I agree when it comes to Deticated to Chaos, they forgot about Hear in the now Frontier. They are wrong about Promised Land. It was a completely original album and they were very creative on it. These guys don't even play music obviously.
You guys went way too easy on this album. You mean to tell me you listened to the hour and 10 minutes of music on that album and all you can say is that it was weak? lol...that's torture man! I listened to about half of the album just for the sake of seeing how bad it is and I couldn't finish it. American Soldier was terrible too, it was an hour of jingoism and "hoorah support teh troops" type of stuff. Keep that stuff on your Toby Keith albums, it doesn't belong in metal, imo.
@MetalHeart8787 When did I ever say metal should be peace songs? Peace songs are usually just as bad, I think metal should be apolitical. Also, really dude, Osama is dead, the iraq war is drawing to a close, you can stop with the "America fuck yeah!" type of stuff. It's not 2004 anymore. I'd rather be a pussy than some republican neanderthal who would rather wave a flag and and shout slogans than educate themselves about the complexity of foreign policy.
@MetalHeart8787 I said metal should be apolitical, do you not know what that word means? I'm not worried about terrorists killing my family since you're far more likely to die of a lightning strike. And no, foreign policy is not that simple. It's not just "be good to us and we won't bomb you." There are massive economic interests and cultural conflicts that have created the situation in the middle east. The war on terror isn't the heroic struggle against the forces of evil that you'd like it to be.
@MetalHeart8787 you're really missing my point completely. How am I a pussy? Are you sending me this message from some base in Afghanistan? It doesn't take balls to support a war, it takes balls to fight a war. Do you honestly think the war in the middle east is cause of apple pie and freedom? Fuck no, how naive can you be? No economic interest? Really? There isn't OIL in the middle east? One of the most valuable commodities on the planet? American Soldier still sucks btw.
@MetalHeart8787 So the answer is no, you're not over there getting your ass shot. And you sit back and call me a pussy? You're a chicken hawk. And you're still missing my point. My point was that the wars in the middle east are more complex than just "Hoorah kill dem terrorists." You obviously are intellectually incapable of understanding that. So wave your flag and put your ribbon magnet on your car, but think for 5 seconds and read a fucking book before you go insulting people.
Rage for Order Kills!!.... everyone knows that, who gives a shit what they looked like!
focus on the music bro!... you've set up a mental block that keeps you from processing the music correctly when focus on stupid shit....listen to your partner!! 4o\m/
"Redeemed themselves" with Operation Mindcrime following Rage for Order?? Redeemed themselves from one of the greatest metal albums ever? Are you kidding me? Every Queensryche fan I know considers Rage a masterpiece along with Mindcrime. Different sounds, but both are classics. In fact, I think I know more fans (and these are guys and gals who go back to the 80s with me) that would choose Rage over Mindcrime. You seriously damage your credentials as reviewers of metal records with that statement
@booeyc yeah Rage was a great album. Operation Mindcrime is where i lost interest in the band. Suite Sister Mary was great, and there were a few other highpoints, but otherwise it (musically, lets forget about the lyrics/concept here, since that can't carry an album) was stripped down, simplified, and weakened (more rock than metal).
Listening to this album was painful.....so bad.....Mostly like U2 with bad vocals, sorry Geoff you can't sing anymore. The last 3-4 songs at least sorta sound like Vintage Reich, just filler though....time to hang it up- Sorry just being honest. Dedicated to ...CRAP
hehehe..thank goodness i don't buy music...i managed to enjoy more or less 20 years enjoying only one CD..FINYLVYNYL..Rainbow..featuring the LATE GREAT RONNIE JAMES DIO....never ever had to buy any other album..i was..content ;)
Great review but of a bad album.I've seen QR twice in the begining and they blew my freaking mind but pretty much after about the third album they just lost me-especially after hearing Silent Lucidity.Everytime a metal band makes a ballad and get big and gain a larger following they lose something and become music whores(Sellouttica)with the exception of a few.QR are almost in the easy listening dept.at the music store & probably will wind up in the childrens section by the next album-just sad.
Great video and review guyz! I have to agree with you, although as a 25+ year Queensryche fan... the pure awfulness of Dedicated to Chaos actually makes me angry! I understand they are a progressive metal band, which is what I truly enjoy about them... always pushing the envelope and trying to progress metal to the next level. Yet... the Ryche forgot one key word in the title "Progressive Metal"... METAL! Great review gentlemen!
@gotama420 WOW!!! YEAH! that sounds about RIGHT! Ahhh the mems! I'm pretty much a south Seattle dude 50 years young and livin' in Bonney Lake now. I used to love those kinda gigs. Maybe ya rmbr a band called SATO (named after the Ozzy/Randy tune) that had a pre-Alice Mike Starr in it? Hey!, if ya get bored, check out my half-ass music tributes. Here's the one for Mike (RIP buddy).

