Here's what I think.
Dr. Laura is making a point about black people in the media spewing the N word like its nothing BUT its NOT related to the black woman caller's problems.
Obviously the woman is hurt by her husband's friend's comments. They're making comments and jokes in bad taste.

@23TDJ OK. All valid points. The problem comes in this point: By saying someone can't use a word based on the color of their skin, you're being racist. PERIOD. Black people are real quick to accuse a white person of acting or being racist, but if you try to accuse them of the same thing, you get accused of racial profiling. That's hipocrasy, and a double-standard. If someone disagrees with President Obama's policies, are they being racist or political?

@NataliesMom2769 @seifer2k cont. that it's okay to discriminate like that and it's a double standard that are societal norms, so to get rid of the HBO comedians freedom of speech is to remove everybodys' and that would mean to get rid of the double standard women have in rape cases. Things like this help even the playing field or give back in some way. At least for women, because white people, in general, gain nothing from saying it and can't give something that never was associated with you.

But, the huge issue now is that things done are racist by design but fair in intent. @seifer2k the n-word thing is a double standard that will be here. It's like women when it comes to rape/sex assault cases. The law says it doesn't discriminate by race, color, sex, creed but we clearly discriminate in a good way during rape/sex assault cases and we know.........

Laws are black and white; something is either illegal, or it is not illegal. Either EVERYONE can use the word...or NO ONE can. If you want white people to stop using the word, then make all of those black comedians and actors on HBO SHUT UP (a.k.a. take away their "freedom of speech").

Whether or not Dr. Laura is a racist isnt the issue. That rests on her conscience alone. However, this word has a definite history. If A. Americans choose to appropriate the word, it is their choice. Everything she said was highly insulting. She totally dismissed the caller problem and failed to address it at all only to say “I don’t think that’s racist.” Clearly she has no clue or judgment when it comes to racism, because it goes far beyond being hurtful!

I love Dr. Laura. Obviously she was not intending to hurt anyone's feelings and was using her words to address the conversation she was having with her telephone guest. I miss her show terribly. She has very strong opinions and if you were a listener and fan, then you should have known either you could take her advice and learn from it, or don't call in to the show if you can't take the heat.
