Bruce, this might have to be my second favourite of your songs (after Bad Car, Bad Neighbourhood of course!) I really love this! Your writing just keeps getting better and better. It's a great story and tune, and I love the setting. You got a great recording outside too.
The song is already great. But I also like the way you make a great video, with a minimum on equipment.
A lot of viewers don't understand the work behind a simple music video. The multiple takes. The editing. Pumping up the audio. Re-takes- Re-editing. And that with just simple camera's en without the finest computers and software.
So. This is a little extra appreciation for all YouTubers, who take that extra effort for the viewers.
Thanks, thakoh. The hardest bit was climbing up from the ocean with the guitar and gear on my back, on a rather slippery trail. On the way down, I carried the guitar at my side so it would only drop a foot if I slipped, rather than having me land on top of it. Even though I only paid $48 for the guitar, I would hate to see it hurt. Hiking with ukuleles is a lot easier.
Thanks, Ralf. Yeah, screens don't get much greener, do they? The weather at the ocean here is best in the winter, nice and sunny. In the summer, it's usually foggy and very windy. Go figure.
Wow! That's superb video stuff Bruce. I mean look at you. I can actually see you clearly. Different from your other videos where it's all dark. Loved the performance. Great songwriting ... deep deep meaning.
Thanks, Dylan. Shooting outside turned out to be easier than I thought it would be. You may be seeing more of these in the future. That you liked the lyrics means a lot to me.
Thanks, Mike. I think I incorporated a version of your "put the mic in a can" secret by tucking it inside my clothes. Cut the breeze nicely. (Notice I did not say wind.)
Thanks, Alan. I stuck an H4n in the chest pocket of my fleece top. I was kind of surprised at how well it worked. It had a Redhead windscreen on it, which probably cut out the clothes-rustle sounds I would've gotten with a foam windscreen. The so-so video was shot with an iPod Touch. It came out a bit overexposed, so I upped the color saturation and adjusted the contrast and brightness in Adobe Premiere Elements. Now it looks kind of like a 1970s snapshot.
now we're talkin' coolness!

The two things I really like about this song: "But don't prove it to yourself
By hatin' those who don't believe" (!!) and the locale. Great job!

Thanks, Don, and thanks for backstopping the lyrics.
Hey, did you recognize the landscape? I think you rode that stretch (Jenner to Bodega Bay) on your trip.
