  • What guitar is that?

    Awesome cover BTW

  • @GuitarDude07501 .....Epi Dot....and thanks!

  • @seveertrebor Do you think you can send me a link to where you got the tabs or how you learned the song? I know the intro but can't figure out the rest.

  • @GuitarDude07501 ..... I mainly learn by ear and watching the live dvds, some good tabs at 911tabs, but they are never that accurate.

  • LOVE! ♫ <3 Excellently done!

  • @roz59 ...thanks v much.

  • You are laid back, bro. Way to be.

  • @jeligula ....the only way!

  • i got baked to this song.......alot

  • Your vids are the best Iv'e seen by far. Can you break down some leads for us??

  • @1manwithstick ...thanks. Yeah, one day....got lots of other covers to do though. Anything specific you need help with??

  • @seveertrebor I was working on La Villa, but the faster parts are too much for me.

I'd like to work on The Trees.. not as fast

  • @seveertrebor Well.. techniech is my big problem. I tend to have a bear grip. Have you ever had this problem and if so, how did you break it. I can tell when someone is wat too heavy on the neck because I do the same!! Watching you I don't see that

  • @1manwithstick .....I think I have been lucky in that area. With trying to play Rush, you do need clarity as there is a lot of arpeggio work in ALs playing, so you need to keep your thumb round the back, rather than wrapping it round, so you can play individual strings notes clearly. I guess it just takes practice a suppose or even try and get some tuition??

  • thats some great guitar work . if you could would you walk me thru the chords on intro or at the very least give the names am a beginner and that would help me alot thank you i learned the FLY BY NIGHT song by watching you lay THAT IS A COOL GUITAR YOU WERE PLAYING

  • @vr1171 ......the acoustic intro is D, F#m, Db, A, E, G, A. Bm. Hope this helps you out!

  • larryruiz1 thanks again for the help it took me some time but i think i got it down hows about ROLL THE BONES . either way thanks for the help

  • Awesome playing man, my only input is that the chord at 2:09 should be an F, not an F#

  • @zeppelinfan444 ....cheers for that. I will have to take a look at that, F# sounds right, buy hey!

  • HEY EVERYBODY IT'S ALEX LIFESON JESUS OF MUSIC. You look old enough to be him no offense clone of Alex

  • can you make an instructianal video for this ?

  • buena tecnica

    excelente efecto

  • @metztlitodopoderoso ....thanks!

  • isn't it tree village?

  • Excellently played there!

Would you be able to maybe put a lesson up for this...? Please?! :P

  • ...if I had the time I would, but will help out with specifics if you are stuck?? Thanks.

  • man your a great guitarist. i have an epiphone 2. great guitars!!

  • .....yep, I keep going back to Epi's.

  • Great tone. 5/5

  • nice sounding and nice looking guitar, is that an Epiphone? I have an epiphone acoustic and thinking about buying my first electric.

  • Hi..yep, its an Epi Dot, very nice guitars.... they do vary though is quality though.

  • @seveertrebor i know what u mean, my lp standard is a pretty good one, but when i got it set up the guy said that a lot of people bring in some that are pretty bad

  • Do u have the tabs or at least the chords?

  • No...but there loads of wesites

  • GREAT playing mate!

  • cheers for that

  • THE BEST SONG EVER!!!!!!!

  • sick guitar bro

  • cheers....ok, I'll grin like an idiot next time!

  • Exactly! He is a good guitar player, but he looks like Perry Como, and he needs a pillow

  • cheeky bastard

  • i just finished learning this and im gunna post a video of it pretty soon. Look for "fLiPPedOuT2112" and see if you can find it. PS the 2112 is for the first rush album i ever bought. it changed my guitar forever!!

    Tryer0011

  • cheers mate!

  • dude ur incredible!! has anyone ever told you you look like david guilmore?!

  • cheers.....yes, quite often!! (my wife doesn't see it!).

  • oohh men this is a very nice guitar

this is the best song of rush !!

  • what is the pedal you use?

    sounds incredible...XD

  • this was played thru a Line 6 Flextone III.

  • That sounds like phaser... Interesting...

  • I love this. Would you comment on what you were using for effects? Especially for the solo?

    Thanks,

    Chuck

  • ....I have changed amps since, but this was played thru a Flextone III.

  • Sweet! Old school rush is the BEST!

  • cheers for that

  • nice man, I just subscribed, and where do you get your Tabliture?

  • cheers....Pro Guitar 5, but listening and watching the live DVD's

  • ah man, that sounded perfect, i love the part at 3:35 lol, Nice Playing!

  • chers....yeah, even i was quite pleased with this one!

  • Oh Man :)

    Maple for the tree

    You for the Music of R U S H

    You are so dedicated.

Now I know I was second to none :)

You are so talented with the Guit.

I once was hoping to be a great player. Now I focus on being a "master" at mixing.

Anyway, since Rush, it's all new scores.

    Hat down. You blows.

    ~Al Biss

  • sounds great! What kind of amp are you using?

