  • Quite the young lady. She could nearly close her eyes and do that. Native dress, lovely.

  • So mexicans are Indian

  • I think is awesome that the making of tortillas was handed down to this young girl from her mother or grandmother. That's a beautiful thing! We enjoy tortillas and I'm looking forward to making them from scratch.

  • METATE is the the item where the girl is grinning the corn dough. It is made of stone, very heavy and the item she uses to grind the corn dough is called MANO DE EL METATE ( metate's hand) My mom had one and we would drag it because no one could pick it up!

  • That girl looks so young! As a little girl I used to go buy the tortillas for our meal and the owner prepared the corn dough, old fashion way, and there was a huge "comal" grilled heated with wood, the women were around it making the torillas, some of them used a little tortilla maker the kind you put a ball of masa between plastic sheets and is pressed. Other women made them by hand.

Love them!!! En ze ruiken zo lekker!!! <3 <3..... I'm proud to be mexican!!! =D De las mejores tortillas!!!! Riquisimas!!!!

  • THANK YOU AZTECS!!

  • My abuela makes them the same way but now she uses that machine that makes the masa flat, I honestly dont know whats it called. But anyways, homemade tortillas are always the best, and they smell so good too :D!

  • VIVA MEXICO!!!

  • If you want more authentic than this you can take a bus till the end of the road and then walk to an isolated community where delivery trucks cannot bring butane. It is the same method, only changes the fireplace, in isolated areas, the fireplace y fed with charcoal or wood, and is inside the house. Mostly the same.

  • love home made tortillas nice and fresh! store bought tortillas are not the same!

  • Now that's how you make real tortillas.

Just like my abuelita makes them

  • pro-skills

  • who was the genious that invented that?

  • que agilides

  • I hate when something is called "Mexican something" tortillas are made all around central America not everyone is Mexican sorry to say.

  • @sweetbread0o The person means Mexican version of tortillas -_-

  • Well, my grandmother doesn't live in a ranch or lives in a small town. In fact, she lives in a big modern city in northern Mexico, but she always makes tortillas this way. Always the best :)

  • She can strech, tap, and flip me anytime...

  • In what part of Mexico was this video taken?

  • YUMMMMMMMMMMMM! i want to walk over grab one roll it up and bite into it!

  • @sonyaristizabal pos quedate all en mexico duuum fuck ...aqui controla los chicanos and we dont need nomore illegal imigrants in here...wit us mexicans born in u.s.a is enough...we are the new generation so fuck the last generation putos mojados me dan lastima pendejos susios nitienen estilo vaqueros dela sierra fuck all yall...

  • @montana1234cartel what the hell r u talking about...:S ur the new generation??...get outta here,,, go back to ur country u aint no new generation ur still a fucked up mexican...:SS u were born in the US and so what...? nd u talk bout filthy mexicans so ur parents must b that huh? damn discriminator talkin shit of ur own race...now thats nice...

  • Esas si son mujeres

  • @Gigoychucho HAHAHAHAHAHAHA

  • the best tortillas is made by hand not no machine eso es lo mejor tortillas reciend hechas a mano mmmmmmmmmmmmm goood nice and warm fresh hand made tortillas the best

  • ESAS SI SON VERDADERAS TORTILLAS LITERALMENTE UNA OBRA DE ARTE ASI LO VEO YO, NO LAS PORQUERIAS QUE HACEN LOS GRINGOS PURAS PENDEJADAS COMO SIEMPRE,

NO HAY COSA MAS RICA QUE TORTILLAS HECHAS A MANO RECIEN CALIENTITAS CON UN MENUDO O UN CON UN MOLITO VERDE!!!!

  • Geez, that is real for real

  • Mad Skills

  • my wife make tortillas like that lol

  • wwwaaaaa i miss my mom now

  • I miss grandmas tortillas she made them like this. They are so good!

  • The best tortillas are the ones my great-grandma made a mano back in the rancho.

  • What a sweet girl.

  • hey i wanna know how to do that...

  • Wow, that is technique! My dream is to be able to make by tortillas by hand the way she does and makes look so easy. But its NOT easy to make them by hand! Mothers teach daughters and the technique is passed down; same as 5000 years ago. The method she is doing is the same way the Aztecs or Mayans would have made tortillas and the the stone grinding metate looks exactly the same as ones removed from 3000 yr old Aztec or Mayan tombs.

