The point of all of this was at the end of the day its all about integrity and respect. Petrino showed NONE of this when he left Atlanta with three games left in his only season there. He should have played it out THEN join Arkansas to save some face at least but it was too apparent that Petrino is in this for himself and no one else. He left an entire team of NFL players busting their asses off to make something of their careers all because 13 games into one season he thought it was too much.

He's done an outstanding job with Arkansas' football program. He got us in a bowl game last year, he got us in the Sugar Bowl this year. He's gotten us players from Hoover Alabama. He's 24 months into this contract and hasn't shown any signs of wanting out. If I were a professional in some field and I wasn't satisfied with where I was working I'd move too. I'd move somewhere where I could feel at home and be happy with my job. I'm only human, not a coach though, right?

What you probably don't realize is that McFadden was a 3 star recruit who didn't get recognition until his junior year. So if you want to get technical Joe Adams and Jarius Wright have already out-performed Mcfadden's performance as a freshmen. Also, this is Petrino's first year, and he still had a top 25 recruiting class. (even though he only had half the normal time to recruit) This year we have the #14 recuiting class. So frankly I'm not sure what you're talking about.
And Nutt was known for being a mediocre recruiter. He got Darren McFadden who was an in-state recruit who always wanted to be a Razorback. Nutt is also a PITIFUL coach. He has the NCAA's least creative style of play. He runs the ball, and that's it. He didn't even come up with the "Wild Hog" idea! Petrino is recruiting players to run a balanced offense. Look at our recruiting class buddy before you open your mouth.
Maybe you should do some research. McFadden was a 5 star recruit on rivals and a 4 star on scout. Nutt already has already defeated a higher ranked team in his one year at ole miss than petrino has ever defeated. Also, your recruiting class doesn't include a good QB (you have an average one) which is the one position you need the most. Petrino is a "QB Coach" and he can't even get a good QB. And the least creative play caller won you the second most games of any coach in your programs

The Atlanta Falcons were a sinking ship. Petrino had no choice, but to leave in the middle of the season so he could start the recruiting process on the college level. The hogs will suck this year, but as their young players mature and Bobby picks up new players, they will be major contenders.

However, Petrino was a complete ass for leaving the Falcons at the time because they were 3-10 and there were only 3 games left into the season. The point of all of this was at the end of the day its all about integrity and respect. Petrino showed NONE of this when he left Atlanta with three games left in his only season there. He should have played it out THEN join Arkansas to save some face at least but it was too apparent that Petrino is in this for himself and no one else. He left an entire team of NFL players busting their asses off to make something of their careers all because 13 games into one season he thought it was too much.

He's done an outstanding job with Arkansas' football program. He got us in a bowl game last year, he got us in the Sugar Bowl this year. He's gotten us players from Hoover Alabama. He's 24 months into this contract and hasn't shown any signs of wanting out. If I were a professional in some field and I wasn't satisfied with where I was working I'd move too. I'd move somewhere where I could feel at home and be happy with my job. I'm only human, not a coach though, right?

I agree I think Petrino's move was wrong, but people don't know that when he first joined the teamed he had constant problems with players who constantly disrespected him. Deangelo Hall and someone else. Also Vick QB was banned in nfl for his actions, and Petrino was left with players who refused to follow his direction. Petrino should have at least finished out the season with Atlanta then depart from the team. So total blame on him is not entirely correct.

MIKE & MIKE...An un-athletic douche and a fat piece of shit. As a hog fan, I could care less whether he stays 5 years. He's already recruited high quality players, and will continue doing so until he decides to leave. He's doing a much better job than Houston Nutt would have done.

nutt got you darren mcfadden. petrino hasn't brought in anybody like that. Nutt is a better coach and recruiter. I get why he had to go, but you should have found a better coach and person to replace him

What you probably don't realize is that McFadden was a 3 star recruit who didn't get recognition until his junior year. So if you want to get technical Joe Adams and Jarius Wright have already out-performed Mcfadden's performance as a freshmen. Also, this is Petrino's first year, and he still had a top 25 recruiting class. (even though he only had half the normal time to recruit) This year we have the #14 recuiting class. So frankly I'm not sure what you're talking about.

And Nutt was known for being a mediocre recruiter. He got Darren McFadden who was an in-state recruit who always wanted to be a Razorback. Nutt is also a PITIFUL coach. He has the NCAA's least creative style of play. He runs the ball, and that's it. He didn't even come up with the "Wild Hog" idea! Petrino is recruiting players to run a balanced offense. Look at our recruiting class buddy before you open your mouth.

Maybe you should do some research. McFadden was a 5 star recruit on rivals and a 4 star on scout. Nutt already has already defeated a higher ranked team in his one year at ole miss than petrino has ever defeated. Also, your recruiting class doesn't include a good QB (you have an average one) which is the one position you need the most. Petrino is a "QB Coach" and he can't even get a good QB. And the least creative play caller won you the second most games of any coach in your programs

You guys need to face the fact that you arent one of the USCs, Notre Dames, Alabamas, Oklahomas, Penn States or Nebraskas of college football. You dont have an amazing tradition. A very good one, but you wont be great year in and year out. Nutt gave you the most success youve had in modern college football. You should have stuck with him.

The Atlanta Falcons were a sinking ship. Petrino had no choice, but to leave in the middle of the season so he could start the recruiting process on the college level. The hogs will suck this year, but as their young players mature and Bobby picks up new players, they will be major contenders.

Oh are they now? Petrino and his coaching staff sunk their own ship. The players jumped off way before Petrino left. Look where the Falcons are now, a 3-2 record(more than what anybody thought) and Mike Smith(a real coach with a real coaching staff) leading the way. Th players have jumped back on the ship and he is leading the way.

This is pathetic. mostly everyone who bashed Petrino had a connection to the NFL. None of the College Football Analysts bashed him. And i tell you right now that recruits dont give a flying fuck about his ''integrity'' all they care about is if he can get them to the NFL which is something that he can do.. it's proven.. his QB, RB, and WRs are all in the NFL right now. To hell with Atlanta they got what they deserved they're the most pathetic franchise besides Detroit and Cincinatti

I don't think there's any question that Petrino will do well in Arkansas. He's a great college coach, but his ethics are seriously messed up. Louisville gave that guy EVERYTHING he could ask for. When Rick Pitino is your basketball counterpoint and you are STILL getting your ass kissed by the fans and A.D., it's a joke to leave that. He built UofL into a powerhouse and now we are a joke with Kragthorpe. I work in the media and Petrino was a nice guy to interact with, but he can't be trusted.

Everything Marcellus and Mike said is true. I know that Falcons at that time said that they wanted Petrino fired. However, Petrino was a complete ass for leaving the Falcons at the time because they were 3-10 and there were only 3 games left into the season. The team knew they didn't make the playoffs, but there goes Petrino, and he just abandoned the whole franchise. I wonder how people can trust this guy anymore. Hopefully Mike Smith will at least keep the Falcons on the right track.
