  • Mac comes with two viruses built-in: the OS, and the Geniuses. Not kidding.

  • the upgrades wipe out my itunes. currently, the ltest upgrade wiped out sound throughout the system. way to go, apple idiots

  • Randomenamename

Mac comes with an exeptional anti-virus.

And the statment that you dont get as much as you pay for mac does with a 1.3 ghz core what windows does with an 2.2 ghz so you get what you pay fore

(me resantly swiched to mac and lovin it)

  • I don't have any problem using it ... Not at all slow and am very happy with it ... No problems since I bought it a year ago or so ..

  • Retard, hold your power button for 10 seconds.

  • Screen FLICKER!!!!! (pissed off) and disappointed from apple >:

  • i paid 600 dollars for my pc and i love playing my games!

  • @HcUoGcEk so can he and he can probably even play them better than you're pc:P

  • @bambinosto not really... macs don't have nearly as big of a variety of games compared to pc and i have some top of the line hardware for 2\3 the cost of a mac..

  • You suck

  • Should have got windows 7.... Macs are a joke...

  • @sumthin333 for like three times as much lol

  • @sumthin333 says the guy who gets millions of viruses and cant afford a mac

  • @james123428 Viruses have never been a problem for me and I use a PC with just a simple avg free anti virus which I hardly ever notice.

Macs are growing in popularity, that destroys the statement of "macs dont get viruses" because soon there are going to be lots of more viruses for macs, its now a credable target and since most mac users haven't bothered to get an anti virus, it is you who will be dealing with them. Also as for cant afford, you get much more computer for your money with a PC.

  • @sumthin333 your a joke

  • @sumthin333 thank god some one els thinks so

  • @sumthin333 I said that too until I actually got one...they are spec wise way better

  • @sumthin333 Ur a Fucking Joke

  • I switched from leopard to snow leopard 2 days ago on a MBP 17" 3.1 model. My screen blink wierd then it freezed. It has happened 3 times since the install.

It also happened on imovie, while adding text over a preset white background from imovie's titles.

  • Maybe cus it is 2008 model

  • thts cuz ur suppose to wait for awhile cuz everythng tht is realeased on the first day always have probs

  • @blaxican5895 finally someone shares my views... XD

  • hey Luke, how are you finding Snow Leopard now. I got my iMac this year and Snow Leopard is the best OS experience i've ever had. not a single problem. as i've said in a couple of other comments i think it was just teething problems for the OS. A lot have it. couldn't ask for a more stable OS now.

  • you dont have to pull out the battery, just press and hold the power button

  • im on day 4!!!! not yet on day 5 :|

  • @juankrlox you'll be fine. i'm past month two and not had a single problem with Snow Leopard. look at the date of the video. New Operating Systems often have teething problems or unfixed bugs. Doesn't usually take long for them to get sorted.

  • man u gotta tell this to apple this aint a joke u did paid some money u did not do this all for free eh...

  • Yes OS X SL 10.6.4 runs super stable and perfect on PC top of the line equipment... Doesn't overheat, no screen blemishes, nor screen flickering, no graphics card failure, etc... oh thats on macbook pro's! lol.... yes folks OS X SL runs excellent on PC hardware! especially on a Asus G2S 17" WUXGA beautiful brilliant screen, 2.2ghz Intel Core 2 Duo, 4gbs gaming memory sticks, OC'd nVidia GPU... Laptop! Looks gorgeous too! all for only $29 folks... running the amazing Windows 7 dual boot too..

  • How much did your overpriced plain shiny metal with basic hardware mac's cost you? hehehe.... ok... OS X is for simple people and Windows is for power users!

  • nope not having any at all. i paid 2000 for mine imac and nothing is wrong, its working like a beast

  • So far I've had hardly any problems with it , if ya havent updated yet probably worth it

  • Feel you it happened to me two times. but not when i opened the mail. But when i had youtube and spotify at the same time. So i hade to turn off the macbook but that took me 3 min before the my mac would shut down. After one week when i first bought it. So that sucks and i have a dead pixel :(. 6/5 stars to your vid! But i have the latest macbook pro 13,3 inch 2,66 Ghz

  • Comment removed

  • the problem is with your hard drive not the operating system you need to replace the hard drive or get a new computer.

