  • Let's face it. There are ONLY 2 types of people who know Bruges exist. People who were born in Bruges. And those who have seen the film 'In Bruges'

  • it's amazing how racist people are toward us belgians...

  • You want to see muslims ? Go to Mecca, you'll feel comfortable. Let's keep Brugge as it always was : Clean

  • bruges is not a shithole..

  • fuck that! keep belgium white

  • Parabéns pelo vídeo e pelos os lugares!!!!! Do Brasil para a Bélgica

  • Fucking Bruges

  • Ok, maybe knocking down the Belfry was a bit much. But this city needs more blacks, hispanis and muslims. We don't feel comfortable visiting this city.

  • @Slammok

Let's be realistic. This is a medieval town that has survived because it became an economic backwater. The same is true of places like Rothenberg in Germany or Venice in Italy. Accept it as it is, please do not change any of these places!!!!!

  • @Stanexpat Agree, but the black population must increase in order for this city to be muclticultual and appear interesting to certain foreigners.

There should be a mandate which requires a certain prcentage of blacks/browns live in the city.

A good start would be around 10%.

  • @Slammok hahaha sure...and requiring a certain "amount of black people" wouldn´t be racist for you I guess...

this is a joke isnt it?

  • @natydelaoma for his sake, i hope so...

  • @Slammok SO they can ruin it, STFU

  • @Slammok Are you serious?

  • @Slammok I went to Brugge and saw interracial couples...lol

  • @Slammok More blacks? More muslims? Are you kidding me? Bruges is part of Flemish culture. No one should change that.

  • "this city needs more blacks, hispanis and muslims. We don't feel comfortable visiting this city."

Yeah well don't visit then. It's one of the nice places that hasn't been tainted by multicultural experiments and lets hope it stays that way. Walk about the most beautiful and historic parts of Amsterdam if you want to see what letting hordes of Moroccans and Muslims does to a place like this. Pist coca anyone? XTC? That's the reality of it. Let's hope Brugge stays the way it is.

  • @deedee54321 I'm muslim. Can i visit Bruges?

  • @Yunghamz No, they dont like other races visiting there city, you will be treated poorly with little consideration for yourself or your family.

  • @Sh1t0nTheVilla Oh so by your reasoning, being a muslim = hostility towards others? I can certainly see where you get this misplaced information from. Yes governments that control some Islamic states can be viewed in a negative view ( Saudi Arabia for example), but to judge a whole muslim population on that piece of information just pictures you as an uneducated person to be honest.

If i was to visit Bruges, the last thing on my mind would be destroying it's cultural heritage.

  • @Sh1t0nTheVilla Oh, i may have misread your post. By they, do you mean the Bruges citizens? If so, why would they not like other races visiting their city? I mean we are both from the only race, human race? I have 10 fingers and toes, two eyes, two ears, hands, legs, heart , brain etc, what's there to treat me different? Because i ( hypothetically) want to visit Bruges, as a tourist which would help the local economy?

  • @Yunghamz dont ask me why :S but iv been to bruge and there were muslims in our hotel and they were always complaining about the bad service, the state of there room when it was cleaned, and how long it took for service in the local restaurants, while we got our service in minutes while they had to wait even when they ordered before us and our room was always spotless, i have no problem with muslims but they do in my time i spent there. 'don't shoot the messenger'! im just saying what i felt

  • @Slammok In fact I tell you what...ban all muslim nappyheads and black cunts from entering the city of Bruges....this way it will remain a clean city rid of all scum.....WONDERFUL!!!!

  • To anyone brave enough to visit our fair lands, don't restrict yourselves to just Brussels or Brugge. There's a lot of hidden gems here like Antwerpen, Gent, Leuven, Durbuy, Namur, Dinant, Hasselt, Ieper, etc. Or for a change of pace visit the Flemish Coast, some really nice beach resorts there like Knokke, De Panne or De Haan,.or maybe explore some of the many picturesque villages all over the country.

There's a lot more to Belgium than jsut Brussels and Brugge.

  • Oh, and stay off the main roads, they'll give off the wrong impression. Belgium is like the crossroads of Western Europe (+heavy traffic) and in order to not spoil the little nature we have left most of our major roads run through former mining regions & industrial parks. Not exactly a feast for the eyes.

