@themrmustazz Eh, I disagree. To break it down, the four hardest drumming styles are jazz, drum and bass, extreme metal, and prog. Out of those four, I'd argue the easiest is progressive, and the hardest is drum and bass (Because, in some cases, it requires EVERYTHING that makes the other three hard). There are a lot of variables, but counting odd timing with some slight dynamic work is WAY easier than playing at 250 bpm. I'm a huge fan of Portnoy, I use his sticks, but Roddy's on another level.

@AspiringRocker729 Extreme metal drumming can be hard when you go too fast, but most of the time you'll get 4/4, easy to play. Different when you try out Technical Death, like Meshuggah and BrainDrill, as they are both extreme metal and prog. Jazz is a bit slower but it's still 4/4.

When it comes to prog on Dream Theater level, difficulty decreased in matter of speed, increased in matter of beats. D&B is hard for real, but you can't say it's the sum of the other three.

@themrmustazz Agreed on all counts in the first paragraph. With DT, as far as drumming goes, they`re not the hardest band to deal with. Dance of Eternity is a nightmare, over 100 time sig and tempo changes. I dunno, I've practiced sigs a lot and written some fairly weird stuff in them already, so I don't find them too intimidating.

@themrmustazz The reason I say D&B, if ya look at Venetian Snares for instance (Who programs his drums, but it fits the style), it's got time lots of signatures, such high tempo that sometimes no human can do it (In one song, there's a drum roll at 120 notes per second doesn't even sound like drums; the world record Mangini set, while playing for a minute, is 20, and even that is often exceeded), jazz dynamics and groove, and you'll need gravity rolls. which is mostly a tech death or jazz trick.
