Of course a doctor is against Universal Healthcare. They become doctors to get rich. To hell with their fellow man. Screw the American healthcare system.
Why do we have to constantly inject terms like "centralized" and "socialized", read up on any reference source and socialized medicine is distinctly defined as government ownership of hospitals, clinics and doctors and nurses are civil servants. Most health care systems that cover everyone does not take on this form. Most health care in other countries is subsidized not owned, and even this is not necessarily centralized, but local and regional in manner. Stop spreading such propaganda.
This is the kind of doctor u do not wanna have or see. See, the kinds of physician who are against universal healthcare are smart, they know why they are against it,its the money. See with universal healthcare a doctor can not set his own greedy pricing anymore and charge a patient lets say 5o0 bucks for an x ray,if it indeed cost 25 bucks. So government health care would benefit the people, you and me. See insurance companies give bonuses to doctors,to not inform a patient of a serious ilnness
where I come from College education up to ph.d is free of charge my dumb uneducated American retarded friend. I graduated debt free like every single person earning a degree in Europe. Heck,we don't even have to pay for books. Your system is a rip off and scandal, and you only do that,if the government knows, its own people are dumb and retarded.
Where I was from, getting an education is a right and not a privilege like here!!!
As a country, we Americans need to stop smoking, stop abusing our bodies, stop eating greasy artery hardening fast food every single day. If we did that there would be less of a demand on the system, and prices would fall. There was a time in our country when pioneers had no hospitals, no nurses, no doctors. We survived. Take vitamins, work out, eat right. Treat your body like a temple, not like a garbage dump. Doctors should be used for emergencies not for maintenence.

