  • My mate at Ripon College bookrd these in 1971 just weeks before they got bto no.1 and were paid peanuts compared to what they then took for bookings. Well done Mike for that one

  • @MasterofSparks You might want to check your knowledge of music history too. Jimi Hendrix called Dick Dale -- a white surfer boy -- his mentor and the greatest guitar player of his generation. Talent doesn't know any color. If color is all that matters to you then you missed the point a long time ago.

  • The merits of Atomic Rooster seem to have got lost in political maelstrom. Where's David Icke when you need him ?

  • WAS SORRY TO SEE THAT JOHN DU CANN HAD RECENTLY PASSED AWAY(NEVER COULD UNDERSTAND WHY THYE BAND SPLIT UP AT THE PEAK OF THEIR SUCCESS) WE STILL HAVE THE MEMORIES AND THE MUSIC FROM THAT GOLDEN ERA OF ROCK MUSIC. ESPECIALLY THE BRILLIANT ALBUM "DEATH WALKS BEHIND YOU"

  • r.i.p john du cann and thanks for making such great music

  • John Du Cann (1950 - September 21st 2011) - R.I.P.

  • Take your political bullshit fail elsewhere pl0x

  • Vince Crane and John DuCann are GODS!

  • @karlmoles65 John DuCann is indeed one of the all-time greats!!!

  • @Evoken13 Very heard his other bands Andromeda or Hard Stuff?

  • @karlmoles65 BRO!!!!! Andromeda is seriously, one of my BIGGEST influences. One of the best bands ever in my humble opinion. Hard Stuff was great too.

  • @Evoken13 Awesome! Let me congratulate you on having excellent taste in music!

  • Hard Stuff were awesome! They were the band I 'discovered' that none of my mates had heard of when I was a scruffy, long-haired oik of a schoolboy in the 70's. I've still got the Bulletproof album somewhere..........I think I may just have to play it!!

  • @Greebo666 You should, No Witch At All is one of my all time favorite songs. I was a scruffy long haired Metalhead in the 8os myself. In the 70s I was just a kid.

  • @karlmoles65 The whole album is on youtube!!!!!!!!! 'Taken Alive' OMG, I'd forgotten about that one! Bouncing around my bedroom, tennis racket in hand, hair everywhere LOL!

  • This song grooves

  • Can we get back to the music here, plenty of places to post political stuff elswhere. Thanks for the upload brilliant song and time for me,I was 15

  • Best rock sound !

  • good tune!

  • why do people argue so much about music? It is so varied and personal, who gives a shit if anyone likes a song or if they don't like it? Really who cares. These guys rock!

  • Stop talking shit and play this great song from a great group!

  • I'm glad I don't listen to music!

  • high am mr egg,fry mi

  • they say rock will never die, but where is the guys like those? today nothing is (or will be) so good like that, like janis, sabbath, zeppelin, floyd...

in that time those guys play their music because they love to do that, but now we only saw pre-made bands from the phonography industry, created only to make money.

  • I'm a 45 year old Mod and I absolutely love this! I'm off for therapy tomorrow! I'm a 45 year old Mod and I absolutely love this! I'm off for therapy tomorrow!

  • Great looking back. Rock was rock. You knew who came from what band and where they went. Awesome unrecognized band. Thanks for posting.

  • Fabulous stuff, thank you so much

  • FAbulou, thank you so much

  • when I listen that song,I´m more than 30 years younger

  • The first Album dropped like rock into our community those days, we got shocked with great appreciation. They had the sound of their time, but still something extra was felt in every song.Thank you, Zenith !

  • S U C K S !!!

  • @wagsouza go listen to your rebecca black you little girl.

  • @00hasista00 I HATE REBECA BLACK YOU SHIT LITTLE GIRL !

    F U C K !!!

  • @wagsouza well then go listen to your bieber. you say this sucks? you have some serious mental problems.

  • @00hasista00 YOU HAVE A SICK MIND !

    I HATE BIEBER SUCKER !!!

  • @wagsouza well then u must respect real music made with real talent.

  • @00hasista00 This is my OPINION.

  • Quality sa nomore

  • I was about 17 when this came out. I loved this band. I was considered out on the edge of music taste, by my friends. They only listened to Zep and the Beatles and the Who, which are great bands but, I like something different. I still dig it. Listen to them all the time.

  • boring

  • @buchananstreet FUCK YOU !!!