  • I have had issues with the DVD player for the most part. It either freezes or crashes on certain movies.

  • did u do optional installs, that's what solves it. now on 10.6.3, its fine.

  • BTW, just hold the power button for 7 seconds if you encounter that problem. Kinda late but just a tip @DiMcoProductions

  • problems have been fixed. you can do 2 things to fix any problem you are having: 1, if for example traktor is having problems, go to the traktor website and find the snow patch. 2. just update snow leopard to 10.6.4 and its fixed all of my problems with mixing software and just performance in general

  • NO PROBLEMS AT ALL....JUST SAFARI SOMETIMES

  • Never had any problems, except with a free Flight Sim called Flightgear (The website warned it would crash on Mac constantly, not a problem I guess) and I had Google Chrome crash on me once or twice (I had maybe 10-12 tabs running, that could have caused the problem, never had problems when I had a few tabs open). Then again, I have the new MacBook Pro with Snow Leopard pre-installed

  • My iMovie crashes like twice a day! It sucks.

  • Has this been updated and fixed since?

  • @BEB131 yess... i have no problems with it... super fast

  • i just got a macbook pro osx !0.6 Snow leopard and i think its pretty good but this is my first mac book and im still toying around with it but if i have any of the same probs you'll be the first to talk to lol

  • Mail has been very glichy on Snow Leopard i've noticed, but i don't use it that much. When i do i always have to Force Quit it and once it froze my MacBook and i had to pull the battery but on all my other macs i just Force Quit mail so i'm not sure what'z up with Mail

  • lol i just downloaded planet luke! its pretty good actualy! keep going!

  • I had the same problem with my mail app too... this happend on my newer iMac 27in. but after I pulled the power on it.... it wouldnt boot... :( it took a while but the a screen finaly came up and said that there was no bootable disk.... a blue screen of death... but for the mac.... NOOOOOOOOOOO!!!! So after taking it to apple and them replacing my iMac... It works perfectly fine now.... By the way today I subscribed to you... and I have almost watched ALL your videos.. I love them!!!

  • HOW did you pull the battery on it? :/

  • am i the only person here whos wondering if this guy has EVER had sex in his LIFE? i searched "pissed off leopard" hoping to find a funny video my friend told me about where a stupid kid teases the wrong leopard. i've instead found you. for the love of god, you're a decently attractive boy, go play outside! i dont know what snow leopard is but by the sound of it ITS NOT NECESSARY!

  • @critterchik I felt embarrassed for you when I read this. Go swallow a knife, and get f**ked up by a leopard.

  • @critterchik Go get f**ked up by leopard please.

  • @mkennedy184 yeah sorry im too busy doing things NORMAL 21 year olds do. things YOU GUYS should be doing instead of sitting at home alone blogging about computer software for christs sake. if i went and got fucked up by a leopard at least that'd mean im out doors doing things with my life instead of just rotting inside four walls all the time weaving back and forth to the clickity clack of my own keyboard

  • no iam not

  • that is a internal issue and all computers will have a unperfected response. i have a upgraded natural 10.4 to 10.6 and have had simular cell phone problems. it is the life of a man made product. bye.

  • the part that pisses me off the most is in photobooth even tho theres no screen flash but it makes it all negative still

  • I actually have been having similar problems with Snow Leopard programs crashing and not opening. Interesting, thought it was just me.

As for any program in the Adobe suite they run perfectly.

  • Now that you actually mention it, before I updated to 10.6.3 there was a few things, My screen would sometimes flicker, I thought I was just imagining things, imovie quit unexpectedly about twice, But since 10.6.3 those things just disappeared.

  • pull the battery!!! just hold down power! You don't know these issues are snow leopard. Similar issues existed in leopard occasionally. Can't speak to photoshop.