And please don't think we all live in those ugly red row houses ;) Most of the Belgians live in modern houses spread out over many suburbs, but you have to leave the beaten path to see those.

  • Can someone recommend me some good music sung in the Dutch language? I have to move to Belgium soon and am trying to learn Dutch.

  • where ar you going to live in belgium??

and 'clouseau' is a dutch artist band. pretty famous over here. but not really the style of the youngsters. more for the parents XD

ive seen you want some translating. just shoot. happy to help

  • @Cannibalzz listen to louis neef -laat ons een bloem it's a very old song but so beautiful

  • @Cannibalzz or samson en gert it's for kids but with these song's it's easy to learn dutch

  • yes look up. "We worden bedreigd by the "vliegende panters"

Very good song and it pretty much sums up the Lowlands today.

  • @Cannibalzz Try Laïs, Eva de Roovere, Zjef Vanuytsel, Clouseau, De Fixkes, Monza, Isabelle A, Kadril, Gorki, Ronny Mosuse, Gene Thomas, Louis Neefs, Phillipe Robrecht or Ann Christy. They all sing in Flemish/Dutch.

  • @Cannibalzz I have a playlist full of Flemish (= Belgian-Dutch) music if you're still interested.

  • What a lovely video - I might take my wife here for Valentines day!

  • I can taste the beer, and smell the waffles !!! Belgium here i come !!!

  • °N1 city of the whole world!!!!!!!

  • bruge is a great place because theres alot of history in bruge. where im from middlesbrough uk, there is apsiluterly noo history what so ever. bruge is a great place. i went for 2 days and the canals. is great which is the video basicaly. Great place to get away for a bit.

  • are the swans still there?

like a fairytale place in bruge...LOL

  • Yes even more

  • no its a shit hole and i dont want to be stuck in brugge, in this room for two weeks with you....... no way.

  • i support the independence of flanders from belgian tyranny. every day the peaceful and freedom-loving flemish people cry out for liberation and look for a saviour to shatter their chains of bondage. free flanders and palestine.

  • Belgium...the Albania of Europe.

  • Ghent is like Bruges without all the tourists

  • yeah that's right.

i love ghent! I lived there 2 years but i moved to Grimbergen and Ghent is soooo much better!

  • ... This is a nice video !... keep out racist comments as it shows that they come from misfits and sad people !

  • If you like northern european high gothic (hoog-gotiek) architecture this is without a doubt the most beautiful city in the world. Very happy to visit it frequently. These great images would have benefit from a nice gregorian chant imho.

  • Hi there, i'll be in Bruges next winter: would like to know if is it possibile to visit the city BY BOAT (depending on weather conditions) in december... Thanx in advance for the answer.

  • Don't know for sure but suspect you can unless the water is frozen making boat travel somewhat difficult.

  • hope so. thank you for your answer, mate.

  • Im positive. Only less frequently boats depart in comparison to the summer and spring. Enjoy your stay.

  • hey everyone! i need some advice. i have to do a couple of things in london and once im finished i want to visit some place else and i thought about paris. but then somebody told about ghent and brugge and now im hesitating and due to time issues i cant go to both.

is this was up to you, which city would you go to? paris or ghent/brugge?

  • I absoltel love ghent and bruges, but I've never been to Paris. I do know some people who have been there and told me that it is too touristy and everything is there to make money.

  • bruges is my favorite city in the world.

  • Why would Belgium do something to allow unwanted people on their land?

Besides, Europeans have no problem in Belgium; A beatiful, developed country.

  • Bruges is an astonishing city.

    Long live the European Union.

    Greetings from italy

  • It is a very, very romantic city and will persuade your loved one to go all the way!

  • then why did u go to belgium in the first place if america is perfect u should hav stayed there

  • Half my family lives in Belgium and half in the USA. The Belgians were supposed to home and help us but they do very little.

The Belgians want us to work hard for very little. At least in the USA we can get the government to pay for things free.

I will take my family out of Belgium unless they start treating all races EQUAL!

There is little fairness in this country if you are not Belgian.

We are NOT leaving so create some programs to integrate us into your culture better.

  • How about u just leave, and take ur family with u as stated...

  • That is RACIST! Accept the fact we too are part of your culture and help a little more.

    That is all we ask.

  • There ARE several programmes to help "foreigners" to integrate and learn how to speak the language(s). All European immigrants seem to find these programmes without any problem, strange that only Americans can't seem to find them... maybe you should try looking and not sitting and waiting for them to be brought to you!

