  • What's with the terrible stock music? I could've learned something from that guy, but I couldn't hear him over the tune, and I couldn't stand the tune enough to watch!

  • Wow, that is sure a lot of work, but I truly enjoyed watching and listening to all that was said and explained about it. Great watch...talented man! Eyes sometimes speak louder than words....

  • This was a great inspiration. I work as a teacher in woodcraft i Sweden, if i could aford to give you a ticket to come here i would. Would be fun to show my pupils.

  • TAke the MUSIC out please...

    Thanks!

  • does nobody else have issue with this video??? That man is making white oak baskets for the white man!! Places like this are historical relics that should be banned. The time of slavery is over! Why does nobody else see this???

  • @emixcube i agree with you brother

    PANTHERS

  • @emixcube actually the video doesn't say to whom the basket is being made for.

  • @emixcube You are a total moron! He's an ARTIST and no one cares about what race he is!!! A VERY talented artist and you, obivously, are a racist.

  • He has more patience than I. I never realized how much work went into a basket

  • whats with the crappy music?

  • I'd have preferred to hear him about how to run the split in the pole with the froe. I managed to make my own yurt, and i need to split saplings to have thin planks to do the lattice.

  • Splinter heaven

  • this man can use a knife

  • who da faaaaa put that damn music over what he is saying,

    tarded.

  • Great basket!! Lack of a finished product was a little disapointing though. Get rid of the music. Lets hear him speak!!!

  • Music is too loud to hear what he is saying =(

  • tha fuck? no finished product after all that. Get rid of the music so we can hear what the man has to say./

  • Awesome, but mute it. Sadly you can't hear his voice over the cheesy background music.

  • Thank you for sharing.

  • Awesome vid , loose the music tho , it would be much nicer to here him talk .

  • A very talented man in this video. He must be one of a small handful of people that still have this knowledge. I very much enjoyed the video but would have liked to hear the narrative of the man doing the work. A man that good with his hands needs to be heard to pass this master craft on to others. Excellent video.

  • your incredible!!!!!!!!!!!!! that guy is amazing. great job

  • cool vid - cool music, I personally thought guitar went well with this video, considering half of what was said was probably not coherent anyway.

  • get rid of the music so we can hear what he is saying! This guy is amazing!

  • lol! i see so many complaining about the music, and wanting to hear whats being said. well i had no trouble hearing him speak, but most importantly i could SEE what he was doing, i dont think i saw anything there that needed too much explanation anyway.

    great video, great music!

some whingebags want it all on a plate!

  • @whackitov not everyone has your abilitly to hear through what feels like elevator music. It is a matter of courtesy to the man showing us his talent. I tend to think that true learning is not just having the ability to see with our eyes. True observation uses all the senses and we could have gleaned a little about who this man is and hear him with pride tell us about his craft. Please dont get positive criticism mixed up with negitive whingebags.. there has been a lot of praise for this video.

  • i happen to be deaf in one ear and had no problems, so i wonder why so many apparently cant hear what hes saying

  • Where is this place?

  • Excellent video and it will last for quite some time as well and is better than other natural fibers from smaller shrubs. Thank you for the video.

  • fucking 11 minutes and it didn't show the final effect!!!

  • guy has great skills but video sucks

  • Get rid of the lame music!!

  • i couldn't hear him...

  • wish y'all would post this again without the music so I can listen to the man a making the basket.

  • `reallybueatiful basket. where can one buy these???

  • pakistan !

  • Wish I could hear the instructions instead of music.

  • Me too.

  • nice vid but could have shown finnished product. Yeh, that would have been handy. thanks anyhow

  • I really liked watching this. From the looks of the basket at the end, it was going to become a thing of beauty. I wish I had heard his voice.

  • i think the music helps you to concentrate however, i didn't quite grasp how the folds end up like sticks to weave.

The video was very interesting tho

  • Too distracted by the noise and sappy guitar music to finish watching your video. You're trying to include too much multimedia. Keep it simple.

  • If I wanted to hear a guitar, I would have searched that... I would rather listen to the guy and maybe learn what he had to say.

  • Wow, after enduring over 4.30 minutes about how to shape the strips, over 6 minutes for the making of the base, I was hoping to AT LEAST get to see the transition between that and starting to weave the rest of the basket !!

It's nice and everything but I saw a lot of videos that were nice and short and showed me a LOT more stuff, that I could actually do myself...

Apart from that, how does he not get spelks in his hands doing this 0_0

    Anyway

  • great video.

  • It looks so easy, I bet it takes several years if not a life time to master it.

I love the music, it fits perfect.

    great video!

  • Is there any way to get rid of that really insipid annoying muzac. It detracts so much from the subject of basket making. In fact, the music spoils what would otherwise be a very good informational video. I am a musician and song writer.

  • what did he say ??????

  • music sucks.

  • The was great, although i would have preferred to hear the talking instead of being subjected to meaningless pretty guitar music. I wanted to hear what he had to say!!!!

  • @catherineyronwode

    Agreed!

    Let us hear the craftsman!

  • very interesting

  • Im interested in the book you mentioned. Where can I get one? Thank you.

  • Fred made no mention of a book

  • Im sorry, is the gentleman in the video name is Fred? I was actually asking of a previous poster oakbasketman when he mentioned a book he wrote. I was not trying to take away any credit from your video here. This is a very good video and I really enjoy these type of crafts, though I dont know how to do them, Id kike to learn. Thanks

  • Very nice. Thanks

  • This is great. Thanks so much. It's calming with the music. And the visuals say a thousand words.

  • I have been making split white oak baskets of all kinds for many years trying to keep the art alive. have written book showing full methods with pictures of entire process. This video is wonderful education for all those who enjoy the old time craft of white oak basketmaking.

  • Im interested in you're book. Please tell us more about it. Is in in print? Thank you.

  • WOW!

  • Excellent show of how to clean up and split a white oak stick. The way he began the basket was also fascinating. I would have loved to see the part that was missing wherein he stood the basket up and began working the sides.