  • cheers...this was played thru a flextonee III

  • this is a great cover, but i dont think the phaser is necessary

  • woah ur freaking good =]

i mean not trying to be offensive

    but for an old guy

    u did amazing!

other bands are old and shit

but wow im taking u dont have a band but yet u play that good?

    5* =]

  • ...thanks for the back handed compliment!! Depends if you think 44 is old! Not in a band, got a "young" family to look after.

  • oh dang fuck that then

haha ur younger than my dad

    nice job though

  • ...no worries, your not the first to think i look 82! bad lighting, grey hair, receding hairline, etc. etc.

  • You look like one of the Flemion brothers from The Frogs.

  • very well done trebbzz a true classic amongst classics

  • Is there anyone any harder to play than Alex?

  • seveertrebor you rock...nice work...love it...and not just this cover...keep up the good work...thanks

  • cheers for that

  • good job I don't see many people who can do rush but you did a good job they are my favorite band.

  • thanks, appreciate it

  • What kind of amplifier and pedal were you using?

  • ...this was played thru a Flextone III, integrated FX.

  • I really like it. Good job, sir!

  • nicely done can we have another vid showing your left hand at a straight on angle to the neck please..one of the first covers ive seen in a while that hits alex note for note...i have to admit i couldnt stop listening and singing along..good job

  • ...glad you liked it, yeah, i'll try and get round to it some time. If you get stuck you can always give me a shout?

  • Incredible song, incredible cover... beautiful guitar, if only I had the money by a gibson.

  • cheers...good news is that is an Epi Dot, still a great guitar, save your money and buy one these!

  • Awesome, awesome job! One of my favorite Rush songs.

  • Great cover. I like how the midi drum track couldn't quite do some of Neal's fills ha

However...I didn't really like the effect you used for the singing parts. Like how the sound fluctuated (I play drums; I don't know the word for it)

Other than my personal preference, great job

  • Why do you use midi or whatever

Why dont you just play to the real song?

    good job though

    check out my guitar videos

  • god darn! you did an AMAZINGLY PERFECT JOB on this song!! Keep rockin! this song was RIGHT ON! You're the best coverist i've seen on youtube!

  • cheers...even i quite liked this one!

  • Hello there. I'm going to be purchasing an Epiphone Dot because it so closely resembles Lifeson's Gibson. Alex likes using his tremolo bar, but the Dot doesn't have one. Do you wish there was one there, and how do you compensate for it? I was thinking a Bigsby B7 tailpiece. Other than that great playing as usual!

  • Never tried a Bigsby, I use my PRS CE24 for any trem work, and my Epi LP for other stuff. There are a few other trems out there that may be worth looking at (Duesenberg, Stetsbar)

  • man great, they played this and 2112 in 2008 when i saw them, but when i saw them in 2007 they didnt so it was quite the thrill.. .

  • Nice cover....ur like the best rush coverist on the net...anyhoo....it wud be awesome if you did a long cover of the fountain of lamneth...u'd be gd at it...suprised u have not done it yet actually...one of the altime greatests......thanks...xD

  • appreciate the feedback.....I'll get round to doing some of their older stuff one day, its just theres so much of it

  • I agree, I agree, awesome.....xD

  • Mmmm I love it!

    Props for you =]

One of the better i have seen on youtube

  • ...not especially diff, depends what level you are at?

  • you are my idol.....if u could comment my page with the tabs to it i owuld be very grateful.....im tryin to learn it to impress my father

  • can you play " in the mood" ?? if you can that would be great..

  • Pretty Freaking good. No doubt about it. I love your playing dude. Very impressive!!!!

  • Beautiful. I hope I will be able to play as well as you some day.

  • AMAZING, you have my respect

  • Just like Lifeson played it. Love it!!!!!

  • How many Guitars do You have

  • ..just 6

  • i love all your Rush covers! =)

  • glad you enjoy them

  • dawg!!!!!!!!enough said

  • that's great! you kicked it!!

  • hey man could you play the main monkey buniness for a fellow guitarist

  • maybe, got some other stuff i want to have a go at first

  • okay cool

  • I can play this now!!! THe begining is lke perfect, the middle...needs work. When it's good enough, I'll put it up. I also just want to say thanks. Watching your videos practically taught me Tom Sawyer, Spirit of Radio, and The Trees. Thanks, and rock on!

  • no problem...glad they helped you out!

  • good job...i was wondering if you could play the way the wind blows?????? off the snakes and arrows album

  • yeah, nearly! love that song, just need to close out the solo

  • awesome thanks

  • There are a lot of us Rush fans that wish we could do that. Great job! Fun to watch.

  • Beautiful! Is that Epi Dot stock?

  • cheers...yeah, but i had to dress the frets!

  • Great job. I just know a bit of the beginning.

  • I'm trying to learn this...the begining Is hard. Strangly enough, the problem really lies in my left hand. Anyway, great job!

  • Yeah, took me a while, strange picking...you'll get to learn that nothing is ever simple with lerxst!

