was just there 2 days ago....Was only able to do the 60 footer because got nervous after it blew my shoes off.....haha...but i can attest to the height of this jump...it is 110 feet....Not only did i See it...but I talked to the locals that were at the jumps.....The name Devils diving board tells it all.....it is wicked....guernsey lake is a sweet place...check it out!
Regarding your reply to to Losangelsswimmin: The jumpers' inertia carries him in a horizontal motion, that for a short time counteracts gravity enough to throw off your calculations. It was a high jump but no where near 110 ft.
What is your source for how enertia affects the gravitational force on a dropped or propelled object? Every highschool physics book talks about a bullet shot vs. falling. The Y force (gravity) and the X force (running or shooting a bullet) are independent of each other. Check the Myth Busters show on a bullet dropped and a bullet shot both hitting the ground at the same time? Google "myth busters bullet drop". I measured from when he started falling not from when he jumped.
OK GUYS. hands down the BIGGEST jump on you tube.. IVE been there and it HIGH AS HELL, Im doubting only a hundred, seemd to me more like 150. CRAZY HUGE JUMP!!!! its at guernsey res. in WYOMING!!! CRAZY shit!!! WOW!!!!
my cousin and i droped a full pop can off the top of this and when we found it in the bottem it was just a mangled piece of metal. this is really high

you guys are morons, you are not taking into account wind resistance, angle of trajectory and the inaccuracy of human use of technology. there is not way to accurately measure the height of a jump by watching a video. only way to do it is to take a measuring rope and hang it down from the cliff, and even then you need to take in account the amount of hangtime the jumper gets when his feet leave the cliff and also the ebb and flow of water depth in the lake/river/creek. bottom line is jump is hi
@thekidzdad exactly, if there is any trajectory that matters, its initial jump's y-component. that would impact the height calculation. but you are right in saying that x-components and y-components are mutually exclusive, and that air resistance here is negligible I got just a little more than 109 feet (with my stopwatch, albeit terrible frame rate on this video).
@losangelesswimmin You're a moron. The trajectory angle makes no difference on the fall time. It's a simple calculation: h = (gt^2)/2 In case you still don't get it, the height is found by multiplying 9.81 by the square of the time taken (which can easily be timed), then deciding the answer by 2.
... that jump is every bit as high as advertised. I ran 10 time trials -- starting only when his hips began to descend -- and threw out the high and low times. The avg. was 2.731 secs. giving a height of 119.80 feet and a final speed of 59.91 mph.
Tell Chris he has my respect!! How old is he by the way?

The angle of trajectory does not impact the singular force of gravity downward and that is what is measured. Ask your highschool physics prof.
I measured the 2.63 to 2.7 secs from a video editor going frame by frame to be sure I started when he began "falling"
Wind resistance does not slow a thin human with little clothing in a 3 secs or less drop by enough to make a difference.
I am not a moron.
The jump is hi, like 110' or more :-)
Have a nice day LA swimmin