  • Excuse me Brianbe69 but I will move my family to USA because that is where it is best in the world. They are leaders for a reason and they usually do not act like RACISTS!

You guys should make it easier for the blacks and browns.

But you don't, because there is obvious racism.

Also, I am black before I am American or Belgian.

  • Well, then that is what you must do... I always thought we were HUMAN before anything else. It seems like you can't see past the colour of your own skin. A sad thing indeed! We're in 2009, not 1909...

  • OK, I am Nigerian first. I have at least 20 I tried moving to Bruges area but had the visa thing was hard.

I know were not wanted here, I can sense it.

what is Belgium doing to allow more people from foriegn countries like Holland did?

  • @Slammok Hey, I really like black people, but I'm white, you're welcome here in Belgium, maybe there's a lttle bit of racism against muslims, I can understand it, but there's no racism at all against blacks, I really like black people, I've been in SA and they're soo friendly, all of them! Come and join our country, youre welcome!

  • slammok shut the hell up im black and majority of my family is belgian. belgium is way better than america you just dont see it yet and i have to say america is a bit more racist then belgium is

  • This town is too prisitine anyway. I prefer some artisitic graffiti on that Belfy. : )

I mean artisitic, not just spray paint.

  • Then you are a tasteless ass.

  • You ain't black, you are white like the rest of these racists on here.

Brugges should have at least a 2% black population for a city.

You need more diversity and knoock down some of those old buildings for apartments to make it affordable.

  • i am black and im belgian but im not from brugges im from brussels

  • @Slammok, i can't believe the shit that your brain is producing

  • @Slammok, i think at least 2% of the population of Peking should be black and they have to tear down the chinese wall to make stone affordable so they can build houses

  • @Miklo111 lol

  • @Slammok

This is Europe not Africa! We don't want more diversity, we don't want to end up looking like the rest of Africa or crime ridden USA!!

  • Trader226 - you are a racist idiot.

  • Well thank you!

  • In the Uk blacks make out 2% of the population but 20% of the homicide cases. It's a FACT not racisim but a FACT! Look it up.

  • No, Trader is right and you are an ignorant arseclown.

  • I can understand the Belfry and it's history, but some of these older buildings on the canals should be knocked down and replaced for low-income housing.

The old buildings only get older and less water tight.

Diversify the city and spice it up with some international flavor.

  • @Slammok Are you insane? Why should we tear down parts of one of the best preserved medieval towns in the world and replace them with modern buildings? If you want modern go outside of old city center, it's as simple as that. Or visit Antwerp, Brussels, Leuven, there's plenty of cities in Belgium that have modern architecture.

  • @Slammok what a sickening attitude, if anything we need to tear down most of the modern eyesores which ruin most cities. 'diversity' basically means make everywhere souless and exactly the same as everywhere else while destroying existing cultures which hold far more value than the mindless consumerism which is ruining much of europe and the rest of the world.

  • @IAmKingBonzo There´s someone intelligent in youtube! I was almost loosing all hope!

  • Racist! Bruges is a city a which means it should be at least 50% black. The public transportation is horrible.

The city needs some low-income housing at least some where.

    This is racism.

  • No, we don't need no affirmative action.

  • Whatever, but the city needs more diversity. It is boring at night. There should really be much more black peole walking around.

  • Comment removed

  • Do you have a problem with Americans or black people? You sound like a jealour RACIST!

  • @brianbe69 dont say only americans. i am american and i make sure to learn whatever language the country im visiting speaks. all immigrants/tourists should conform to the country they are going to. natives shouldnt have to conform for them. learn the language and acceptable customs and get over it.

  • Thats not racist. I'm just asking u to leave. Besides ur not a part of our culture, especially not in Bruges, keep on dreaming !

  • Asking me to lave is a form of racism. You allowed us in, and now it is your responsibility to make sure we have a bed, eat 3 meals and day and can collect when we do not work oe retire.

  • i think those are your risponsabilities. if you go to a foreign country specially in europe you have to work very hard to succeed.

im not against inmigration, a lot of european countries had to do so back in wwI and wwII. that is a very common thing nowadays. but you cant just say that everthing should be easy for you once you're in europe. thats exactly what the parliament is trying to abolish.

