I don't think you can download the first, second, third, forth, and fifth games. They're only for the PC-98 (NEC PC-9801) platform. Unless you have one then, you shouldn't have a problem playing Touhou.

I never seen an old Touhou game up for free download. You can try to search for them but I doubt it. If not, then the only way is by buying it.

@Paulsama Yeah, it's quite an inversion of the Breakout formula where you can let the ball hit the ground but you must not let the ball hit you. This is what Reimu was doing in her younger days, just kicking the yin-yang orb and throwing some paper around.

I enjoy the fact that it says "TOTLE" instead of "TOTAL." Second of all, for being on Normal you are a brave soul. I hate the fact that there's no up or down option, just left or right. I suck at the other Touhou games already. At 06:03 YOU CAN KNOCK DANMAKU WITH YOUR MIKO STICK (whatever it's really called)? I didn't know that. Great job.

I've always wondered how it would be possible to get rid of those pesky characters between the letters & numbers. BTW, how did you get the text to look more readable right then? It doesn't look nearly as readable.

First, get the japanese font .bmp file (just google Anex86 and click the second link. Look for the emulator, click on it, and below its download link there should be a font file up for download as well)

Once you do that, go to Anex86, click on config and then font. click on "..." and look for the japanese font file. and viola, readable font!