  • @chaz4510 agreed!! :D

  • Dude I have to pull the battery on my compaq at LEAST once a week

  • ohh.. i feel so bad for u :(

  • Only problems with TimeMachine through External harddrive at Airport Exterm

  • did you try a hard shutdown by holding down the power button? or just a restart.....

photoshop is not an Apple product....

  • @soopertramp

What are you talking about PhotoShop first release in 1988 was for Apple Macintosh only... So what do you mean it's not an Apple product ? If you mean it's not made by apple you're right, if you mean it's not made for Apple computers you're wrong...

PhotoShop was made for Mac only for there years this is what started this myth that Mac is made for artist, but these days that's not true because you can get more artist software on Window than you can Mac...

  • Nothing in my Macbook Pro 15" 320GB does have any problems like yours had...about the adobe cs3...i wonder if you use the CS4 you wouldn't have any problem coz mine uses CS4 and I can still multitask with After effects and Final Cut Pro...something is definitely wrong..

  • Yea, while using snow leopard on my macbook my keyboard stops working. It is extremely annoying. Also, I am noticing massive memory leaks of about 10-30G space. Thats outrageous. I am not sure wether to ditch now leopard or not...

  • ive just had a problem with my canon printer. it works fine, but when i go to use the scanner function it doesnt work. i installed the patch from apple.. but still didnt do anything.. frustrated.

  • I have problems with iMovie with titles, and i cant see the background behind the text, its only black. And travel maps are the same

  • I am having issues with graphic distortion. Usually happens with top sites in Safari, but it can also happen in other applications as well. Even after upgrading to 10.6.2 I'm having the same problems.

Its quite upsetting considering what we Apple consumers expect for our products. Hopefully Apple will figure it out soon!

  • Yo bro, I aint have no problems with mac os x snow leopard but I did have a prob with my photoshop as well.

  • With regards to the frozen app, and having to wait for you battery to power down, there's an easier way!

    Type the following in Terminal.app:

    ps -ef | grep Mail.app

Look for the process numer associated to it, and then kill it, by typing:

    kill [process number]

Same can be applied to any process for that matter.

    @Ringo7000 - nice trolling.

  • just hold down the power button lol! :P

  • you paid photoshop ... hmm show me proof ,jus kiddin but haw can you afford photoshop a macbookpro a camera etc?

  • By earning it maybe?

  • when ever something freezes and nothing happends. Go to terminal type in killall mail

    or kill what ever crashes.

dont pull the battery that is a bad idae

  • They fixed all the bugs I was getting when it came out. I'm happy!

  • mine runs fine. got a 2006 macbook pro 2.0 ghz and 2 gb ram. cam with tiger...

then got a friend at mac to install leopard. and bought snow leopard on the same day. im happy with it

  • Mac sucks. Get a real computer already.

  • hahaahhahah thats a laugh, the greatest computer ever is the mac.

    Mac > PC

    Jobs > Gates

  • you can do a force shut down just hold the power button until the screen turns black and turns off. I Have no problems and i have a 17" unibody macbook pro. Running 3.0 hurts pro. with 4gigs of ram. And the same macbook pro 15" you have i run the same apps and did the same things and had no problems at all. The only problem i had was it was too fast for me haha! I dont know what to tell you but maybe some 3ed party software is causing the problem!

  • yea , i´ve bean having problems with my macbook pro and snow leopard also. i love most of the new features specially quicktime 10 but i can´t run Pro Tools properly since they don´t support snow leopard yet and the whole system seems slower to me and since my main app is pro tools i might have to downgrade to regular leopard and wait for the patch from digidesign :(

  • i Question on this video, debating about buying it or not. I Actually bought it, and had no problems. I Guess im lucky?!?

    lol

  • I am so glad I didn't switch to SL. When I heard it was gonna be only minor changes I thought, eh, I'll skip this update for a bit.

On the downside though, iTunes 9.0 sucks!! I'm one of those hardcore snobby Mac users that PC owners love to hate, but Apple is slipping lately. They push iTunes store too much!

  • First, You DON'T have to put your battery out when the computer freeze, just let the power button pressed to power off.

