I'm Sonya too. I'm 6 years old. I have diatebes 1 type too. It's a pitty. My father did me first injection 3 days ago. Every day we see this video before injection.
Well done Sophie! :) I have type 1 too, but I'm not on the pen yet, I'm using a normal needle. But I'm going on to the pen soon and I'm really nervous >.<
Thanks Sophie! I just did my first injection with your help. I am no fan of needles, but I figured if a six-year-old can do it, I can do it at 30 years old :)
I was diagnosed at age 2 too and i have type one too but im 12 now and i do the same thing she does every day 4times a day and my dad is a type 2 diabitic and he took pills untill he hade to take shots because his pancreas stopped perducing insuiln
hiiiii! my name is sarah im fifteen and was diagnosed with type one diabetes three days ago, i just got back from the hospital and sophie is such an inspiration i still cry when i give my shots every now and then!
No, type 1 means your pancreas produces no insulin, it's an autoimmune condition whereby your body attacks itself, no-one knows why. You are insulin dependant for life. Type 2 means either you produce not enough insulin, or your body doesn't control insulin/glucose balance properly - either way you will be on tablets not injections. Good luck x
I might have diabetes type 2 - 75%+ and I have 12 years old... I am making insulin... in hospital many was with diabetes type 2... they were making 3 injections... in time u will take medicine... but if you are new discovered you need to make until you will be more stabile
@kelmarie9 I have type 2, but I am on the tablets AND the insulin, since my blood sugar levels were always high, the tablets couldn't bring them down. Depending on what happens, you may have to give yourself insulin but try not to worry until it happens. Stress can raise your BSL (Blood Sugar Level) as can too many carbs.
@kelmarie9 I'm Type 2 diabetic and I'm on 2 injections a day. However, I spent 11 years on just pills. If you gain too much weight, aren't strict with your diet and don't exercise, you'll probably wind up on injections.
Hi Sophie, well done, that was really good. This is excellent for other children to see. You remembered to do the "air shot" first and also kept the needle in and counted to ten to make sure that the insulin was all in. You're a star.
brave little girl

Just start on a low carb diet, and go from there.

Sophie - you're a brave Young Lady. however, your ten count might be a little too fast.
You may try to count how my daughters' teacher taught her...she counts 1alligator, 2alligator, 3alligator, 4alligator, 5alligator, and so on.
I timed her counting once and it was very accurate!
Good Luck Sophie - May The Good Lord Bless You.
