  • Newstopia is one of the greatest triumphs of comedy of all time.

  • MOON FACE!

  • talking about your gen is the best and only show i watch on TV

  • Hahaha, I disagree Bert. Its highly unlikely that the record for the longest Academy award acceptance speech is going to be beaten at the Logies.

  • robbie at 2:02!!!!!!!!! he is sooooooooooooo cute!!!!!

  • I met him once, shit was insane.

  • HE'S THE BEST!!!!!!! :D

  • shaun doesnt need an award to tell me how good he is, best fucking comedian ever

  • Shaun is so entertaining and awesome, there should have been a repeat performance of this at this year's Logies. But I guess smart, funny, articulate comedians just don't win awards...they go to people like Karl Stefanovic..... :|

  • I wanted Adam hills to win at first, but then when it was Shaun, I couldn't help but be happy :D he's hilarious!

  • ha shaun at 3:32

  • 2:32 he pulls a U-y HAHAHAHA I LOVE YOU SHAUN MICALLEF! Someone please start a petition to bring The Micallef program back!!!!!

  • WHO THE FUCK DISLIKED THIS??? YOU MUST DIE.

  • All these so called comedians that are on tv today could only wish they were half as clever as Shaun Micallef! Bring back the Micallef program!!!

  • What a LEGEND! I adore Shaun Micallef and he was the only reason i actually found myself watching the Logies!!

  • The thing that really shits me is that Shaun hosted the Logies in 2000 and it was panned by just about every bloody critic in the country, but if he was to host them now people would love it. The thing is his humour hasn't really changed in that whole time. Am I the only one who thinks this?

Anyway, an award well deserved. Hoping he gets gold in 2011.

Long live the Prince of Aussie Comedy and may his humour never die!!!

  • Funny bastard

  • i heart bert newton

  • He totally deserves this!

  • Good to see the Channel Nine logo on the bottom right corner. Eddie Maguire's ego got the better of him and now Channel Nine is losing viewers to other networks. Couldn't happen to a better person.

  • 4 Logie losers voted on this video

  • Hahahahaha his walk at the end! Love it.

  • @4barbela That was how Groucho Marx used to walk when he was in a hurry to get away. Shaun is a big Marx Brothers fan

  • I love that this speech is basically a big fuck you to the Australian industry. Merely mentioning Olivier at the Logies would be enough to make one laugh from embarrassment, but he goes all the way and rubs their noses in it. Good for him. Australian television typifies that countries cultural mediocrity, and Shaun Micallef is one of only a very select few to ever overcome it from within.

  • @RoboDouche "cultural mediocrity"? Are you serious? This is pure troll bait.

  • @TheTelfie Perhaps I should have said pop cultural mediocrity, but no, not trolling. Film and TV in Australia are terrible, and music and literature aren't much better. Do you disagree?

  • @RoboDouche On that point I do agree with you.

  • @RoboDouche Hear-Hear!

  • lolz nice accent

  • Unlike Larry, i dont think Shaun holds hands with "his fellow actors".

  • Shaun will someday be looked apon as one of Australian tv's treasures.

  • @Drinapropriatetouch already is

  • @67675656565655656565 hahahahahhaha lolwut

  • I have said it before and I'll say it again. Shaun Micallef is a comedy genius.

  • all the other audience comedians, in their eyes, their like: thats GOLD!

  • I love how at the beginning all the loser are like "Yeahh.. :("

  • I love this.

  • Shaun Micallef is a legend

  • i downloaded one from the internet

  • brilliant. always has been and always will be one of the FUNNIEST men in australia. full frontal, micallef program(me), micallef tonight, newstopia, those bits on thank god you're here that he did and shat over most of the other 'talent', even talking 'bout your gen, anything he touches turns to great entertainment.

  • personally, i think he is cocky and tries too hard. I think Adam Hills is muchhhhhh better

  • @imfromaus Aaah dear. Each to their own, I guess, but if you've ever had the chance to speak to him, he is the most humble and layed-back guy. And his comedy on TAYG is no where near as good as his earlier stuff, if you're basing your judgement off that.