  • @TheKnaK007 , STILL boring

  • good ole days, hehe

  • Power, Zest, Passion, Emotion, Memories. Life itself, This record means everything to me. I can't thank Atomic Rooster enough. There are many great records from that era but, Devils Answer for me, always has been, and always will be No 1 in my chart.

    It's loud, it's quiet, it's hard, it's soft,

It takes me from the deepest cellar up to the highest loft.

    Northernraider. I agree 100%

  • yes! new stuff is good too but this brings back carefree days of S, D, R&R!

  • yes! news stuff is good too but this brings back carefree days of S, D, R&R!

  • @Smokylass Yes..........Yes it does.........!

  • Sippins!

  • Its 1972 all over again!!

  • love this its a turning point for glam rock and hippies wow..

  • Those were the greatest days of my life.

  • you got that bang on northernraider,my thought's entirely......rock on man.

  • his sticks upside down?

  • who's on vocal?

  • @DeanMeredithMusic

on this version its John Du Cann (the guitarist in this video) but then Peter French (vocalist on their 3rd album) overdubbed his voice and his version was released as a single.

  • I had to smile when I read the comment from northernraider. That's the type of thing that my dad would say.... back in 1969 lamenting about the state of the youth on tv! "back then we had men and women!" 1970s was the era of glam rock and cross dressing Brian Eno, David Bowie, Alice Cooper, Sweet....etc

  • @overner2001 I was a kid back then and I was thinking the same thing reading raider's post.

  • Comment removed

  • Dont know why but i used to get this mixed up with Back Street Luv, by Curved Air which was around the same time when i was a kid.Maybe mixed up is the wrong phrase but they were a similar type rock track

  • Great stuff!

  • Used to pour money into the jukebox at the airport bowl just to hear this - brilliant!

  • We'd skip college and go spend the afternoon downing pints at O'Conner's Tavern, Liverpool......this song was on the juke box.......:)

  • @smegcolin Yeah-- Brillo music on that jukebox in the early 70s.. Cold bottles of Newcastle Brown Ale.. Yummy !! Harry M where are you???

  • @johnjackmo Hahaha......certainly was the 'in place' to be back in those days...!

Was Harry M the guy who owned O.C's.....I can't remember......LOL!!!!

  • @smegcolin . No -- Harry was a regular in O'Cs - we lost touch a few years ago (sad) Never did know who really owned the place. Maybe it was the short, roundy, baldy, fat guy who used to prop up the bar. He never spoke much just took yer money or said " You've ' ad enough / You're barred !!! Happy Days...

  • @johnjackmo

    Yeah....that was him.Rolled-up shirt sleeves....always wore braces.....LOL!!!!

He was the owner! He threw me out a time or two.....LOL!!!!!

Remember 'Big Paddy'....? He was the bouncer on the door at the Cavern.

    Happy days indeed.........:)

  • @smegcolin Yeah - I remember Paddy - he wasn't too bad.. His favourite line was "Not yet lad--go 'round de corner and get a bag of chips. The REAL Cavern (Or Cave) was great in those days.. :)

  • @johnjackmo

Big Paddy never took shit from ANYONE......very fair guy though! Wouldn't beat your brains out for no good reason....LOL!!!!!!

You must remember the 'house band' then......Strife?

  • @smegcolin Maybe in the distant mists of memory... the name sounds familiar but I have trouble remembering what happened last week never mind nearly 40 years ago !!!!! LOL.....

  • @johnjackmo

    Hahaha......you're suffering from CRS......Can't Remember Shit.......LOL!!!!!!!

Anyway, thanks for the stroll down Memory Lane........:)

  • that´s great, I lovely atomic rooster since 1971

  • Too bad Crane F-cked up when he chose to sack Cann!!! WTF???

  • I wish John Du Cann would've stuck around with Andromeda and realeased more material instead of joining Atomic Rooster.

  • Fantastic clip, great, very underrated rock band. Brings back good memories of the early 70s.

  • Didn't we just. I had hair down my back then......Still do, but none on my head now. I was a hippy by day, and a biker by night. Drugs going into every orifice.....ahhhhhhhh.

  • @daveaw69 dont i know you? atb paul

  • Love this band but don't bash 80s and 90s music.

I also love Duran Duran and NWA.

Music should inspire and open the mind, not close it.