Howdy guys, I rmbr. seein' Geoff Tate pre-QR days in a lil' band called "Myth" The band was nuthin' special and it was at a hall-party type of thing, but I rmbr walkin' around with a Jack n' Coke pretty much ignorin' the band but then..... Geoff let out one of those "Queen Of The Rhyche" screams and everyone was like... "Whoahhhh this fuc*er's gonna make it BIG!" And sure enuff, the rest's history. QR formed shortly after that gig and EVERYONE here in Seattle had that EP.
Pretty cool guys, thanks! I am going to see Queensrÿche in Boston in a couple of weeks and I am really looking forward to it! I appreciate the information on all of their albums because I am only familiar with Mindcrime and Empire. Keep on rocking fellas!
Cool review. I haven't listened to the new Queensryche album but I saw them last night with Judas Priest and they were pretty good. I think they may have played new some songs from the album but the crowd only seemed to be there to hear the old stuff. Queensryche were great at the beginning of their career but they also lost me...just after Promised Land. It was nice to see them live again though.

I did like the review on Ozzys Book BUT the review for the Queensryche CD was lame. Not much of a review.
I agree alot of older bands have put out lame cds, Like Judas priest Nostrodamus, how can anyone think its great?
Iron Maiden did the same thing. these Bands were in their prime in the 80's
damn! i thought that Bands only & would just get Better. i was Wrong.
its better than Not releasing anything i guess.

@Wes919 I agree that is why I gave it a 3/10, I would agree that this album was the worst. American soldier was torture as well.

@Wes919 well American soldier wasn't aGreat CD
whats wrong with supporting the troops? you Want EVERY Metal band to be peace protesting Hippies?!
Get REAL many Metal bands are proud they are American.
anti war Songs haven't ever changed anything either. its post9/11 events & whats happening.
so you want Only country singers to support the Fight against Terrorism?
you are a Pussy, IMO.

@Wes919 ok so you don't want songs pro war OR about peace. But they should be political?
its not 2004? what the FUCK does that have to do with anything!? LOL
im NOT a republican. "complexity of Foreign policy" LOL WOW you need some schooling kid.
someone Kills your family what would you DO!?
its pretty fuckin Simple be good to us & well be good to you we have many countries that are our Allies
it doesn't matter what Britsh/Aussie civilians say because they have no say, their Government does

@Wes919 i didn't say "terrorists" i just said killed, a common Killing.
economic interest? LOL uh NO! we spend Million on war & do Not did Not get anything thing from it.
ww1 & ww2 we were dragged into (NOT our Fault)
Gulf war 1991 kuwait asked the UN for Help in 1990.
we have had potential enemies & we didn't "bomb them"
if Killing innocent people with Bombs in crowds & Mosques isn't Evil then
you are BLIND. if our country was run by Pussies like you then it would be the end of US.

@Wes919 it takes common sense to support something.
Apple pie? NO. you think theres freedom in Afghanistan with Qlaeda in conntrol?
Fuck NO. how Naive can you be? oil isn't gonna make up for how much we spend there!
Besides we get our oil from Saudi Arabia! NOT afghanistan or Iraq.
the new Maiden cd also sucks, cds suck because of lack of good songs OR
lame music, NOT because of what songs are about. disposable heros, lyrics i don't agree with But still an awsome song.

@Wes919 you missed my point.
War is for a reason & its NOT oil & Money.
so go & listen to john lennons Imagine, it won't change the world.
what Book? WTF does that have to do with this?! ive studied many aspects of War & other Nations.
I have 23 different flags of other countries & study 7 Languages so don't try to sound smart by telling me
what you think of war & people who support it. you are Brainwashed into thinking everyone who supports the war is a Redneck. Wake up Idiot!
