  • this really pisses me off... no not the video (great job dude!!) but when people put negative comments on an awesome attempt. this guy did an amazing job. like my band (Archeagon im a drummer we have vids check us out) we covered i thought you met telly and turned me into casper by emmure. people are already putting dislikes on it... it was a live performance and the audio is bad! why discredit that?? Just like this guy, only your audio is awesome!! stellar performance:)

  • great attempt man keep it up just a couple of tips intro is actully played on a china and you are just a wee bit fast on the main but like i said great first try and keep it up

  • My agazarian hi has sound like a china lol

    That's how bad mine are

  • Ha, that's great. My old hats were like that. For this video, I actually have a 12" china as the bottom hat, and 12" splash as the top hat. The combo is great for a nice trashy sound, and it was cheap too. I usually have them on an auxiliary hi-hat mount for fun choppy patterns. Sometimes I keep them tightly closed for a trashier closed hat sound, but usually they are ever so slightly open for a quick choppy sound. Thanks for the comment!

  • @barcanard

how does that sound when you ride with your left foot?

  • pretty cool!

try to work on ghost notes like Thomas does, to get a better feeling and to groove more

see "Meshuggah's "BLEED" - TOMAS HAAKE DRUM CAM"

  • Comment removed

  • its pretty easy once u figure it out, the hard part is doin it the whole 7 min song.

  • badass

  • niiice job man im very impressed! cant forget about those ghost notes on the snare though!!

  • dude......how is this possible?.........that's amazing.........are you anywhere near Birmingham, AL? I'm looking for a drummer.....

  • idk how anyone can play two time signatures at once(then again, im not a drummer) but that was stinkin awesome bro

  • @MrTrace777

My (13 yr old) friend can play 3 time sigs at once, and he's going for four (one with each limb). He is an insane drummer, but then again, so is the dude in the vid.

  • Dude, you're awesome for even playing those parts!

  • Great vid man! It's been a few years since you posted. Have you gotten it down yet?

  • @AtlasAtPeace Thanks. I actually have it down by now I just need to get it on video. My living situation makes it a little hard to play drums a lot. But I will definitely be putting up a full Bleed video in the next couple months!

  • @barcanard Are you using a china as the bottom high hat? If so is it wuhan and what size? thats interesting

  • Nice to see you lock relaxed even though its hard as f*ck :)

  • Add some ghost notes and it will be perfect :)

  • nice man!

  • pretty badass bro

    been trying for months,

    still cant do it.

  • is that a gretsch catalina maple set up??

  • lol!! i know in his mind at 0:47 hes like "fuck"

  • the kicks must have been hard to learn

  • your really good man

  • @theflyingmadcap Thanks man! I appreciate it!

  • Yo man, you wanna sell a couple of those rack clamps you aren't using?

  • where are your ghost notes

  • This is probably opne of the best videos I've seen of this. Thomas does ghost notes on the snare the whole time though, which makes it so much harder.

  • @iwreckriots I think it probably makes it easier actually, he's playing them to help him keep time. i seriously doubt Thomas is making every note a conscious hit.

However, I have yet to even attempt this song out of fear my brain would ignite.

  • gay

  • @JK4fifty Quit talking about your mom.

  • Dude what are the stickings ( or i guess footings) in this case?

  • you really gotta redo this video. If people are impressed with this, they would freak out if they heard the whole song

  • Heretahs!!!

  • Yes!

  • Holy shit dude, damn! That was amazing.

  • What is with all the extra clamps on the rack?

  • I used to have a couple extra toms, and 3 or 4 more cymbals, then I minimized it a little. I don't know why I had them all on the rack still.

  • is that a china as your bttom hat?

  • It was the Wuhan China/splash set. I thought I would try it for a trash sounding hi-hat. I switched back though. It's more fun as an auxiliary set slightly open. I love it for Meshuggah.

  • @barcanard yeah sounds good

  • @barcanard the wuhan china/splash hi-hat sounds pretty good. this sounds super clean, cant wait till you post a video of the whole thing, im sure it will sound really good.

  • You play it very well ! Omg.

Try with ghost note it's gonna help you

  • Perfect man! Great job!

  • You play it PERFECT!

I've seen pepole on youtube that plays that song, I cant even compare them to that.

    nice one

  • the entire song is hertas

  • and several variations on the herta.