Second: Men, you obviously have a HD issue, and it's not from SL, don't you think everybody should be a little bit crazy about this if SL was that awfull ?

Just take it to a service provider

  • Maybe he didn't have time to play with his computer. Some of us have to go to work, take care of our kids and generally take care of our lives and responsibilities.

  • I'm not going to discard my computer. I mean it does run Windows. But IF WINDOWS 7 runs better than Snow Leopard, I might as well shrink my mac partition down to 30 GB and do everything in Windows. Anyhoot, I like to think that Apple programmers are doing their darndest present Snow Leopard as a product more reliable than Windows 7 before it comes out.

  • Only thing I don't like about snow leopard is that the play/pause button on the apple remote makes iTunes open up. I use the apple remote for a 3rd party app, NOT for iTunes. I love apple but they're kind of starting to piss me off now.

  • Finally the problems with Snow Leopard are more than just a few quirks. There are many users with fairly recent mac who are experiencing problems way worse than I am, and I am not content to live with the ones I have for more than a few weeks. If OS X is not better than Windows anymore, there is no reason to support it.

  • Which means that you are fairly well-off if you can afford discarding a Mac just like that and switching to Windows. Good for you. And yes, many PCs are much cheaper than Macs. Happy computing under Windows 7!

  • Now I've doing a little reading, and I found many people complaining about the these same problems. If Apple wants to beat out Windows 7, They'd better get all this shit fixed, before Windows 7 is released.

  • Are you trying to say that because of a few little OS quirks which most users have not had at all, and which will soon be fixed, people will abandon Macs en masse and switch to Windows? Where's logic in this? Just think about Vista, which is such a failure! Following your "logic", by now every one should be using Macs! Now, you think Windows 7 will be any different than Vista? No, it will not as it is based on the same architecture, profoundly flawed.

  • What i am saying is that the Windows 7 public beta for about a year now. So it is POSSIBLE that Windows 7 goes on sale with fewer problems than Snow Leopard has now. IF THAT WERE TO HAPPEN, Apple's reputation for reliability might be damaged. It clearly behoves Apple to fix all these issues before the release of Windows 7.

  • One more thing. My experience is that most problems are on the user end. Why did the guy who complains in the movie posted above start experiencing problems after five days? He did not use email for five days? iMovie is a different story, you probably do not use it every day, but still - these are Apple programmes which work seamlessly. I am pretty sure he experiences some software conflicts without realising it. Anyway, Snow Leopard is still new. Give it more time.

  • I think they're already on 10.6.2. correct me if im wrong but that should have been fixed already.

  • I've had had quite a few problems since I installed Snow Leopard on my March 2009 MacBook Pro. First of all, Intego Virus Barrier X5: Every time I do a full system scan, it freezes up the system, usually when it gets to 80 to 90 per cent.

I also find that system runs a lot hotter: over 90 degrees centigrade with a steady system load of 30 to 40 per cent.

Finally it messed up my microphone input.

  • I didn't do a clean install just a regular upgrade. After which my HP2500n printer didn't work, wireless mighty mouse doesn't connect, iMovie crashes and its only been 24 hours. What a mistake doing this upgrade. I am so glad I didn't upgrade all the MACs in the house. Latest HP drivers (10.6 compatible) don't work but found a fix eventually on the web. This weekend when I have the time I will do a clean install back to 10.5.7. I think 10.6 was rushed out early to steal the Windows 7 release.

  • I get probloms with it 2

Screwing me over devloper my iphone app cant run on new sdk and snow leo cant run old sdk dash code fail and a few of my programs dont work on day 4

  • hey, what province do you live in?

  • gave me about the same

  • So you did not got 25GB free... You got less, but everyone think it's the same hdd-space count as in leopard/windows/linux....

  • and before I turn off the mac, I set the volume to low and when I boot it up, volume is high, called Apple and they try reboot, take out battery etc. nothing works, they just told me to wait for a update on snow leopard.

  • Mine keep turning on Bridge when I turn on my mac.