You sound like someone from the 50s complaining about "long hair" and "noise music"

  • Saw them in 71 warming up for Ten Years After ,Mylon le Fevre started the show all for get this 6.50 ! Pete French was the vocalist on that tour ,thought he was great .think he became Cactus 's lead singer

  • love this song......

  • kewl tune! :o)

  • bril,thanks!

  • wat shite

  • @pierrelivernois diiiiiiiiccckkkkkk!!!!

  • @pierrelivernois bloody french

  • A great band from the 70s.

Give CONSORTIUM a listen as well, another great band from that era .

The albums "REBIRTH" and "13th HOUR".....

  • @travellingirl1 Thanks. I listen to a LOT of music from the early 70's and haven't heard Consortium. I'll have to check them out. I never get tired of finding new to me old bands. Keep on rockin'!

  • AWESOME

  • ive still got the album "death walks behind you 1969

  • northernraider you've lived a very sheltered life

  • great song! go back 16 years ago!

  • Cool!

  • Holy F@@k!!

    This is really G R O O V Y!!

  • Lovely stuff.

  • must grow my hiar again . back to the 70s Sun shine cheap petrol.

  • Great days, back then we had men and women not men women, undecided, recent changed, etc, Life was fun as the sixties and sevennties saw off the drab austerity days. oh and bands played guitars and drums , had talent and knew how to entertain. and they did it without refering to killing, ho's, guns' gangs and other ethnic crap.

  • @northernraider

I don't know what planet you're living on, or were living on back then, but they had gay people and cross dressers in the 70's - or have you forgotten the androgynous look of bands and singers like Marc Bolan, early David Bowie, etc?

And as to the "ethnic crap" you're referring to, well, you're just being ignorant there - the music of bands like Atomic Rooster had a strong blues element, derived from Black American music - or is that not "ethnic"?

  • @Curio08 I think he's talking about people who are babbling about their sexuality all the time and niggers (using the world in a gangster rapper subcultural sense) talking about violence and drugs all the time (I have no problem with the latter personally)

  • @northernraider amen to that my friend though I'm just 26 years old , yet I have a thinking tool which tells me that the 50s , 60s and 70s are THE ages of music and nothing after will even be in the same league ... I mean just look at the way people dressed in the 60s (Epic) vs. the way they dressed in the 80s (lame) ..

  • @Zepplica911 Do not despair, folks. There is a future. There will soon be a new peak.. get ready!! Just use your imagination, or do as they did "back then", get chemichal help with your imagination. ;-) Until then, take care!

  • @northernraider, hey! you said all I wanted say. Thanks.

  • @northernraider What does your transphobia have to do with enjoying great music? It's coming out of left field there, I'm curious as to why you would bring gender identity into it.

  • @northernraider Bands could and HAD TO play live week in week out all over the country couple of quid if that to get in and see so much talent on stage could afford the price of a pint of beer.

  • @northernraider Well said.

  • Gotta love the blatant and not-so blatant racism and sexism in northernraider's comment.

  • @northernraider this is a great progressive band! its a shame that an illiterate white trash artifact like yourself has to come and try to ruin it with your racist comments. Don't you know that if it wasn't for "ethnic crap" music this band and this whole genre wouldnt exist?! please please go and educate yourself before you reproduce.

  • @northernraideran everyone smelt of patchouli, sunsilk or BO everything came in brown or orange apart from arctic roll and you could save your milkman's lad money for six months and still not be able to afford a denim jacket and when your best mate told you he was gay you heard happy and thought no more about it and the women that you shouted cheeky things to in the street took it in good part and didn't feel threatened or degraded cos she was going to get that from her old man when she got home

  • @northernraider Be quiet and enjoy the music, you ignorant cretin. Can you hear the guitar? That's 'ethnic', not that I would expect a fucking dimwit like you to know that. Actually, everyone is ethnic, including you (assuming you're homo sapiens, that is).

  • @northernraider Apparently you never listened to the Rolling Stones. I hate this garbage they call music these days as much as you do. But otherwise, dude, your comments are stupid right wing bullsh*t. Rock (and Roll) from the '50's to the '70's was based on black musicians like Muddy Waters, Freddy King, and etc. Stevie Ray stole about 1/3 of his act from Albert King and another 3rd from Jimi Hendrix who borrowed heavily from Buddy Guy and Muddy Waters. Conservatives are ignorant & VILE scum.

  • @MasterOfSparks Please let's not tar all conservatives with the same brush eh? That would be generalising and stereotyping, and we all know that's forbidden.