  • awsome

  • This is hilarious. We're a bunch of old guys still playing the music our parents warned us about.

Good stuff, man. Keep it up.

  • awesome cover man i have the same guitar but its red and its a gibson not an epiphone

  • thanks....might upgrade one day, but i just sold a gibson LP, as it wasn't the step the up i was expecting from the epi!

  • thats a sweet sounding guitar what effects are you using?? im trying to get a stash of extras but i dont know what is good

  • Played through a Line 6 Flextone III (just overdrive and touch of flanger). I have now upgraded as non too impressed. Now using a combi-tube amp, Hughes and Kettner Switchblade...much smoother tone, epsecially on the solos.

  • thanks :D you look like a very accomplished guitarist i salute you

  • where do you get thes music to play the sings from?

  • Excellent, as usual. You make it look so easy. I WORK MY ASS OFF just getting through Prelude or Overture, furrowed brow, tongue sticking out of the side of my mouth like a kindergartener learning how to write...

  • ...hey, thats what I'm like before its gets to video standard!!!

  • Thanks dude for posting these video's. They have sure helped me fill in the parts that I have had trouble figuring out in the past.

  • Superb - just saw the Snakes show at Wembley - as good as ever but I miss the classics like this, Xanadu and Bytor etc. Have had the Exit and Grace videos for 20 years and never tire of watching them. Keep up the good work.

  • ....seeing them Friday, look forward to hearing some of the old stuff they have not covered for a long time.

  • Superb - saw the Wembley show yesterday - wish they'd done more of the oldies like this, Xanadu, Bytor etc but I can't complain...I have been watching the Exit Stage Left and Grace Under Pressure live videos for nearly 20 years now - I just never tire of them. Life-changing band for me.

  • all of your covers are amazing! I would love to see you do La Villa Strangiato. I'm sure you could pull it off :)

  • cheers...la villa will be posted soon.

  • Great job. I've always loved that song.

  • wow!! men you're GREAT!! jajaja i am learning this song... i learned the solo like an hour... but in this vid you play it so well.... but the thing that impresive me is that YOUR SOUND IS EQUAL AS ALEX!

could you please tell me witch effects you used to made this video!! i will be very gratefull!!

  • Thanks for the comments...I'm using a Flextone III amp, Solo 100 model (drive toned down), with a touch of flanger.

  • As usual, fantastic playing. Nice touch to switch picking position to sharpen the tone during the middle bridge. I just can't keep that middle bridge going for long enough ... must practice it more!!

  • Thanks, appreciate it! Know what you mean...took a while to crack it, it just flows though if you keep going!

  • wow, that's the best The Trees Rush guitar cover I've seen so far!!

  • appreciate it, thanks

  • NICE!! i can't take it anymore, time to bust out the axe! that freakin' interlude drives me nuts!!! that's the crazy thing about Lerxst, what sounds like the easy parts are the hard parts, that bastard!!!

  • ...I know, its the same with nearly every song, there always that one bit!!!!!!

  • Nice work! Is that a flanger effect or a phasor? The two effects can sound so similar sometimes that I get them confused.

  • Flanger on this one.

  • i love this song, keep it up =D

  • thanks

  • I think your fantastic. I thought I was the only person in the world who sat around playing Rush songs. It drives my wife mad probably because I'm nowhere near as good as you. Just one thought though, I'm pretty sure that when you play the instrumental through, the third from last chord is an F not F#. If you listen to it through I think you'll agree the F# clashes with the backing track. Hope you don't mind me saying, I just wish I could play the solo's.

  • thanks for the kind words...I'll check out the F/F#.

  • I'm adding all your Rush songs to My Favorites. You're that good!

  • Cool. One of my fav Rush songs. But everytime I play it for people that have never heard it, they look at me and say "what the heck is this - music for Hobbits?" :)

  • ..the poor lost souls, unfortunately a lot of them just don't get Rush.

  • You need play in front of people who know REAL music! No one should question ANY Rush song...especially The Trees.

  • Could not agree more, but alas some poor souls are unfortunately lost as seveertrebor pointed out

  • very good work!! excellent

  • thanks, appreciate the feedback

  • Hey! Excellent guitar work. Can you demonstrate 2112 discovery, presentation and the others? Much appreciated.

  • self taught!!!, All I need to know to be inspired even more by your covers. Thanks for holding the red star proudly high in hand!

  • Yeah, boils down to how much you want it! Rock on!

  • fuckin awesome! I love it.

  • Killer sound... one of the best and cleanest I've heard. Great playing, but you looked kinda serious and not having fun. If I could play like that the air guitar guys would be out of a job :)

  • Hey....I'm smiling on the inside!!

  • Are the pick ups stock? If so how are they clean for blues stuff(esp the neck pup). I'm thinking abouit getting a Dot, theye seem like a good guitar for all music types.

  • Yes, pups are stock. Dots are OK, but be prepared to put a bit of work into them if you are buying new i.e. set up, I even had to dress the frets!! Sound is nice though!!