  • @p1CKLEpEPPERpIPER yehh, i havnt seen much of his stuff

  • @imfromaus Actually, let me reiterate. The comedy Shaun is FORCED to do on TAYG isn't very good. Occasionally he slips back into his old crazy self, but for the most part, it's very controlled.

I would highly recommend you to watch some of his Micallef Programme. That is excellent comic genius right there. Then, if you're a topical sort of person, try Newstopia (although it's not quite topical anymore).

  • I watched this on tv! Shaun deserved to win this, he's awesome!

  • Hey does anyone know the name of the sketch when Shaun is interviewing a tennis player (roz hammond) and he does all the animal noises (micallef Program season 2)??? Thats my all time favourite skit. Even better if someone knew where to find it on youtube:D

    Thanks!

  • WOO!!! Love him.. upset he didnt win gold but sooo happy for him!!! FINALLY!

  • best speach of all time.......in this context.

  • i loveee shaun micallef :)

  • whoa bert newton is still alive

  • LOL @ HIS WALKOFF

  • good on him, winning the Silver Logie for Most Popular Non Home and Away actor!

  • Didn't Rove and Tasma look good together. Hope she doesn't die too.....

  • As of typing this comment whoever gave this a dislike is a cold mutilated donkey with a brain of an ant and the sense of humor of a lego piece.

  • I bet more people have watched this than the actual logies.

  • GOLD !!!!! hahahahahaha

    He rocks

  • Shuan is a genius, i used to love watching him on newstopia, piss funny.

  • Should have won gold

  • Did anyone else get to see him perform with Stephen Curry this year at the Melbourne Comedy Festival? It was absolutely genius.

  • So glad Shaun and TBYG won three awards all up. Would've been good for him to win the gold logie though..

  • Brilliant!! Thanks for sharing this. I didn't watch it as I usually find these boring. But this was well worth watching!

  • that is so hilarious

  • This guy is AWSOME!!!!! best speach ever lol

  • why do the audience laugh? Are they laughing at the fact how intelligence people used to be 30 years ago and how stupid they are now?

  • @Malangsufi no, just at how "intelligence" you are now.

  • @simonsillitoe :intellegent, my bad, but what I said still remains the bitter truth.

  • @Malangsufi I didn't think the Olivier speech was terribly intelligent. It does show a half-decent vocabulary for a reasonably well read man and is grammatically correct. Stylistically it reads like someone attempting desperately to be poetic but coming off as simply melodramatic and pompous. The humour comes from how out-of-place that style is today.

  • 47 minutes? Lol, I'm pretty sure it was only about 6 minutes Bert.

  • @jimmyman91 sigh, watch again and you'll find Bert is talking about another acceptance speech that went for 47minutes.

  • Hey how is he a fag??? Why write such a mean comment???

  • Finally, someone actually worthy of winning an award. The sad sorry tripe we usually give acting awards too is a bloody joke... but Shaun, hes a legend.

  • nice speech

  • Funniest man in Australia - even funniest person in Australia - Hard to be dogmatic!

  • FINALLY! Recognition were it's due. Shaun is one of the few Australian comedians with wit and intelligence but still vastly under utilised by our media. Good capture halfgoon.

  • PURE awesome

  • Legend!

  • great speech

  • I love how Rove is already blacked out before it's even anounced, as if to say "...not you again this time, sorry buddy".

  • It's actually 1979 not 1977 :P

  • so glad rove didnt win again

use to love him but as the more trophies he was getting, the more he seemed so cocky

  • The voice-over says it is the first silver logie Shaun has won, but I believe he won two for "The Micallef Program".

I'm glad that cock-smoker Adam Hills didn't win. He fucken sucks.

  • Hey come one whats wrong with Adam hills??? Dont have to be so rude... little kids go on youtube

  • @hamishblakefan I'm sorry. It's just that Adam Hills, to me, is on of the most annoying non-comedians in Australia. He isn't funny. Everytime I watch Specks and Specks, he just says the lamest stuff, and you can just tell the whole thing is scripted to make him look good, which it fails to do anyway. When he was on Thank God You're Here, he relied on all the cheap laughs. And he keeps making lame Britney Spears jokes. It's like, c;mon. Write some new material.

  • Haha only Shaun would print his speech off the net.