  • native mexican make tortillas

Orgullo mexicano!

Even Without the help of a rolling pin, and neither the help of a machine for making the mix! Amazing ho...w she makes the circular shape of a real tortilla! Mexican pride!

  • Thanks for sharing. She didn't need a rolling pin!

  • sorry if i insist, no 100% original. the comal is also an important issue, the hot griddle is, and i wiil be the right one. no the metal.

  • @entresaco it is about the tortilla, not the heat on the "comal"

  • @entresaco save a tree, use butane gas!

  • @entresaco

if you heat you cheesburger in the microwave, in the oven or on the grill, does it affects its originality?

no seas wey inche gringo come-hamburguesas!

    VIVA MEXICO!

  • @entresaco Yes, and a metal griddle...she should be using a clay one..lol!!! But Idon't think that would make a great difference!!!

  • @entresaco if you wanna make original!!!! gringos need to go back to europe !!

  • They taste much better than the one made with the store brought flour. Instead of the metate, we have a metal hand cranked flour grinder. We grind our masa twice with the flour grinder. Now we use an grain grinder from Kitchenaid. And we trade our corn with other natives. Never buy Monsanto's GMO corn stock.

  • hows that for authenticity??

  • Deseo que pudiera probar una...

  • this are tortillas. you can't make them ok, its hard. Only in mexico no matter if you have the ingredients, it does't tase the same I miss my grandmas. If you want to try them go to mexico its the only way, most likely in a really small restaurant or a house, not in a fancy or in the city.

  • Tortilladora, Tortilladora,?!

We don't need no stinking Tortilladoras!

  • El verdadero arte de la comida Mexicana

  • Wow, I enjoyed her craftsmanship, she is truly an expert, and her homemade tortillas are probably so good.

  • Funny thing is that looks bored. So, while making tortillas in a way that we can't even hope to copy, she's not only doing it masterfully, but is probably thinking about something else while doing it. Now that's impressive!

  • wow, if you take this lady.

you take one Object Oriented Programmer.

    you take one Mechanical Engineer.

    And Finally an Electrical Engineer.

Lets see if they can create a machine capable of mass producing these, cause I can see they taste damn good.

  • taco bell aint no mexican food..it is just a cheap copy

  • lol..in mexico there are tons of girls who know how to do this (well most of mexico)

they are very jealous girls though lol

  • well in rural areas, most of them know, but not in the cities

  • what your talking about i am a city girl and most of my friends and cousins now how to make them.

  • well, congrats... but in my family nobody does. They go just to the tortilla place and buy them. Good for you that you know how to make it but you must acknowledge that in big cities is not common to know.

  • agree!

  • Polish guy over here is now making tortillas...

    Thanks hector...

    bob/The Ghost of Elvis Project

    CANADA

  • wonderful video, hector.

  • I just tried to make some. I watched 3 or 4 videos and then tried it. I don't have a press, or the right plastic and they just fall apart. like it it took 3 goes to get a piece 3 inches square into the pan. How do they do it ? the stuff just falls apart, its flour and it just wants to get back to being flour.

  • Yeah this is the traditional way to may tortillas, the only thing missing is the "comal de barro", tortillas get a special flavor when they are made on a "comal de barro".

    Greetings from Mexico!!!

  • The ones who know how to do this are blessed. In hard times, we will not be able to go and buy them ready made. This is a nice thing to know how to do to feed your family.

  • mmmm !! so deliciuos are corn tortillas made with fresh "masa". Thanks very much for this video !! is super.. Saludos from Mexico and Poland

  • That was great. I didn't think that everyone had to had a tortilla press, and I was right! After watching this, I'm so hungry now.

  • Mexico is so full of culture.

  • Looks good. Very different from the ready made crap we get here in the states.

  • also is there a special recipe and method to making them?

  • thank you for the info what kind of stone is best to make one of these metate from and the rolling device?

  • I'm afraid a little late, but can tell you the "Metate" (used to grind corn) and the "Molcajete" (used as a mortar to make sauce) are made of black volcanic stone.

  • what is that table called she is using to roll the dough with ?

  • Metate

  • @thebluebunny1 its is call molcajete

  • a real pro wow

  • Yummy in my tummy!! :D