  • Try and throw in the ghost notes on the off beat on the snare like Tomas does!

  • sweet, but you know, i bought my double bass awhileback and the twobass drums didnt sound like that, they sound heavier then yours. is it a different type, or just the camera?

  • might just be the camera, in person it's definitely really deep and heavy sounding. Plus, if you have two bass drums that would make a different sound.

  • YEAH :D

  • whats harder this song or disciple from slayer?

  • bleed definately cause of the polyrythms and the fact that the song is 8 mins long

  • Bostaph and Lombardo are good, but Bleed is much harder then any slayer song...

  • like the drum set, pearl mcx?

  • Thanks! But, no it's Session Custom. I wish it was MCX or any Master's. Still 100% maple though, it gets a nice sound to it with the right heads

  • its the same on guitar. 123 4 123 4 123 4 123 4

  • nice work man thats really fucken good. i wanna know what hes in playin on the kicks how would you count it?

  • try counting at quarter then work your way up a little each time then you'll get the beat down then you have to get the stamina to play all 7 min. thats what i did good luck

  • i think if u wanted to count it it would be 1 2 3 1 2 3 1 2 3 1 2 3 (3/8) but i dont know if that is correct.

  • Yes, that is correct, I still count it in four, it's a polyrhythm of 3 against 4, so you would just need to get used to counting 3/8 with a four beat over top. The actual pattern is rlr l rlr l rlr l, repeated, 2 sixteenths, and 2 eighths.

  • heres the kicks........... R-L-R--L--R-L-R--L-

  • What cymbal u got there on top of your "chi-hat"? below is wuhan 14" i suggest? :P

  • This was a temporary experiment, it's a 12" wuhan splash over a 12" wuhan china. It was sold as a pair, so I wanted to see what it would sound like as a hi-hat. I know Tomas Haake uses different combinations of chinas and crashes as auxiliary hats.

  • VEEERRRYY NICE WORK! keep practicing, you've got the talent

  • ФУУУУУУУУУУУУУУУУУУУУУУУУУУУ

  • China instead of hihat? Sweeet! :D

  • amazing bro, keep it up. Don't let the negative comments get you down. All the idiots dropping negative comments aren't drummers. Anyways, you looked really smooth off the start. Now for the dreaded "GHOST NOTESssssSSSSssS" with an echo.

  • nice hihats!

  • Nice! Now work on those ghost notes on the snare. I don't think Iv'e seen anyone perfecting that yet.

  • wow thats really good

  • Nice work!

  • what is the pattern rlr l rlrlrlr lrl r lrlrlrl. also what ride and snare are those? sound great mate.

  • The first pattern is RLR L RLR L RLR L, and the second verse is RLR L R L RLR L R L RLR L R L

do you mean what crash? I use an 18" Virgil Donati Signature Saturation Crash by Sabian, and also a 17" HH Medium Thin.

My snare is a cheap Pearl Firecracker 12". I am ready to upgrade, but it doesn't sound bad for the price of about $100.

  • Now that summer's just about here, done with classes I'm gonna work on putting up a new video!

  • At least I tried and had fun doing it.

  • Um. That was fucking SICK. Don't even listen to that nigger above.

  • maybe a bit harsh? o but hang on, i forgot, you kan do it 1000x better cant you...

  • Nice attempt, by far pretty good in comparison to many others that have tried.

  • is that a 14" wuhan on the bottom hihat?

  • It's actually 12" wuhan splash on top and china on bottom, makes a really cool trashy sound, but it was just temporary for fun, I use regular hats now, but I still use that setup to my right for meshuggah type rhythms

  • nice work, remember to play the ghost notes that Thomas plays on the snare and cymbals though!

  • u have china or no?cause in the beggining aren't u suppose to do china

  • No, I need one and Yes the beginning is supposed to have china, but this piece is about the foot rhythm rather than whether the cymbal is the right one.

  • u kinda look like gavin harrisson

  • That was really good.

  • i got those mcx with the same finish! good job

  • Keep up man you are so close!!

  • Dude I've watched some of the other drummers on here and I myslef am a drummer and I've seen some guys just can't do it I myself am not as good with my feet so I know I'll have a hard time doing double, single, tripple strokes all at once and not fumbling, but what I'm trying to say is that out of all the videos I've seen and heard from others you FUCKIN NAILED IT!!!! Good Job man

  • Nice hihats! That's a Wuhan (or comparable) 14" china on the bottom? Great aggressive sound!

