Awesome video, Holly! I still need to play DQ V and VI, and also finish playing DQ IX and then I would have played all the main DQ games. Watching this makes my want to dig out my old Dragon Warrior NES cart and play it again. lol

I really enjoyed DQ IV (DS version) - it's second favorite DQ game and it's also one of my all-time favorite RPGs.

Ive only played nine and its my favorite ds game so far(i only have 4). A local game shop is selling the japanese DQ3 on the famicom. I dont have a famicom but I need to get that.

Good Overview. I think I own all of the DQ games in some form too. I wasn't able to get the plush for DQ6,but I live in the western US so I was able to meet Yuji Horii and get him to sign my copy! it was very exciting, especially seeing all the hardcore fans present.

BTW: For all those playing Dragon Warrior 1 for the first time, DO NOT tell the Dragon Lord that you want to join his evil minion of the dark. Your screen will go red and you have to reset. I made that mistake when I was 11 because I was so nervous when he was talking to me! I didn't have the spirit to go back and defeat him until I was an adult, it really crushed me.

My friend borrowed my Dragon Warrior 7 years ago and never gave it back. Don't know how to contact this guy, and now the game goes fro crazy money. I was always a big fan of this series growing up. Made me weird when everyone was so into Final Fantasy, I was always a Dragon Warrior/Quest fan. I am glad to see it got so revived and that we finally got the Super Nintendo versions we have been waiting for all these years.

Great video Holly. I always wanted to get into the DQ series. I did play a tiny bit of DQIX but never went back to it. Definitely going to track that one down so I can have it my collection. Then I'll go back to some of the others in the series.

This is also my favorite series! Closely followed by the Tales series and Kingdom Hearts. So far, my favorite is IV, but I just picked up VI, and so far it seems like it may end up being my favorite. It definitely has my favorite Main Character. I've played and beaten all of them except IX and VI and am currently working on both of them.

Of the games that got a release outside of Japan, I'm missing DW1, DW2, DW3 and DW4 for NES, DW1 and DW2 for GBC, DW Monsters for GBC, and both DW Monsters 2: Tara's Journey and DW Monsters 2: Cobi's Journey for GBC. I'm also waiting on my copy of DQVI for DS to arrive from Canada.

@OtokoSilver I can understand that. It is a step back in a way. You might enjoy DQX though when it comes out on the Wii or even DQVIII it is very similar to IX.

Good video Holly. Like the Final Fantasy series, we never got the first several games and the first one we got was VIII and therefore didn't have the roman numeral over here. I have all of the ones that made it over here, which are IV, V, VIII and IX and will get VI when it comes or else will import it. It was cool to see the lineage of the series through your descriptions and hope you enjoy DQ VI.

Holly - Thanks so much for this. The DQ series is my absolute favorite series of all time. For me they are the most enjoyable games and I never tire of them. I picked up DQ6 on release and am starting it tonight. Thanks for the DQ love <3