  • If you are not against immingation, then do something to help us get in. Bruges should have an equall amount of blacks for voting rights.

If the population remains under 50% black this would be a form of racism.

Bruges needs more blacks, bottom line.

  • I am not from bruges, Im from london. We are a cosmopolitan city people from all over the world live together here but things weren`t easy for them they had to earn things.

  • leave it like it is,A midevil town like bruges benefits from a white community. It does rigtht to the esthetics.

You want whites in the Bronx?

  • That is a RACIST comment. The bronx has white people, why can't Bruges be mixed too?

The white chicks would love us like always.

  • Its always funny to see blacks in the snow or on slopes for that matter, Blacks in Bruges are just odd. No offense, just how i see it. Jujst as its weird to see white an rap. Has nothing to do with racism though.

  • I always thought Paris was the most beautiful city I had ever been too until I went to Vienna but I think Brugge has both of them beat. That will have to be my next trip to Europe! Beautiful!!!!

  • What's a "beguinage"?

    Begijnhof?

  • its like a monastery for nuns

  • It's fantastic. I've been living in Leuven for 4 months and we make it to Brussels, Bruges, Liege and Antwerp just for fun. There's interesting, fun things to do without getting robbed and shot . It's very civilized. The food is great, the beer is cheap! The weather is much better than back home. What's not to like?!

  • Thank you for your nice comments on my country :). What city did you like most? I'm from Antwerp, but Bruges and Ghent are very nice too.

I'm very sure that lots of people will like Belgium once they get here. You might get very fat because of our chocolate though :).

  • Comment removed

  • I REALLY love the chocolate, but we have been careful to limit our consumption. One must also be disciplined when it comes to passing the bakeries, wafflehouses and fritures. I'm very fond of Antwerp.

I'm educated in diamonds and I'd like to return there one day on business. I liked the bars in Ghent and the food in Bruges. I enjoyed running up the stairs to the Lion monument in Waterloo. If I could do that everyday, I could eat more chocolate!

Leuven is still my favorite city :)

  • hahaha yes, the fritures. Always dangerous. BUT SOOO GOOD. 2 kleintjes, Frikadel special curry ketchup, saté, cito AAAAAAHHH LOVE IT

  • the most boring place you can ever go to.

in no way is it the venice of the north.peaceful because everthing closes at 5pm. now i can see why they have so many kinds of beer, cause there aint shit to do. cool for about 30 min. what ever you do dont go.

  • well, brugges is as advertised... a quaint medieval city... if you want to party go to antwerp, brussels or the coast.

and you should travel more if you think bruges is the most boring place on earth...

  • But the beer is O SOO GOOD. GOT TO LOVE THE BEER MAN. forget about your american catpiss beer. Import this.

  • Just came back from Bruge! So much to see and appreciate! I was based in Paris and took a one day excursion. I loved it. I wish I could have brought more things back. Especially the chocolate! Gil/Los Angeles, California

  • You're always welcome to come back! And don't forget to visit Antwerp and Ghent as well. If you liked Bruges, you will like these cities as well.

And I agree that our chocolate is better than your McDonald's :p

  • peaceful place, love it:)

  • LOVE it! I would love to live there ^^

    I wish I wish I wish ^^

  • I came home last saturday from here. Its really good. Anyone who is thinking of going here - GO. Its brill.

  • @will

On streets i found a theatrical invitationto museum, unique.museums:Bladelin Court, Basilica of the Holy Blood, choco-Story, english Convent, lace centre &Jerusalem Church, st. Georges Archers Guild, Observatory Beisbroek. what more? many public gardens to relax in & many other places. Belgium has a unique way to make u feel u belong there and makes u relax like no other place in Europe.:)

  • Aha. Are you a prophet? What do you know about the future?

  • great at least there will never be a Mcdonalds on every corner there

  • War and destruction is the future of Islam

  • Bruge is the most beautiful place I've ever visited - it's chocolate box perfect - and conveniently, specialises in the stuff. Hurrah!

  • I like Belgium, i adore Bruges!!!!

  • brugge/bruges is great, but i prefer gent/ghent. it's like bruges without all tourists.

  • Inderdaad ;D Ik studeer in Gent, prachtige stad.

  • Does the xylophone player ride with you on the boat ride?

  • Nice video. Thank you.

  • the last time I was in Belgium I was 8 months old, I think it's nearly time to go back.
