In the '90s , they were not that good. Some of their shit completely dreadful. In the early 2000's, they got good and had moments of really fucking rocking. At times overrated, but still far better than most/any Washington post grung era Bullshit like that motherfucker Dave Grohl who I wish would die, already.
How long was that song written before this was shot? It looks to me like Carrie smiles when Corinne sings "that dress you wore, those pretty shoes" I wonder if she's smiling because she's not really a dress wearing girl. It's a cute video makes the song a little more haunting since you know it's about the two people singing it.
That looks more like an Ibanez RoadStar to me. But for most of the band's run she used a Dan Electro and a Les Paul, split into two amps for "bass" and "guitar" signals.
I fell in love with this band because it's my daughter's fave. I took her to see them at one of them fest things. I went to see Social D. This band was stuck out at one of the outer stages, in a fucking parking lot. They. Were. Amazing. 30 minutes of really tight musicianship, intensity, and passion. One of my fave musical experiences. Period. Up there with seeing the Clash, the Jam, and Bruce. Carrie is one of the finest guitarists I've heard. Corin's voice is haunting. Great band. Just great.
Amazing stuff Corin's voice aches in this version more than on the record. It seems everyone got a happy ending. (except for the fans... Sleater Kinney is the BEST live)
It is so sad to see shoppers going up and down the stairs- some pause and then keep going... who would not take a few minutes of their lives to stand and watch this awesome performance?!
I met corin at the post office, Jantet out side Creme' they both think they're a little much. Carrie's the hottest by far. I'd like to do more than meet her! This is the best song on "Dig Me Out"
"One Beat" 2002 is the only consistently good SK record. No no-talent un-bathed punk snot purple acne replies pleez. Study music in college and practice for decades before opening your trap to *me*

just a little arrogant ?
if one beat is the only consistent S-K record in yr opinion, then you dont know 2000's "all hands on the bad one" or 1997's "dig me out." the "hot rock" "call the doctor" and the self-titled debut are all good, but yeah, not consistent. ive studied music in college and im still attending college, so i opened my trap. no go check out those records befor you respond all defensive or boastful. i cant tell if yr m or f, or probably dyke... im fag, so i know my shit!
this is just my opinion as a long time fan...although i love many of the songs off "all hand on the bad one", i think thats their most inconsistent record..it feels like a bunch of songs put together, rather than a cohesive record..and their debut..bottom line, there is no such thing as a bad sleater-kinney album or song..
yr entitled to yr opinion, but do you really judge a record on it cohesiveness? some artist go thru phases or experiment with styles, instruments, sounds. maybe they work and maybe not. i dont think the artist cares if one experimental song meshes with the rest of the record. if the song is saved as a b-side, then most would not get to hear it. what a shame. im sure the artist wants people to hear their feelings... cohesive or not.
You got the drummer wrong, if not cause I can't really tell if it's Janet or not, you definitely have the year wrong then. I doubt you have the date wrong cause the song was written in latter 96 early 97. But wow do I swoon for Carrie, it's unavoidable.
i love the way carrie moves when she plays

Sleater Kinney are proof that just because two people in a band break up, that doesn't meant that the band has to break up, too.

Whats Corin's guitar?
ZRN959 1 year ago
@ZRN959 I think Corin had a Les Paul later in her career (namely for The Woods), but what she has in this video is a down-tuned Danelectro.

do you know what the song is about? the lyrics she said at that point were in reference to Carrie.. i guess that's why they exchanged a smile.
