@wimpo, that may be so, but in an interview with Danny Boyle, he himself says his movie was not intended to be a zombie film. He compared the rage virus to the influenza virus. From your perspective, it may be a zombie film, but when you compare it to other films featuring zombies (Resident Evil, Shaun of the Dead, for example)

First zombie movie was not in 1932, it was a french film called 'J'accuse' and dealt with the dead soldiers of WW1 coming back to life. Not entirely certain but it was either during or just after 1918. RESEARCH!

Zombie movies are still classed as mediocre in the public eye. Since the mass decline of Zombie movies (Namely after The Return of the Living Dead and Day of the Dead) in 1985, anything that came after was just cheap fodder. Braindead was a Cult hit on home video, and other titles like ROTLD 3 were largely unavailable (especially in the UK until 2001). Zack Snyder and Danny Boyle may have scored hits, but those are just forgotten by the mainstream audience after a few years. BUT I AM ADDICTED!