  • @edj66 The ONLY people left in the conservative side of the isle are those who live for the sole purpose of exploiting those too damned stupid to know they're being used (that's about 5%) and those who are too stupid to know they are being used (95%). Conservatives will tell you that they have higer morals than liberals. In fact they have NO morals at all. NONE. They don't even know what morals are. They think morals come from God. That means they have confused religious doctrination for morals.

  • @MasterOfSparks I assume you must be left wing then. Typically unable to accept that there are those who disagree with them, and brand all such people as mad or evil. Wonderfully tolerant of you.

  • @edj66 I'm not interested in your ignorant remarks about "tolerance" edj. What concerns me is that you supported the murder of at least 100,000 innocent Iraqis and it never even phased you that the excuse for it changed on a weekly basis. What could be more evil than that? You, like all conservatives, are an idiot. And the reason you disagree with me is because conservative brains simply do not function. If they did you would be able to reason your way beyond conservatism. Reality trumps belief.

  • @MasterOfSparks Haha fuck off. You really are a cock. You assume I supported the war in Iraq (I very much didn't) and that I am a conservative party supporter (I'm not) simply because I disagree with you? And you assume the only reason I disagree with you is simply because my brain 'doesn't function'? Again, what a load of bollocks. Learn not to make stupid assumptions and you wont come across as an intolerant cunt.

  • @edj66 Sorry dude. You're all out of options. There are only 2 kinds of people in the world. Liberals and idiots. And half the liberals are morons but at least they picked the right side. But its better to pick the right horse for the wrong reasons than to pick the wrong horse for any reason. Anyway there's a Psychology Today article from a few years back that shows only liberal brains generate the proper amount of electrical activity. Thats scientific fact documented via EEG testing. Look it up

  • @MasterOfSparks You make liberals look worst than they already do. Nobody can look this article up, for it doesn't exist, you are scum for getting political on music video, I just couldn't help but ridicule you.

  • @Okkvltist That article very much exists. Its @ [psychologytodayDOTcom/articles/200612/the-ideological-animal] and there's another @ [psychologytodayDOTcom/blog/the-human-beast/201104/conservatives-big-fear-brain-study-finds] that says "Liberals had more gray matter at least in the anterior cingulate cortex, a region of the brain that helps people cope with complexity." That explains why you weren't able to find the first article. Its a proven scientific fact that conservatives are idiots.

  • @MasterOfSparks ok you know best ?

  • @MasterOfSparks

Listen mate, I'm the Stones biggest fan but I was 15 when this was out and it was cool then and

most girls in my class loved it, so it was OK with me . Stop being so heavy and get a life haha !

  • @MasterOfSparks Conservatives are ignorant and vile, but i'll take a conservative over a nanny stating progressive shit bag. Liberty gor all my friends. Free minds & free markets.

  • @metzger90 Metz the only thing the conservative movement does for you is make you feel proud that you're an idiot. And the only reason it does that is because you're an idiot. I'd explain further but what's the use? You're an idiot!

  • @MasterOfSparks You think the music of today sucks? There's good music out there today, trust me. Go listen to some songs by the bands "Black Bonzo", "Areknamés" and "Assemble Head in Sunburst Sound" for example, I think you might like that stuff, I know I do :D

  • @JosefK93 Assemble Head in Sunburst Sound is really good. The musicianship among the others sounded professional but lacked the magic (spark of genius) of groups like Led Zep, Hendrix, or even Black Sabbath. I grew up at a very special time when rock was still young and all the boundries were expanding by the week. And the population was very young so there were a lot of people competing for attention. The music industry was run from the A&R side not the bean counters who run it today.

  • @MasterOfSparks Yeah I can see where ur coming from, the artists you mention are some of the greatest ones of all time for me as well. I just find it irritating that there are so many new artists out there today that I love that don't get much attention at all. In my opinion, Black Bonzo's album "Sound of the Apocalypse" is on the same level as for example Led Zeppelin's "Houses of the Holy", one of my all time favorite albums. I hope my generation can bring more music like this...

  • @MasterOfSparks Uh huh. What does skin colour have to do with it? Music has been borrowed and reinvented through the ages. Get over it!

  • @RaguelAngelofBalance I was responding to a racist douche bag. Why does it bother you to give blacks credit for their contributions to the arts?

