@maprukas good point. ottoman music is mostly based on derived from anatolian greek music, careful: not hellenic, ANATOLIAN GREEK, which we call "Rum" (Roman).

I am a history professor (I am not Turk), i can say that the first Kanun was made by Farabi, a Turkish philosopher, and i know that when the Ottomans were using Kanun, Greeks were learning how to shit and clean their asses..

For example: Halil Karaduman (I wonder you wrote his name in your homepage), Göksel Baktagir, Ahmet Meter and so on...you even have no turkish-kanun clips added to your favorites. It's not my aim to say the Kanun belongs to the Turks or the turks are better, I just think it's a shame how disrespectfull you treat Turkey. It's just impossible to talk about Kanun and to ignore Turkey and turkish music at the same time...I would expect that from a politician, but not from a musician...

The Kanun is much popular in turkish music than it is in greek music, the technique of Kanun is more developed in turkey, although you refuse to write one word about Turkey in relation with the Kanun. You talk about Constaniople, should I really remember you, that this city's real name is ISTANBUL (since 1453), one of your albums is called "Music of Kurdistan", what is Kurdistan? I can't find it on the map? This all can't be a coincidence, the best Kanun Players in the world come from Turkey
