As was my father, he took me to see John Martyn in 2006 in Newcastle, and I had only heard bits and pieces of his music before that. Being introduced to Solid Air and I'd Rather Be The Devil (amongst others) live was just mind blowing. I'll never forget that gig. Peace and love John.

I'm so glad that I saw this great man perform live dozens of times in the 80's & 90's. I found it very difficult in recent years as he had deteriorated so much physically and mentally and seemed hell bent on self destruction. Such a terrible waste, he could have lived 20 more years if he'd listened to the advice of his exasperated loved ones. I even wrote to him, begging him to take care of himself and got the loveliest and funniest of replies from the man himself - He always did his own thing.

Have some bloody respect for the dead. This man devoted his life to music,even after losing his leg,he continued to gig all over the world and recently received an OBE for his contribution to music. I saw John perform 7 times live,each one more amazing than the next and was even blessed with sharing a pint with him. And from what I know of John he didnt suffer fools like you easily.