  • shaun micallef is the best comedian presenter we have atm

  • home and away guy, thats awesome

  • I like him cos he acts kinda old school in the style of hosting, like the 50s tv show. thanks for posting!

  • I hate BERT

  • i have to start a facebook page to get shaun micallef to host net year

  • @webelonghere YES! do it! he MUST! I want to join!!!

  • Thank GOD for Shaun....whew!

What a dull and imbecilic place television would be without him.

  • He is freaking hysterical!!

  • @ausoul so he goes crazy when in panic?

  • @myshoescramp HAHA yes. yes I'm sure he does go crazy when in panic. He's also very funny

  • shaun is pure solidified awesomeness :D

  • Lol he's so clever ...

  • love the walk out. pure comedy at its best

  • He's the only personality on Australian TV worth watching IMO.

  • Champagne comedy..

  • What is up with Nat Bass' hair?

  • Oh If only I was a bit older and Shaun was a bit younger...

  • I flipped channels just in time to see Shaun's speech. I LMAO then and I'm LMAO now.

  • fantastic - missed it last night and everyone is talking about it.

    Love Shaun.

    I am thrilled.

  • I'm glad he finally won something

  • Best speech ever! Possibly even better than the original.

  • I am so happy about this. I've watched Olivier on youtube do this speech (many months ago and it's really over the top) and this is such a funny rip off.

Totally explains why he won. And I love how happy Adam Hills looks for him. His year next year.

  • lol he is awesome. his speech was the best ever, hilarious! go shaun & talkin' 'bout your gen!

  • must be seen as a beautiful star in that firmament which shines upon me at this moment, dazzling me a little, but filling me with warmth and the extraordinary elation, the euphoria that happens to so many of us at the first breath of the majestic glow of a new tomorrow

From the top of this moment,in the solace in the kindly emotion that is charging my soul and my heart at this moment,I thank you for this great gift which lends me such a very splendid part in this, your glorious occasion.Thank you"

  • Brilliant Shaun!

    Ta for the upload :-)

For those interested, here's the Olivier speech ->

"Mr. President and Governors of the Academy, Committee Members, fellows, my very noble and approved good masters, my colleagues, my friends, my fellow-students. In the great wealth, the great firmament of your nation's generosity, this particular choice may perhaps be found by future generations as a trifle eccentric, but the mere fact of it--the prodigal, pure, human kindness of it--...

  • Shaun rocks! Nothing against Home and Away guy but Shaun should have won the gold

  • @imowtflol ... hahahaha?... that was the sickest, un-funniest comment i've ever read on here.. i'm glad shaun won and i'm not a huge rove fan but that was just plain cruel, mean and dumb.

  • @imowtflol From what I understand, Tasma was 'Belinda-approved'.

  • @imowtflol

that's a fucking horrible thing to say. don't say such stupid things, you don't know anything about rove's personal life. how'd you feel if you lost someone you loved and were laughed at and ridiculed for it?

  • @stnic07 yes, ray only got that award because they pity him, just like the guy from blue heelers

  • Funniest man on TV!

  • The way he loses the escort at the end and pulls off a Chaser-patented 'Bonehead' is effortless. Classic Shaun.

  • Thank you for uploading this. I live in RURAL SA and we don't get Channel 9 here, thus miss out. Can you please upload the 'in remembrance' whenever it is aired?

  • @dogned Sorry, I've only recorded when I know Micallef's going to be on, so I didn't grab that bit. Hopefully someone in Perth might get it.

  • @halfgoon Hey mate, did you happen to record Mayer's performance also? I can't seem to find anybody who's got it.

  • @lincalinca Nup, only recorded when Shaun was on. There must be some Mayer fans out there who grabbed it!

  • He is the best person in the world.

  • @richardisvonstade Another one up just for you :)

  • @richardisvonstade I'll try :)

  • I didn't think all that much of Shaun until this speech --- it's sooo good, and it captures the full schmucky tinsel sense of the whole event

  • I bloody love him. Such a great performer. Congrats, Shaun.

    ...I LOVE YOU!! XD

  • Such fabulous delivery! If only everyone in television had such a spontaneous air about them. I love you Shaun <3
