  • if this doesn't make you want a Capybara I don't know what would

  • Ohhhh he is making the cutest sounds <:3~~~~~~

  • he is chirping

  • To the Moderator:

I think it's fair to say Caplin Rous is the most famous and popular rodent

in the USA next to Mickey Mouse.

So, has his celebrity status changed him in any way?

Has he made any diva like demands?

Should we worry about him becoming a Lindsay Lohan-type?

  • @wheelinthesky300 It is hard to imagine an animal more demanding than Caplin Rous but this attitude predates his fame.

  • Hes like a hairy human :D

  • He's thinking

what a life this is. I don't have to forage for food, got my own pond and i don't have to watch out for jaguars. Thank you so much for adopting me and bringing me to Hollywood

  • he sounds like a cricket

they are grazing animals, right? so i guess you just need lots of salad for him to eat

  • it a hamster mated with a horse, this is what you would have i think.

you would have to make sure the mother was the horse though. If the mother was the hamster at about 2 months you would have an explosion. lol

  • he's cute

  • my new favourite animal

  • So how big a pool do these things need? And can they be 'potty trained'?

  • @bkatt500 His pool is 9' x 18' x 4.5' which is big enough. You could probably go with a little smaller. They need something fairly deep because they swim underwater.

He is house trained. He uses as bowl of water in the bathroom that I dump into the toilet after use.

  • Lols. You should bring caplin where I live and teach him to be a service animal, then give it to my mom. She would freak :)

  • cool video. thanks for posting

  • how peaceful is this video? caplin rous looks so sweet!

  • 好可愛喔~~

    我真的好想要養一隻

    不管我去哪裡

    我都會帶著他走

    太拉風了 不愧是地表上最大的齧齒類

    哺乳類的奇蹟

  • <3 <3 <3

  • cute!

  • His teeth are big. LOL I've been bit by mice and rabbits and the rabbit really hurt! I hate to think what a bite from Caplin could do. XD But he sure is cute!

I'd pet him but carefully. lol. I love watching him swim.

  • I thought I was the only person who's been bitten by a rabbit! FUCKING HURT, 12 years later I still have the bent fingernail to prove it!

  • This is adorable. Very endearing!!

  • wow how strange i never knew u could get rodents that size.. learn somethin new every day

  • does he bite and is he smart??

  • He has bitten and he is very smart. You can learn more about him on his blog. The url is in the video description.

Caplin is normally very, very friendly. I take him all over and he meets literally hundreds of people and is always friendly. At home he can get a little territorial.

  • Caplin is adorable in the pool :)

  • wow thisis cool, is it bad ive never heard of this animal before :P?

  • They're actually rodents, believe it or not. The largest rodent on earth.

  • Do you think Caplin Rous would get along with dogs? I love watching your videos. Makes me want a capybara...

  • He generally gets along with dogs when we see them out and about town. Only one has ever come to visit him and that was a long time ago. He gets along with rabbits. I think the issue is more will the dog get along with him?

  • que lindo me dan ganas de estrujarlo

  • Does that water have chlorine in it?

  • There is a little chlorine otherwise the pool would go green in a day. He only spends about 1 hour per day in the pool so it's not like he's in it all the time.

  • looks like its saying cmon in the water is fine

  • o_O COoooooooooooolL =)

  • <3 Caplin! I saw your buddys at the snakefarm in TX this summer :)

  • Looks like a nutria minus a tail.... and about 10 times the size too! VERY cute

  • VERY VERY CUTE!!!!

And Caplin, you are a very good swimmer!!

  • thats cool how they swim hehe they look like big big guinea pigs to me....thats probably why they r related

  • ^^ awesome!!

  • Aww he is adorable and hes so friendly and tame. Wonderful footage! Lovely to meet you Caplin Rous :)

  • wow where did you get him?

I never thought of capybaras as pets

  • In general, he makes an excellent pet but he does require a lot more attention than a dog or a cat. If you read the channel home page, there's more information about him there.

  • how do u keep his pool clean? is their chlorine in it? is that harmful to them?

  • We do keep a low level of chlorine in it. He is only in the pool about 1-2 hours per day. Luckily it's a small pool so we are able to drain it occasionally.

  • ok thanks for the info. also how do you deal with poo lol

  • Caplin does not defecate in the pool, although he does always poop in the water. He has a little water bowl that he uses. He's a very clean little animal.

  • I love his chirps! I also watch a Caplin clip when I want to cheer up.

  • Here I was going, 'Guinea pigs are cute, if only they could be bigger..'

I thought he was an Agouti at first but Capybaras must be funner since they swim :D

  • i hope we can meet one day! i love u caplin! <3

  • I couldn't be happier you're having a good time with your owner!

  • Aww I love Caplin! :) Another great video :)

  • Cute chirps.
