  • the bottle cut would have been nice if it was still standing but great work man, i never even tried a mat for my first cut. they slice a lot nicer than water bottles i must say.

  • @ninjabastard666 Thanks. Old video though ( 3 and a half years ago. ) some of my newer cutting vids show much improvement.

  • great sword but i wish people would use proper footwork in there videos... that would look like they knew what they were doing more and get a much more powerful, and clean cut. but nice first try!

  • @S1L3NTP1G This is an old video and as stated was my first attempts at cutting, but you should note that my proper foot ( right) is forward when cutting down diagonally to my left, so my feet are in fact in the proper place.

  • @Jeeperrandy My mistake. Your feet were in the correct place. I am used to seeing a different type of footwork but now I know you are practicing a different style. Good job.

  • @S1L3NTP1G Meh, I was sloppy and stiff, and cut WAY harder than needed, but as I said , it was a couple of years ago and my first time cutting.

  • Nice cuts!! Doesn't it just feel great when you get the perfect cut and time almost slows down while your slicing. Check out my coconut chop and zatoichi slice vids.

  • Thank you.

I was learned TAMIYA at Kuroda sensei.

  • What [ryu]style are you?

  • Mainly just ZNKR Seitei with some tachi variations due to arthritis, but there are some beautiful old ryu ( Tamiya for example ) that I am learning a few katas from as well.

  • what katana are you using?

  • I was using a Masahiro in this video.

  • nice cutting bro. i make a ton of martial arts vids if you like and tamishigiri. i do ninpo and budo arts.

  • its true mountanous dus ace vidz i watch em d i subscribed =3 XD

  • DUDE NICE CUTS! WHAT ARE YOU CUTTING? sorry about the caps

  • The mats are just rolled and soaked beach mats from the discount stores. they are similar to tatami for cutting. the rest is just bottles, jugs and an apple

  • any1 for sliced apples? lol, nice cuts man!

  • Thanks. I really smacked it on that first cut, I quickly learned I didn't have to use so much force, lol.

( and don't be fooled by the video, I didn't get the apple on the first try, heheh.)

  • hi, great video really cool :D

who wants real nihonto swoords made of tama hagane 15 till 25 times soshu kitae folded katana, should come

here to okayama praefecture. in osafune is a very famous sword smith, he was allready in over 111 country on tv in different tv documentaries. hes swords are really expensive, between 2000 and 2 000 000 dollars 0_o. greets from another UBC :) keep it on, ganbare! 0^_^o

  • looks like that dude is old with katana

  • Yup, all the great masters are old ;-)

  • I have been cutting apples for years with these cheap stainless steel pieces of you know what. After years of researching swords,I have finally found my sword. A little more expensive than yours, but only by about 100 more bucks.

  • before you buy anything you should check out SBG and speak with hyoujinsama he is very knowledgeable and always helpful...

  • nice video , i liked the apple cuts...

  • Thanks. Ya, that last one, in slow motion, was almost picture-perfect ! The first one was sloppy, too high, and I way over-swung.

  • but thats why you video it to improve yourself i greatly appreciate your critical eye for your own work keep up the good work!

  • nice, katana right? i was wondering, are you able to execute a slash drawing the weapon?

  • I did one in my second video, however, I have arthritis and arthritic damage to my hands and I can't properly close my right hand or grip well with it so I am not comfortable with nukitsuki.

  • Also, I do a couple at the apples at the end of this video.

  • Very nice video, and i have to agree somtimes its too sharp to use for iaido at least until you get a feel for the blade

  • Yes, and with the arthritis in my hands, I feel that I cannot safely practice nukitsuke with this live blade. I won't be doing any drawing, one-handed cuts with it.

  • Well, I guess that wasn't in fact true, as I just did one in my latest cutting video, lol.

  • great cutting session!

what sword is that your using?

  • It's a Masahiro. One of those less expensive 'assemble yourself' models.

I found the fit of the tsuka and tsuba were not rally great, but the blade was very sharp and the price was good.

  • I looked up your sword and it is actually pretty darn good quality for the price! 1045 carbon-steel is not bad for under $100! It looks like it cuts well too. I've paid that much for swords that would have bent on that tatami omote mat!

  • I wasn't really that impressed with this particular Masahiro. Once I got my Kawashima I saw a big quality difference. The Kawashima is only listed at about $20 more. Better fit and finish , and sharper too.

  • Very nice cuts, your footwork was correct, and you pull off the stylish Hakama and Gi, :).

    Very nice.

  • very cool!!!

  • That's some fine cutting Randy. Look like you where having lots of fun.

  • Ya, it was interesting, being my first time. I think I'm going to try some more soon.

  • nice cutting, and nice back yard !!!

  • By Golly, you got the job done.

  • Excellent! Your timing is very good, and you have excellent posture in your cuts.

  • Looks like on the first cut you weren't expecting the cut to be so easy. :)

  • Exactly. I put a bit too much into that first cut, lol. I was more surprised by how clean the cut was though.

  • wow.I have this pile of wood that needs cut into kindling, wanna come visit? :P :P :P

seriously, I'm impressed, you are really getting good!

  • Good job Ran, feels good don't it? Now, I'll be expecting to see many more.
