Hey im 20 and wanting to do my rescue and DM this year, was looking into koh tao, what dive centers would you recommend for internships? looking to stay out between 3 to 4 months

but this year i´m going to coron island in the Filipines , there are not so many tourists like in Thailand and also very beautiful islands.

Well were doing a Divemaster course.. its 3 months with a company called Davy jones locker (DJL) unlimited dives, all inclusive food, accomidation and a full set of kit to keep for £2800 which I thought was rather good to be honest. ill post some pics or a vid up when I cum bk and you can see what it was like .. cheers anyway John

I was on Koh Tao about a year later in May of 2008. And that dog being pet at 2:54 was so ravaged by mange. It was so sad.

The island has changed so much since you have last seen it.

Tourism has increased ten fold. Living there you see how deep of an impact it has.

Koh Tao will be quickly become another Koh Samui which is like a little island Bangkok.:(

I lived on this island for three months and was planning to stay for good until I had a gun pulled on me and got beaten up by three guys with bats! needless to say I left very quickly the next day! Not a nice place to be!!!! be careful if you are going there!!!

can't agree on that. Stayed and worked there for more than a year and never had a problem - but were watching others getting themselves into trouble. One thing I recognize everywhere in the world. The locals treat you as you treat them. You might perhaps face the same troubles on other places - maybe not.Rarely things like that happen accidentually,sure.I travelled really almost the half of the world, even quite "dangerous" areas,but with an honest smile and respect you'll make it through easily

I dont understand how people can think what happened to me was my fault! All I did was come out of a toilet a guy pulled a gun on me and asked for my money. I got scared and tried to run, that is when his friends jumped on me and beat me up with a bat! I dont see how I brought that on myself.

I also lived and worked on Tao for almost 2 years and yes during the time i was there i remember some 'incidents', some drunk aussie beaten up by locals, a local boatboy being beaten by a group of drunk brittons and some locals showing up with guns looking for them after. Violence is everywhere, even on paradise islands like Koh Tao.

yes, some people are looking for problems but others are just in the wrong place at the wrong time, period.

I was there 10 years ago and it was a paradise. Man, it looks like Koh Tao is next to be destroyed, just like Pattaya.I don't understand it, if they wanna party why not just stay in a big city,if they want beach party, can't they just party in Pattaya or atleast Phuket. Keep the island clean!!!

I arrived on Koh Tao 11 years ago and lived there for 8. It certainly has changed in that time, but unfortunately change is inevitable wherever you go my friend, nothing ever remains the same, this is a universal law. Koh Tao still witholds its charm but we too change and maybe the island is no longer for you (me?), then withold the old memories and either move on or see the island in a different light! Certainly should keep the island clean though!!

hi bro, i lived there for 2 years, the good season is march untill august - so i am going back in feb, make sure you go with a good dive shop, that go to chumphon pinnacle, i will let you know the good ones if you want as i was working as an instructor/videographer.

koh tao....i had SO many good memories there with my finnish friends drinking nights away at lotus bar, chilling at sairee beach, shark bay, freedom beach, motorcycling round the is. enjoying the underwater festival. had the best holiday romance too. sighs...i adore koh tao! take me back to paradise!!
