlights are the music not the solos or musicianship.

I meant that Porcupine Tree is something else in the sense that they are awesome, and a very prolific and talented band (actually I am referring to Steven Wilson). Comparing Porcupine Tree to Dream theater and Riverside is unfair because listenting hard to all three bands Porcupine Tree is on another league, IMO. Sorry for the confusion.

ok:)i like porcupine tree more, beacause they can capture the prog spirit...if u know what i mean...Lol, and dreamtheater i like ,i think they are good...but soulless realy...theres a great diference between virtuosos and artists...and i must say i realy prefer artists more...

You nailed it ledzepboy3, soulless bands against musicians. A friend of mine told me he had a talk with a fellow student who said he admired the artist who wrote his music with his soul as ink but he preferred the showman moving his fingers incredibly fast but with no direction at all...I think that about sums it up, when talking about Dream Theater and Solaris.

of course...but most of the ppl think that playing fast is the best thing...thats why most of the kids diss solaris,king crimson or even black sabbath or pink floyd, too for exemple :Iron Maiden or Metallica...and its kind of bad you know...im 13 and i was on a band playing my guitar...i wrote good prog rock songs for the band, and they diss them beacause they wanted too play covers...