@manicmetropolis I am from another country where we have auniversal healthcare....I'll tell you, you just don't know what you are asking for. I was never satisfied with this kind of healthcare....In Britain my friend couldn't find a doctor when he was stabbed at 3 a.m. ..... or another thing is that doctors cut out wrong organs because they are not professional
@DInara1999 If your friend was stabbed at 3 am, why didn't he go to the Emergency Room? And, we have medical malpractice here too. Those doctors who cut out wrong organs would prolly be bad no matter where they practice.
The doctor's point of overall insurance is misleading. He said "federal and state government insure 2/3 of current recipients through progams like medicare and medicaid." The proper wording of this fact should be, "of those that DO have insurance, 2/3 is supplied by the government." Far too many people receive no medical attention in this country. The first thing I said when I paid my first insurance bill after coming home from the Army was, "how does anybody pay for this?"
The good doctor would be hard pressed to convince people in "other countries" to give up their solidarity for Ron Paul's closer "doctor/patient relationship. See how close that relationship is when you need surgery and can't afford it.
This video proves only one point: Doctors make lousy economists. It's true that over 60% of all healthcare is currently paid for by Uncle Sam but Uncle Sam is not to blame for the rising costs of healthcare and health insurance in the private sector. Ideally the private sector should be more efficient than the public sector. Nevertheless, medicare's and medicaid's administrative costs are about 5%, Blue Shield's are about 25%. Go figure.
Wouldn't a state run system be the best even from a capitalism viewpoint? Since every person is a customer of the state then you don't have to spend money on ads, campains, lobbying etc, and you wouldn't get those insane CEO payments. You'd need less money to do the same work, and since everyone who pays tax is probably more people then those with insurance you get a lower bill spread among more people. I bet more people would pay less then today and more people would get treatment :)
yeah lets give the government all our fucking money so they can tell us what to do with it. LETS SOCIALIZE everything because we are apparently to stupid to pay attention to the government that has already sucken all hard earned tax dollars. So lets give them some more so everyone has fair and descent health care yeah right
schip went nowhere, i'm curious to know if anyone who is against aborting babies thinks that a child who can't get medicaid, or private insurance is just shit out of luck, would not that child have been better off aborted since no one will want to pay. Think about that!!!
Republicans DON'T GIVE A FUCK ABOUT YOU after you have popped out of the womb - once you're born you're on your fucking own. And they make great war fodder.
I think are system of health care should be called law of the jungle. People like you talk bad about Socialized medicine and folks in the countries that used that system say that our system is bad I don't belive either side.
You can't ask a doctor if socialized medicines works. They'll always say know because who's writing their paycheck then.Of course they don't want it.If the govt is going to tax then we should at least get health care.
Does this man not know that compared to other countries, we in the U.S. spend twice as much for a disorganized health care "system" that does less to prevent death and illness?
By the way, how is Dr. Rev. Hon Rep Ron Paul Esq. III doing these days? Think he'll be locking up that nomination soon?
I believe in socialized medicine, I think everyone is entitled to health care. It has worked in other countries and it can work here. Bad health care is better then no health care, which is the reality for a lot of Americans.
Everyone has the right to life. We all need food, shelter, clean water to drink, and healthcare. If we base our sociaty on compitition then what happens to the ones at the bottom? Do you just let them die? NO! So everyone needs the basic essentials to live. Its not fair that privilaged live well while the poor struggle.
So the government will pay for my house, my food, my medical bills? Sounds like a good incentive to drop out of highschool and do nothing with my life while I leech off of people that are working.
Everyone does have the right to life, however if they don't care about education and they get a horrible job, then they deserve nothing.
Yea, The government should provide your housing, food, medical if your not able to do so on your own.
However, you MUST put fourth your best effort to sustain yourself. With the current economy most people will not make enough money to live on their own. Its not our (poor working class) that the country is so bad, so why should we have to suffer for bad leadership.
In a perfect world we wouldn't have to worry about such things. But its not a perfect, world is it?
This is America, everyone is given a chance. I really don't care what your circumstance is to be honest.
I know some girls that went to my highschool that were very poor, however they did well in school got scholarships and are going to graduate college. They did it on their own, they didn't need anyones help and they will soon be good working citizens.
you believe this shit you spout? let me guess.... white, middle class, mummy and daddy got it covered? Nah, you don't need anybody's help - *everyone* in America is given a chance....right?
You're EXACTLY right CMLovejoy. If these assholes want the masses to make it on their own then you better get a fair system in place in which everyone that tries can make it on their own.
And to you assholes out there, that's the point - the SYSTEM is FUCKING THE PEOPLE. People aren't lazy. For every lazy person that doesn't get out of bed in the morning there are 10 trying their best on money doesn't reach.
Hi dickhead. I have a good job and health insurance. But I realize that there are people out there that, for a MYRIAD of reasons, don't.
If you haven't noticed yet, dickhead, that even for the so called middle class wages are stagnant relative to inflation - and companies are trying to save even more money by cutting benefits - namely health benefits.
So YOU may not have a problem now, but some decent, hard-working Americans do. And you might someday.
Another asshole who complains about a "free ride" when most able bodied people learn a trade or get an education and go to a job.
What about those retarded WalMart workers or the guy with the IQ of George Bush that is 40 and still working at a supermarket? Fuck 'em? Let them go to hell?
Yeah asshole, until the money they earn doesn't buy them all the essentials. Gas and oil going up. Insurance get's so ridiculous more jobs cut back on benefits they provide. Housing going up. And the working sucker STILL has to find money to put in his 401K if he wants to semi-survive as an elderly person because companies have gotten rid of pensions. And jerkoffs like you don't care if they privatize Social Security.
I don't know about you, but I don't want to put my life in the hands of a government issued doctor. I went to a public school, funded by the government, and it was awful. The same situation would happen with socialized medicine. The doctors will receive the same check every two weeks no matter what quality of care they provide you with. But you get the joy of dealing with the fast and effective government! Just like at the DMV! Bullshit..
I'll vouch for you, aRIGHTwinger-- it seems like your government-funded education truly was awful. Maybe you are from an area that doesn't believe in funding schools. Too bad about that.
So here's a bit of knowledge for you: in the UK, doctors are paid more if they deliver higher quality care. Their paycheck depends on the level of quality they deliver, and is not the same every two weeks "no matter what quality of care they provide you with."
Let me ask you this. Why is the NHS having to recruit physicians from India, Southeast asia, and the middle east? Why are doctors fleeing the UK for countries where they actually have the freedom to care for their patients as needed, without government waiting lists? Why is the average wait time in a British emergency room four hours?
You know those doctors, a minimum of 11 years after high school and typically 100k+ in debt all motivated by the promise of future income. A motivation to care for people and an interest in the intellectual pursuit of medicine, those don't exist. And that market driven health care never encourages doctors to practice in ways that will get them better reimbursements. I agree, if there were no monetary incentives and only the doctors desire to help the patient, we would only get horrible care.

