Lovell claims cell-phone cameras indicate a shift in power from police to the individual. This is just factually false. No such shift has occurred at all. One clear indication of this, is the fact that prosecutions and jail sentences of police officers since the trial of the officers in the King case have NOT escalated with the rising number of recorded incidents. All cameras have done, is to make EXPLICIT to us, exactly what we ask cops to do: If a man doesn't cooperate with me, Murder him.

The video shows nothing. Yes, you can hear some things; the taser and the guy screaming; but there is nothing to see in the video. This is not evidence. Now they have a flower-filled memorial to this homeless guy. Why wasn't anybody there to help him before the incident? Why wasn't his family looking after him, keeping him out of trouble? a) Keeping even one single civilian from being able to immediately aid their fellow American citizen. This act makes them an accomplice to the homicide (which DA agreed is in fact murder)

I now carry a shotgun in my truck. Never felt the need before this because I know that most trouble won't be with an armed person. However, now I realise that police will do what pleases them on a whim, and I refuse to place myself at the mercy of a government union member with a license to kill. Worse yet, one that would shamelessly murder me knowing full well any prosecution will be merely a half-hearted show for political purposes. Me and my family cannot take a chance on any officer's mood.

I now it doesn't make it right, it puts an even cloudier cast over the entire process though when the payout for a cops guilt is the first thought to the politicians. I've seen my unfair share of police wrongs and the politicians coming out in the police defense,, before anything is known. This is how you tell, the timing of the defenders of the police crimes.
