You could google this, but there is a spot on the your retina where there are no photo-receptors (the things that make you able to see things) because that's where the optic nerve is at the back of your eye. To compensate for this, your brain does some funky black magic to make up for the blind spot, so it takes information from the rest of what you see, patches it up, stitches it together and bam. Floaty head.

@12346578109 He is trying to get you to discover that there is a blind spot in your eye. When you reach that blind spot, the brain automatically fills in the blind spot with the colors of the area surrounding it. You don't notice it normally, because you have two eyes (thus covering the blind spot without the need of color filling by brain). The blind spot is created by a bundle of nerves, if I remember correctly.

If you think it doesn't work try moving your head backward or forward. Remember to only look at the cross and not his head directly. At a certain point his head will disappear. This area where you can't see his head is known as your blindspot. Where the set point can't actually be seen by only your left or right eye.

Worked great for me. I think experienced this when playing bf3 moving my head close to see a really far away target and part of my gun seemed to vanish and I was like wtf just happened.

it does work. but it's not psychology. not even close. its basic anatomy. when you move your head a certain distance from the screen, his head falls on your optical nerve, or "blind spot" on your retina, so his head seems to disappear. the black bar stays "solid" through the blind spot cuz your brain is trained to fill/make sense of images based on perception. really not that amazing.

Best to try this on your mobile phone. Follow exactly what he tells you but ask your friend to call you in the middle of the video. You will see his face pop up on your screen when he calls. Pretty neat huh?

At first I can't do it and I still see the head. There's a certain distance to make his head disappear. Move your head closely to the X mark without looking to the speaker then when there's a scene that you can't see the head, stop right there because if you still move closer to the screen his head will appear again. so there's a certain distance for you to realize that his head is missing.