  • hey man ya i got snow leapord the day it came out to im running a 13" white mac book and i havent had anyproblems what so ever with my snow leapord do u think it might just be like a macbook pro thing ?

  • Same problem here!

  • I did a clean install as well, i also have the 2.4 unibody macbook pro. i really have not had any HUGE issues like yours. I did have a similar mail issue, where it wouldn't shut it self down, but option command esc quitted the application.

I have not done any photo work, but I have been running Logic Pro 09 and its been quite smooth.

Cant wait for 10.6.1 to iron out some of this.

  • o god,did i hav problems on snow leopard.

exactly 5min after installing it, itunes+iphoto froze, safari crashed, and all my apps werent launching nearly as fast. that was the first time my Mac Book Pro ever crashed

my trackpad sometimes doesnt function properly with expose

and when i insert the disc in windows to install bootcamp drivers, theres no "install drivers" option.anyone know why?

it took 5bootups for it to work properly and quickly, but trackpad and windows drivers problem is still there

  • hey, i havn't been having any problems regarding applications crashing or freezing. the speed has increased a bit nothing far off from leopard. things like downloading shockwave 11 not being able to go on oovoo and stuff like that have been pissing me off...hopefully apple steps up on this one and makes the effort to fix this stuff. good video

  • Since I bought my macbook pro recently, I got Snow Leopard for $10. I wouldn't have spent any more money for it, to be honest. All it gives you is speed. Nothing else is any different at all. Plus Gmail was down that day, giving you the problem. I was having issues with Gmail that day, but just on the gmail website.

  • So, I just installed snow leopard, also love the opening and closing of programs and the expose in the dock. Gmail working for me, so far. BUT, my fan is running almost constantly.. It barely has ever come on since I have had my Macbook 2.4ghz late 2008. Adobe after effects, and ps cs4 are running extremely slowly too.

  • I have no problems with Snow Leopard , I run windows ... lol, just messing with you guys, only kidding

  • I'm trying in vain to get some work done in Excel and it crashes every time I save to a folder on my desktop, oddly it doesn't crash saving to the desktop??

Also Safari, it crashed at least 50 times yesterday, Firefox almost as bad.

Never had these many problems with a Mac OS since the infamous 7.5.5.

Other apps crashing: TextEdit, Text Wrangler, iPhoto, CS3 Dreamweaver

  • If you have any safari plug ins or startup items in accounts on log in ... get rid of them or disable them ..

  • I think iMovie crashing is not because of Snow Leopard. When I got my Macbook Unibody 5 Months ago, A Week after I had it, iMovie was Crashing like 5 Times! I called Apple and they told me how to fix it

  • any older computer running a newer os is gonna hav bugs

  • why dont u shove ur cock up ur macbook pro if u love it so fucking much

  • So many designers that bought CS3 in the ladder year of that release are screwed and this is what John Nack says :

"This isn't some kind of ploy to force people to upgrade; rather, it's a recognition that resources are not infinite, and we need to focus our efforts on current and future technology," he said.

Not infinite ???? a fucking year or so old is infinite to him ??? This is all a money racket !!! Corporate America FUCK OFF !!

  • This is straight from adobe : While older Adobe applications may install and run on Mac OS X Snow Leopard (v10.6), they were designed, tested, and released to the public several years before this new operating system became available. You may therefore experience a variety of installation, stability, and reliability issues for which there is no resolution. Older versions of our creative software will not be updated to support Mac OS X Snow Leopard (v10.6).

  • iphone all day!!! ^_^

  • Yes ! Yes! Yes! Very disappointed right now! See my video on You Tube @ stevensonrf

    Thanks

  • whatd u use to backup ur stuff

  • I've installed Snow Leopard on my MacBook & my 3 intel mac minis. no issues whatsoever on any of my installs

  • you heard wrong I have the Adobe CS3 suite and it works perfectly fine

  • mac have you used the fonts ??? people have been having crashes with fonts, try doing something with about 20 layers and see, people are having trouble with heavy usage of the OS, net light stuff. I went to the mac store and there was issues on a imac when i tried to calibrate the screen.

