  • greeting you from Thailand .

yes, good exercise ..this instrument most use in Europe ..but I never see in Asia especially in Thailand and perhaps in South East Asia too.

good for using this because the handle that long enough to let your body can straight standing ,so that no problem with your waist ..

  • it appears to be rather relaxing after watching some of scythesman8's videos. These people seem to put all there umpf and gusto into it making it look like a hard labouring type of work. Thank you for showing me that it does not have to be a labour thirsty type of work and the pluss sides of using a scythe instead of a motorised mechanical machine to mow the hay

    Thankyou

    Matt :)

  • I did this when I visited my relatives in Ukraine. It was really hard work, but honest work. The meal drinks jokes and happy times after the end of a hard days work is my most memorable experience in my life. I would move to the Ukraine village life in a flash. I am bored of the Ipod and 3D TV.

  • Nothing wrong with their lifestyle. We in Western Europe will be doing this soon. And it will be better for our health as you don't see fat on their bodies. We need to live with nature not against it,

  • I feel sorry for the cows that have to eat that. Doesnt look like hay to me.

  • couldent you invest in a strimmer ?

  • @johndeer7030 they are generally a little slower, and on grass that long they are much slower.

  • @JonathanZeidman Brush cutter would work well. Its the same prisipal as a disk mower only it wasnt made for the purpose of cutting grass. But works jsut as good.

  • @johndeer7030 good point. i was just thinking of corded trimmers, which clog. still, in the 2 competitions i've seen/heard of between strimmers and scythe, both times the scythe won, based both on the amount cut (narrow advantage to the scythe) and of course uniformity of the cut, which was a clear scythe win. i've used both, prefer the scythe, except when i'm not sure if there are buried obstacles in the ground, or lots of rocks, when i'd much rather fit a string than ding a blade.

  • @JonathanZeidman Valid point there. In tall grass like that a strimmer would clogg in seconds. Like i said with the brush cutter it wouldnt get clogged but it would be highly in affective in short grass. It also has a small cutting area compared to a scythe. I think what i was trying to get at in the first place was less manual labour as this seems rather tedious work and you must have some muscle to lift that scythe. Looks like you work up a big sweat doing this type of work aswell.

  • @johndeer7030 i suppose it can be tedious, or relaxing, depending on your mood. it's lighter to carry around all day than a gas-powered, but the swinging motion takes some more muscle, although not necessarily a lot if your blade is kept sharp. there's some videos around here that show people with better technique, these guys, or this camera, make it look harder, their motions are a little jerky and aggressize. check out the videos by kaivido or scythesman8.

  • ciężka robota

  • This is grass quite late in the season ? looks like hard work

  • it's not hard work!