  • i wish i could do that.. gj

  • awesome

  • nice drum kit

  • fantastico man, saludos desde Chile!!!! :P

  • damn, man, you're almost like haake. great!

  • sick man

  • wow....nice do you have any band? Cause if yes than we could go on a tour with my band :P

  • very good =)

  • real smooth sounds good

  • thats fuckin sick man...

  • is your bottom hi hat a china? lol

  • Yeah temporarily I was using a 12" wuhan china/splash setup.

  • nice cover man. most of these other people cant keep their feet steady but this is really good. but wtf are you using as a hihat????? that looks like a china on the bottom haha

  • U NAILED IT. U RULE!!!!! LETS JAM1!!!

  • Ha, thank you but this video is far from nailing it, I'm gonna put up a more recent one as soon as possible.

  • dangs, thats good

my feet do not move that way

  • wow, finally someone who actually plays "bleed" somewhat decent.. good job man

  • Thank you very much, this is from a while ago, but I just started practicing again, so I'll record a new video with most of the song as soon as I can.

  • Hey man i'll buy a few of those unused clamps from you.

  • Pearl is the way to be.

  • good work bro keep it up.......even i am on my way to finish this song....which school are u studying music in????

  • yea i love that song, play it all the time on my guitar

    and awesome vid

  • dude u r awesome r u in a band

  • Thank you very much, and no I'm not. I'm currently studying music in college, and working so I don't have a whole lot of time for a band.

  • nice drumming, that foot pattern is so hard to play

howd you like the pearl rack? I love mine, got enough clamps there? ^^

  • Thanks man! Yeah, I love my rack, I've had it about six years now, I had some other things on the clamps, but half of them are loose feeling, but they've definitely improved with their new clamps and the curved rack.

  • I never tried the old clamps, but they look a bit crap to be honest

the 8" tom on the left is definitely strange, any reason for it?

  • They are pretty crappy, but they do the job. I have six toms all together, but only five were up at the time of the video, so I had 4 ont he right and decided to put that highest tom on the left. Most of my drumming is not metal oriented at all, except Meshuggah. But I sold my 8", I replaced it with a 10 x 6 popcorn snare, and I love it.

  • ahhh, awesome

sounds like an interesting set up nontheless ^^

I wanna get myself a 10" snare of some kind, the smallest I have is a 12x5 steel shell and it's just too.....versatile ^^

  • amazing footwork man!

  • great job mate!

  • one of the better tries! really good actually! cheers!=)

  • i wish i had enough money to buy a lush kit like that, all i can afford is a standard kit w/ double bass pedal :'(

  • I wouldn't be able to afford one now, but when I was 14, I had my first job, and I talked my mom into buying this custom set with a credit line, then I just paid her every paycheck for a whole year!! What you see is a very bad view of it.

  • dude, you are fuckin damn good

  • SOOO GOOOOD !!!

  • and yes i know tomas does not have an H in his name it was just a typo :)

  • Yeah, he's a ridiculous drummer.

  • ive just watched a video of thomas haake playing this live and the genius even plays ghost notes on the snare amongst all that bass drum :) bloody great

  • Damn you look like my ex bf

  • sweet, maybe.

  • that second temp change amazed me. that snare is awsome! please keep amazing me!

  • that's amazing! i liked this! learn the whole song! =D

  • do you use any double bass techniques like heel toe technique to play this?? or you just play it straight through??

  • I played it with alternating singles on the feet. So , RLR L RLR L RLR L, and so on. Then the second part is RLR L R L RLR L R L RLR L R L. I'm almost 100% certain this is how he plays it, since all the odd groupings make the footing even.

  • no one uses heel toe...dont even worry about that stupid "techique"

  • Many of your extreme drummers use the heel-toe technique. It takes so damned long to develop that guys with jobs (like me) don't have the time to put in mastering it. If you can put in the time and have the discipline, you'll find it to be a very efficient way of playing the pedals. I wish I could conquer it.

  • lol, its the worst technique of all. And hmm i think tim waterson uses it......then again he is a failure at drums.

  • Thanks for the tip. Where can I purchase your book?

  • any store that has music supplies/books ect. its called 'how to not suck at double bass' look it up.

