  • There were mornings when I woke up and had this playing in my head....everything they say is true

  • saw this today in my english class.

it was amazing. I'm glad she made us watch this.

I do feel though that there words have no effect [or is it affect =/ ] on people who have never seen, been, or know some one from the "ghetto"

  • EXCUSES ARE ILLEGAL,NOT DREAMS

  • Dreams are NOT illegal. Amen.

  • Why aint diss shit on tv anymore? Fuck censorship, fuck the government an dey regulationz. It ruinz all da good shit. I wish the 90'z would replay 90 through 99 den restart all ova again

    Point blank.

  • i member they came to my school der so cool

  • Extremely powerful, a poem to resound in the heart and mind with wonderful contrast and performance. "In the Ghetto checks and basketballs bounce with regularity".. beautiful

  • The Devil has them chasing colorless rainbow, and at the end of there is no pot of gold but a pot of steam.

  • this is too perfect for words...if onli if onli ....the world could really hear you.

  • the end made laugh when one guy hit the other a lot harder in the face than the small tap on the head he landed in return. I'm sure they planned to do that but it seems like he was out of position and couldn't do anything about it.

that was just a random side note

i really like the piece and i have respect for their ability to convey a depiction of the ghetto a lot of people will never experience nor care enough to learn anything about.

  • ambalamps!

  • damn! powerful and very much true. grew up in a neighborhood like that

  • Amazing

  • this was very very powerful, and i can't stop listening to it, either on youtube or in my mind

  • i like how the power of two voices dramatically changes and gives variation to what we hear as listeners in a poem. i also kind of like that they're twins and that they sound/dress the same for this performance, it allows me to hear this poem as the many confused voices inside the head of a single individual. what we hear in this poem is very similar to the hierarchy of thought and process in our own minds, the many voices we hear and are conflicting and shouting over one another.

  • This video is one of my top watch; I really love what they said.

  • that how i fell....im dreamin in a beautiful suburbs with a husband n kids with a gorgeous life. but when i look at the real world the streets will do sumthin 2 u and the devil too

  • ya i agree

  • wats Contradictio in terminis??

  • Real talk talkin' real thangs!!!

  • dat was so deeep&clever iLOOOVED it !

  • that was powerful. I love the connection poetry makes among all backgrounds in the world. I never lived in the ghetto, as in experience life in it, and I'm not goin to say I get what they're sayin or can begin to understand. But it makes me think, think deeply about what I hav & how I take my life for granted because I havn't witnessed any of it on a daily basis. At the end of the day though, we all dream & it's all we hav to look forward to when we sleep.

  • Im certainly glad you enjoyed it. But the dreams they speak of are not the ones we have when we fall asllep. rather it is the vision of ourselves. the movement following potential that given the opportunity might take us out of the ghetto.

  • awesome...

  • How You Could Not Love Poetry, The Shit Makes You Think, It Makes You Wanna Be A Better Person This Shit Was Good Dreams Are Not illegal.

  • wooow...just AWESOME

  • i lik wen they said "live for nuthn, die for nuthn" ..thts tha truth.

  • Amazing

'..without dreams you are equivalent to non-existant'

  • Haha, 2:58.

  • i seen them do this live, it was awesome :)

  • amazing poets.

  • long streams of conscious hips on the hoppin mad past that dreams up to conjure the mystic happening in the air and trails the tribulations of heavens gone past, in our nostalgic wondering and musings of missing links that guide us to the everlasting fruitfulness which is the pie in the motherfucken sky and slides down all the way like a game of pickle to the safety position in our glee, succumbing to euphoric senses and delirious dreams that open to horizons beyond the quantum realms of an atom

  • man dat reall

  • goosebumps man goosebumbs!!

  • Luv it

  • i loved the beginning of his dream 28:-1:10

    Titanic again

  • beautiful and heartbreaking message. amazing.

  • Dreams are illegal in the ghetto but hearing this poem makes me dream

  • Positively positive! So ill I got sick on a dream overdose!

  • OMG this poem is really good. This is my newest favorites. This is probably the best poem I've heard in a long while.

  • EXCELLENT

  • God bless those who hold fast to their dreams.

    The ghetto is the physical.

You can live large in the mind.

    Dreams are not illegal...

  • I love the twin poets. Their poems are always so deep and creative. I also write poems. you guys can check out my page or type Agege in the search engine and tell me what you feel about it.

  • this is a great. its so true and great!

  • I couldn't help but want to tell one of them to shut up and let the other speak.

  • word.

  • these guys came to my school twice

  • they complement each other SO perfectly. i love this

  • word.

  • wow that was fantastic .

  • unique and raw

  • i thank God that the devil aint got no control here!

  • i met them

  • This shit was hotttttt and 2ip you a dumbass you need to be listening to the words instead of being so damn examinate about what they wearin ass

  • i like how they did this poem, spectacular.

  • I have heard this poem so many times I love it every time I see it

  • lol that is creative

  • this is so good and creative

  • noone ever said dreams are illegal in the ghetto.. i think thats your own mindset.

No no.. i think people are trying to shoot you because of those shirts. Yeah.. you both look 16. Grow up maybe? dude on the left looks like he lives under a bridge.. stfu whino

  • This post explains so much about our society and why spoken-word exists.

  • man, it must be like holidays to be depressed and feel anguish - as long as i have your horizon. the dumber - the simpler the pain. 2ip, one sip and gone r u

  • You are so ignorant and it is completely obvious that you can't comprehend! and it is also very obvious that you never stepped foot into a real ghetto! they were just expressing the subliminal messages that living in the ghetto could and possibly send to young naive children! think before you express an ignorant thought such as that one and stop hating i don't see you on Def Poetry making your dumb views known to the public

  • Dutch I feel what you saying but thats how I feel about dreams here Im a child but not Naive.

  • noo.....I think that was real ignorant. If you actually listened, I think you would've heard that he said (in his dream) he was riding through the suburbs and it was the perfect life basically and someone said "What are you doing here? Dreams are illegal..."

Line absolutely nothing to do with the ghetto, why would somebody try to shoot them because of their shirts? and what do anything that they're wearing or how they look have to do with what comes out their mouth or minds??

  • Now that was some good tag team poetry

  • I AGREE WITH "TOOCUTEFORWORDS"

  • Usually I don't like performances with two poets but these are just so in sync with each other that it works like their voices are made to be together - must be a twin thing.

Oh and positive lyrics with amazing deliverence.

  • SUPER EXTRA POSITIVE AND RAW

  • I loved it... When will black people dig out of the whole that we have dug ourselves into??? When will we be able to live with each other comfortably??? When will we stop killing each other over land that doesn't even belong to us??? When will we stop selling our brtohers and sisters poison??? It's frustrating to see your own kind doing dumb stupid shit!!!

  • You are asking a lot of questions; all of which seeking to treat the symptoms of an illness you've not identified.

  • shit man, gun shots n illegal dreams.

  • wow mind blowing

  • dream differed by Langston Hughes...check that out

  • postin twin text on where dreams are legal is the life of death which unfortunately most minds blow them selfs over and under the wealth makin the dream real but the same dream kills on the very real steel which everybody holds but claim the one that use it is the most cold

lemme stop for i get on my soap box

  • Awesome!!!

  • That was some DEEP Stuff

  • this video is great

  • This is DEEP

  • creative, thoughtful and well-performed

  • damn that was soo sad

  • Almost brought tears to my eyes.
