@pbdude725 A handful of London police officers are learning I believe, on a trial run to see how effective it will actually be, don't quote me on that though, it's just word of mouth. =]
please american parkour will you say in yr description that this isnt the full chase, everyones arguin about this section of it, and the full chase is really good. give them a link for the full one.
i dont think jaking was referring to the time it takes, i think he was referring to the energy spent, which is just as important in regards to efficiency as time.
Humans are not faster than many, many animals but we are the ones who can outdistance ANY animal. This is because of our fantastic sweat system, our relatively hairless skin and our pivoting skeletal structure.
ye, but if u have some object like a car or a trash cant, its just easier to simply run around it, than vault over it. Because of that, the vaults are one of the less important parkour techniques
for some reason i wanna just get caught by the police doin soemthing and run away just like that and stop on top of a building laughing my ass of at them below
There was a great chase scene at the beginning of the most recent episode of house which involves some obvious Parkour moves. Footage @ FOX Television
Are you serious? Ive been a traceur longer than you could speak, obviously due to your terrible grammar. As Jesusdragon said, this is just a chase scene. Chase scenes have been around long before parkour, if this involved a move that was invented FOR PARKOUR SPECIFIALLY, then I would consider it pk. I know absolutly what parkour is.
though i dont agree with jakingofw, i think hes referring to the fact that it is parkour simply because this guy was using efficient movements... although he wasnt. i dont see how it was necessary or an energy saver or time saver to dive roll up stairs, or tic tac on a wall when you could just turn the corner
Good point man. I hate it when people call stuff parkour when it's just a roll, or jump or something. Especially if it's in a movie. Just because they do something that looks like a vault doesn't mean it's pk, especially if it's shown for just one second
thats because it IS Parkour. there is no such thing as a Parkour specific movement. Even running is Parkour if it is the fastest way to get from A to B in that situation. The name doesn't matter, it just helps us identify the move. I dont undertand the peopl that are saying "OMG that wasn't a real vault, its not parkour!!!!"
parkour has been around forever. we just gave it a name
It's not some transcendental name to throw around and apply to any movement, efficient or now. It's way of moving, sure. But there has to be purpose behind it. I doubt the guy performing was thinking "hey I'm doing stuff in this super commercialized Hollywood environment: parkour!"
yea i get what your saying. and your probably right. I'm just saying that even though they might not have meant it to be Parkour doesn't mean we can't call it that.
At that point it's just applying a label. Ask yourself why you're applying the name, and be careful in throwing it around. A short hollywood chase scene with about 1 full seconds screentimes worth of stunts is not parkour
Why should we have to meet you to know what parkour is? Thats irrelevant. Ill say it for the last time, chase scenes have always been around, and they have been using moves like tic tacs and rolls BEFORE parkour was invented. I used to jump off walls when I was a little kid. Now, If there was a vault like dash, or kong, that was made by traceurs, I would consider it pk
You honestly think that something like a "dash vault" was never performed ever until "Traceurs" pursuing the discipline of "Parkour" decided to try something like that?
Parkour is the title given to the movements of the chased and chasing. Just like the number ten didn't give you ten fingers. You've always had ten fingers, and somewhere along the line we decided to call them "ten".
thats like saying that a traceur invented the "kong" vault. Thats such a natural movement that many animals do. Humans are animals, weve just forgotten that fact.
Parkour has been around forever, we just gave it a name. in a chase, a person would want to use efficient movements right? chase scene = parkour (or at least staged parkour)
ti begins to get very annoying when users start copying and pasting other users comments... its been established that parkour has been around before tracuers far to many times already in this thread. we get it

if all criminals did parkour or were free-runners, police officers wouldn't get anything done. then again police officers should learn parkour.

There really weren't any "parkour" moves. Diving roll has been used before pk was even named, and ive been doing tic tacs before i started pk.

Yeah. This was just a chase scene on foot. There are things like this in hundreds of television productions.

exactly. if i saw a kong, or some other vault that was made from traceurs, i would consider it parkour.