  • haha

  • Look this up. Thomas Lang, Virgil DOnati, Steve Smith, Marco Minneman, and more. They all use heel/toe - and well. I've tried and can't seem to get the hang of it; so I don't use it. That doesn't mean I'll call the technique useless or horrible due to frustration because I suck at it. It's a good technique if you can get your skills up to doing it.

  • Virgil Donati does not use heel toe, I'm not sure about the others but Virgil definitely does not.

  • Yeah, heal toe is unnecessary. I've never heard a good drummer that can use the technique perfectly and fluently. It's far more practical and effective to use regular double bounces, there is no need for the heel. And if you can get it right, the bounce feel makes more sense and is more natural. But, with this song, it's only advisable to play doubles if you want to raise the bar, since you'd be leading with right, then left, instead of right all the time. And singles are much more powerful.

  • Well, when I play it I start with a double on the right foot. You seem like you're better at double bass playing than I am though. How do you phrase it?

  • I dont use doubles with my feet for this, and even though Virgil is the master at doubles, I don't think he would use them either for this. I play it, as well as Tomas Haake, RLR L RLR L (phrased in 3/16), etc, instead of RRL R LLR L, although it's possible, it is just not as powerful. The second verse is RLR L R L RLR L R L (in 5/16). Try it out, it feels much easier. I've seen Virgil play similar patterns, and he does without doubles.

  • The way I think of it is to start with R R L R R L R R L R R L then add in a 32nd note in between the two Rs with a left, so it becomes RLR L RLR L RLR L RLR L. Strictly alternating footwork

  • Thanks. I think I'll mess around with that next time I have time to play drums by myself and do what I feel like doing (when ever that may be). Guys like Haake just impress me. When I was young and in a thrash band, we had Lombardo, Benanti, etc...who were great with speed. This Haake guy actually makes cool patterns AND has speed. I also like the guy from Machine Head...forgot his name...Dave something? And the guy from Killswitch, Foley I think.

  • Hey man...that a Wuhan you're using for a bottom hat? I'll bet that has a nice, trashy sound.

  • yeah, it's a wuhan china and splash stacked 12" , I was just using it as an experiment, I have them closed always on my right side now, with normal hats on left. It definitely gives a nice trashy sound.

  • I have the same thing. I got the Wuhan free one day for buying some other stuff. I hat stack mine like you...Wuhan on bottom and a 10" splash on top. I probably need a larger top cymbal though...mine don't sound too good.

  • damn, nice. I can only play a few sections, likke the way you did it. I can play the 3rd one and some farther towards the end

  • i think the best double bass technique so far i think you nailed it.

  • so you learned this by knowing how to play drums and listening to the song over and over or did i confuse it how i read it haha

  • Well I learned it by listening to it, and I know how to play it all, I just haven't pulled it together yet. I basically have the mental aspect, just not the physical capabilities yet. I need to put up a video of most of the song, it has been a long time since I put up this video.

  • yeah i know i saw that you have comments from a long time ago but i think it's awesome that people can learn a song just by listening to it a lot theirs this boy who did that with an animosity song and now he just put the faceless's new song up with his drum cover but how long do you think it will be until you put it up

  • Well, I haven't really practiced it since the contest months ago, so I'll work hard at it for the next week and try to have something up.

  • the parts you actually played were pretty good

  • I thought that was a really good try at it, I know i couldn't do that so well done!!!!!

  • Is this polymetric??? If so, what time signatures is it, I cant make it out.

  • Meshuggah plays this in 4/4 time signature, however it is polyrhythmic. The hi-hat and snare play in 4/4 most of the song, while the bass drum plays different times. The very first part the bass drum can be counted in groups of 3/16 notes. The next part the bass drum can be counted in groups of 5/16 notes.

  • its in 4/4 and switches into 3/4 and a few other times..as far as polyrhytmic..its not to complex with polyrhythms as other meshuggah songs

  • Very well, dude.

But I dunno why are you playing snare like it's some pop balad!?!

  • Tu est influencé par Morgan Agren ? ton kit est puissant.

  • mapex pro-m

  • Nice rack...

  • anyone notice he has a wuhan 12-14 inch china as his bottom hat?

  • ha, yeah that was a just a temporary experiment, I have my other hats closed on the right of me. But recently I've switched back. I'm about to order some new ones.

  • nice

  • good job =]