  • @MasterOfSparks Because if I said, "But whites perfected the genre", you'd call me "racist". Hahaha! I know your type well.

  • @RaguelAngelofBalance No I'd just say that your knowledge of music history is very much lacking. Hendrix perfected guitar playing. Michael Jackson is the King of Pop. And Elvis pales when compared to Chuck Berry. No pun intended. And when you say you "know (my) type" you're just projecting your own ignorance.

  • @MasterOfSparks You are not only delusional, but an annoying dick! XD

  • @RaguelAngelofBalance Yeah but I'm in your mouth so what does that make you?

  • @MasterOfSparks That makes me MasterOfSparks!

  • @northernraider And I guess you'll want to join the other conservative idiots in burning your Beatles records. Their early sound was mostly Motown & Chuck Berry.

  • @northernraider You are so so soooo right about that!!!! I remember when the music brought people together - not tore them apart

  • @northernraider you're a fucking idiot. great song though.

  • @northernraider ah yes, who could forget those carefree days of the manson murders, the christmas day bombings, kent state, etc.

  • Some chords like LIttle Willy of Sweet.

  • My favorite Atomic Rooster song!! AWESOME!!

  • I prefer the longer version but can't find it

  • The 80s version that sounds like from a live concert? There is on YT.

  • Ein absolut geiler Song.Erinnerungen an meine Jugend werden wach.... Beste Grüße aus Deutschland.

  • I don't remember the 70's being that great. Power Cuts, industrial strife, no money, footy Riots, petrol rationing, glam rock, 3 Channels on TV and nothing to do....shall I go on. Some of the music was good.

  • Hey Butch! You don't have sense of humour. It's just that that made the seventies worth living. Not quite the numbness and canned living we find out today. Oh, and there was also the music...great music actually starting in the end of sixties. You can find really revolutionary people working on it, imho.

  • You didn't need more than tree channels back then; everyone had sex with real people for longer than three minutes and the ozone layer was strong so they could go outside and do it.

  • Hey, I didn't watch the tree channel back then lol. It was illegal to have sex outside in the 1970's so stop trying to make the kids think people could do that and get away with it lol.

  • She's right kids; we didn't have sex outside we had it in nice comfortable cars. Cars were big, roomy, and metal so it was very easy. Now they have something called a smart car which would be very difficult to do it in but funny to watch.

  • Hey, but now you can put an itty bitty camera in the smart car to take pictures.

  • Your a sick girl Charlie Brown.

  • Vincent Crane & CO. were GREAT

  • OH GROOVEY!

If yoo doods like this yer gonna luv

    GREEN HEAD MAN.

  • Crane was(RIP) crazy!

  • sooooo gooood. This music is super inspiring.

  • this is great. Can't believe I never heard before. interesting groove and blend in between Free, Deep Purple and ELP. Wonderful ... gonna seek out the vinyl

  • Cool song!!I love these old stuff from these guys. They were a good band that not a lot of people know about anymore!!It's awesome tom revisit the past through video!!

  • lookin at this clip makes you realise what a great time it was in the 70s listening to these awsome songs takes you right back whats the kids of today got to look forward to what a shit time were living in now

  • ste 123.....well put .that time is so far removed from todys values....keep the faith.

  • I was eleven years old when this song came out and it still sounds fresh and appropriate today. The seventies was a great time musically but looking back on our youth it always seems better and it probably was. Our time will come again mate.

  • hi philipsmovies...ref ''our time will come again'' love to think thats true but i'm not gonna hold my breath bud....

  • Woke me up ........................

  • grandi ma cazzo..il batterista..dai vecchio..d'acci dentro..!!!!!! anima

  • I saw the band at the lyceum theatre london for a penny in 1971! and the keyboard player was vince crane

  • Vincent Crane passed away in 1989 at 45. Interesting riff

  • It´s Paul Hammond on drums. Ric Parnell joined the band later

  • My mam went out with paul Hammond for quiet a while in the late seventies early 80s

  • carl palmer was long gone from the band at this point...i think this lad's name is ric parnell...carl was in elp

  • You can hear that!. Never the less a good song and a very nice sound. Love the period

  • Love this riff. B side( play the game) is good too. Thanks for posting

  • ..Carl Palmer on drums...?

  • nope just an observation

  • great song and band but hey if this was performed live wheres the fuckin brass section?

  • Well Spotted, do you play Bass?

  • It's a groove to the answer we all chase and know. Peace!