doctor of a government wants you to recuperate. he gains much more money if you recuperate. he can use the best technology without cares about costs. patient don't have to pay for it.
doctor of a private company wants your money. he uses the best technology if you pay it.
hahahaha! Travel, you fool! I'd put my life in the hands of a govt isued doctor over a private "agenda based" one any day. I want my doctor assessing my health based on what he can do for my health, not whether I can afford the bill. I pity America - I really do. And I pity your inability to understand that your system screws you all. Don't you think you're worth more than the shit you put up with? Even the most underfunded universal healthcare system is better than your crappy private system!
The day I question my advocacy for socialized medicine would have to be the day that I meet or hear about an elderly couple with cancer getting screwed by their insurance and SS who are STILL against it because it's ALWAYS rich healthy republicans with rich relatives who are against it
If socialized medicine is bad, how come the govt offers it to veterans as a BENEFIT? Wouldn't it be called a veterans punishment? Do Republicans think it's so bad that we should remove this benefit from our vets?
Okay then why shouldn't we give everyone below a certain income vouchers and how would that be any different than socialized medicine besides the fact that some hospital ceos or whatever are getting rich for free
As an active duty member of the Navy I can say that our military hospital experiences are worse than the private care I had before the military.
But, to answer you, why do vets get "free" health care? Because it is a part of the contractual agreement that comes with our employment.
It's not the hospital ceo's who are getting rich due to our state of affairs, it's bureaucrats and lobbyists in D.C. that are robbing taxpayers of their money so they can decide for them.
I asked a marine friend of mine and my dad who served in the first Iraq if they'd rather go to the military hospital or private, and they said they liked the military hospitals. And they're very right wing. You the hospital C.E.O's aren't getting rich in the private sector as it is? Aw what a shame. The "brueaucrats" Should get rich, because if a veteran gets sick, we don't have people trying to fuck them out of insurance deals...
----- IF YOU are a doctor I am a SUPERMAN ..... YOU do not have a clue about insurance in USA ..... 2/3 paid by goverment hahahahahaha ...... 1/3 paid by insurance COMPANIES ./.... hahahah I would not like to BE YOUR PATIENT when you become a DOC ............. MEDICAL INSURANCE companies made 400 billion dollars last year ,,,,, and refused to pay for many operations ,,,,, and THEIR CEO's making millions ..... Dennis Kucinich for PRESIDENT 2008 ......
People wake up - there is NOTHING wrong with getting corporations out of medicine, allowing doctors to prosper and have profit, while allowing EACH AND EVERY ONE OF US pay for our health care, FOR EVERYONE, through taxes. STOP believing the propaganda.
Because there is a free-rider problem to deal with in those areas. There is no free rider problem with medical care, so no need to socialize the costs.
Do people want more of the same. Well, most of us physicians know the problems that exist now and would be worsened by a non-caring government and socialist system. The people in charge, have to care about others to care about health care. Most beaurocrats do not!
Being on the inside does make a difference. Refusal of treatemnt and payment happens way too often with both private insurance and the government systems. It is almost socialized medicine, already.
More Republican bull spit propaganda.

I have never had to have an insurance company come between me and my doctor. And certainly never any government official ever gets in the way.
Its just me and my doctor and we decide together what to do. Sane here in Finland as it was in England.
Physician Co-pays are £0 and max €36 a year in Finland
Drug co-pays are £8 in UK and 50% in Finland (max to €500 pa)
I can recomment socialized medicine

If socialized medicine is bad, how come the govt offers it to veterans as a BENEFIT? Wouldn't it be called a veterans punishment? Do Republicans think it's so bad that we should remove this benefit from our vets?

Yes we should. We should give them vouchers, which would let them choose private hospitals. They would get better care.

The "brueaucrats" Should get rich, because if a veteran gets sick, we don't have people trying to fuck them out of insurance deals...

how come no one complains about socialized roads and socialized policing and socialized firefighting?

People do, but this is the issue people are talking about, right now, this campaign.

PRECISELY hairhorn.
