from what i saw in this video, mendenhall needs to have the defense to have a breakdown to get some open space and move around. The defenses in the big 10 aren't as good as the ones in the nfl but they are not "bulletproof". Over/under one 100 yd game for mendenhalll this season?

the steelers only had 1 game where 1 rookie started this year. and it was mendenhall facing the NFL's best rush defense (at the time, besides the steelers), he only got to play one quarter.
limas sweed started 0 games, he only dropped 2 balls all season, and hasnt had his time to play.
dennis dixon is actually a 4th QB and it didnt matter if he was injured or not becuase he was low on the depth chart anyway

from what i saw in this video, mendenhall needs to have the defense to have a breakdown to get some open space and move around. The defenses in the big 10 aren't as good as the ones in the nfl but they are not "bulletproof". Over/under one 100 yd game for mendenhalll this season?

I'm still waiting for a back to pump his legs thru the play, like he wants those extra yards. Isaac Redman was showing that all preseason long, getting 6 yds out of 2, etc. Of course the staff didn't see the same thing and practice squaded his butt. The only leg pumping going on now is FWP stutter-stepping before he hits the hole. We don't look like the steelers I grew up with, unless you count the TommyGun era. We saw how that worked. Sit Summers or use him, and give the Redman a try??

To start off I'm a steelers fan as well....however....first FWP is injury prone as fuck and will lose carries as this is a contract year and we will give mendenhall every opportunity to supplant him as the starter so we don't need to resign him. That being said, something about Mendenhall I just don't like...not sure what....I'm more excited to see if Frank Summers develops into our new bus.

the steelers only had 1 game where 1 rookie started this year. and it was mendenhall facing the NFL's best rush defense (at the time, besides the steelers), he only got to play one quarter.
limas sweed started 0 games, he only dropped 2 balls all season, and hasnt had his time to play.
dennis dixon is actually a 4th QB and it didnt matter if he was injured or not becuase he was low on the depth chart anyway
bruce davis, again hasnt had his chance to play, and therefore cant be judged

Davis was held at higher expectations as a rookie. He was supposed to do ST's this year, and then the rotation of linebackers and eventually replace Farrior or Foote. Limas won't be a stud. He dropped an "easy ball". Sure, in the same situation, I would have got nervous and dropped it, but I'm not in the NFL for a reason. Mendenhall was abysmal the entire season, and Ray Lewis did us a favor by knocking him out. He fumbled every play, and when he didnt, he couldnt ever get more than a yard.

come on, let's be honest, Steelers rookie always come out as a beast. Our entire team is based on drafting rookies with potential and nurturing them until their sophomore or 3rd yr and then we unleash them and win a Superbowl. In the 08 season, no rookies started for the Steelers. Come 09, Mendenhall and Fast Willie will rip it up, Lima Sweed, Santonio Holmes, and my man Hines Ward will blow everyone away. Not to mention the Steel Curtain.

Just wait until next year. This is Jerome Bettis Jr. in the making. This guy's speed, size and strength all remind me of when the Bus was playing. rashards been on IR since week 4 or 5 and even when he played he fumbled the ball almost twice a game....and limas sweed drops half the passes ben sends his way... and Bruce Arians isnt the reason the offense hasnt been as strong as the defense, its called a depleted offensive line, injured running backs, and a roethlisberger who consistently missed 2 or 3 practices a week for quite some time... THEY STILL DOIN IT! go steelers

Agree, Arians is terrible. I don't understand why the Steelers quit doin the fullback thing. I mean, Kreider was one of the best run-blockers in the NFL, and we easily coulda kept him.