I was ready to upgrade from my powermac tower, but i will wait to see more results. thanks for the info :)

  • i do fairly heavy use in photoshop I'm making a load of poster for a hairdressers salon at the moment and its been fine so far

  • that is good to hear

  • calibrate the screen?, i've done it fine. They use Macs in the Mac store now lol, I think you mean Apple store, The Mac store sells woman's Cosmetics lol

  • all you had to do was hold the Power button down lol to shut it off

  • Hey guy ... did you repair your disk with the Leopard install disk before you erased and installed? If not .... try it now with the Snow disk. Then go to your hard drive/utilities and repair permissions ...

Download ONYX ..... go to "cleaning" .. do your system and user caches .....

Other than that ... try another erase and install ...

  • I still have a bunch of errors that need a service pack to fix!!!

Who said - "It just works"

    Apple PR BS!

    GRrrrrrrrrrrr

  • dunno about CS3 - but my copy of CS4 runs pretty flawlessly. apple released a list of compatibilities- if memory serves correct CS3 was listed as not useable under 10.6.

  • I guess i've been living under a rock.

  • Don't pull out notebook batteries!!!! Hold the power button down for a few seconds. Expect flaws on a first release, they get cleared up on future updates. No major ones for me so far, except that one handy third party utility is not working, MultiClutch - have to wait for 64 bit update. Also, 64 bit Quicktime X seems to convert MPEG's half the speed of 32 bit MPEG Streamclip software.

  • i personal don't have this problem because i have a new macbook pro so maybe its just old

  • omg my imovie and dvd player crashed wen i took my imac outa the box! like literally 1hr outa the box, playing a dvd, all happy then POP UP, dvd player had to close suddenly?!! my imacs the 2.9ghz, 24", 4gb ram one..tsk tsk totally stumped my bond with macs im afraid

  • luke i think you should try reinstalling snow leopard again or just go back to leopard.

my advice, do not purchase any thing expensive specially like an operating syster windows os X or wat ever immediately wait for people to use it and see it the ratings and comments are good then purchase it

  • i completely agree man, usually with anything, I will wait a good month or two before everyone has figured out all the kinks and then they 10.6.1 version is released. But for SL, I was just really excited ahah.

  • the reason that the gmail thing happened is because gmail is down today, dont know nothing but imovie but Adobe have told us that they know that their cs3 line does not work with snow leopard and are not updating it because they want you upgrade to cs4

  • Snow Leopard runs much better on my macbook 1,1. Haven't problems with any of apple native soft like mail, ilife, iwork...

  • thats why mac = fail hehe =]

  • maybe its a little old though, I am waiting for the bugs to be found(like this) before actually buying it. But like Chris Pirillo said, computers slow down in time because the moving spinning parts in it wear down over time. Maybe its that, but seeing as how your computer is newish(2008-2009) and mine is slightly older(maybe 2007-2008) and mine is still relatively fast but still has some speed issues, this may be a bug in the OS. Let's hope an update remedies the situation

  • Cs3 is not supported. I have a locking issue and it's back to best buy.

  • the battery life on my mbp is awful now. used to be the advertised 7hrs now its down to around 4...no clue whats going on...

  • thanks for the video man.

  • Snow Leopard works great for me. Everything Apple said it is plus a lot more. That sucks you're having problems! Maybe you should try reinstalling it again. /:

  • I noticed my imac 20 inch 3gb of ram has gotten a bit slow i dont know why

  • the only problems that i have had was for a little bit youtube videos that where in hd where not able to load. i fixed that by emptying the cache. the only other problem that i had was with firefox. right after the install wouldn't load up so i had to download firefox again and then it worked

  • if you just hold down the power button it will hard power off without having to pull the battery

Sorry about your problems but I haven't experienced any of those on my iMac so it may just be driver related

  • yeh having the same problem when im using the mail feature, maybe apple will post an update or something...but hopefully things will get fixed.

  • i gave you that idea for the video Luke

  • thanks man, this is a great video idea.

  • no problem what about the other idea i gave you?

  • yeah im getting annoyed too.
