  • i just tried this. fail. the image isn't big enough. you said fit to image size, but when i do it, it's still small and you can't see both images. help!

  • Thank you for the video! I found it really helpful. Sounded like Billy Boyd

  • thank you very much for this! Very helpful and appreciated

  • thanks alot!! i've learned my first editing skill today!!

  • very nice...this helped me greatly. i did have to delete a paste layer to start and actually add the layer dialog to the toolbox.

    cheers mate

  • Which gimp version do you have? I have the thin bar one so it doesn't work the same way

  • excellent vid.. my pictures look awesome....

  • Thank you very much!!! :))

  • Thanks a lot - this really helped! :)

  • thank you!! actually worked for me

  • Good video, better accent!

  • thank youuuu

  • You made it look so effortless. Tell the truth, it was a magic wand you were using and not a computer mouse! :D

  • Awesome you were a great help. Thanks.

  • Forget every time but I always come back to this video ;) Thanks!

  • Thank you so much for showing those 'tricks'!

  • Thank you very much for this video. I can't believe how simple it is.

  • Hi I got to the part where you said add layer mask. I did that dragged the line over, but it didn't do anything. How do I fix that? Thanks:)

  • I did it! Thank you :)

  • It never shows the little slide that has the different layers listed on it. :/ Gimp needs to make things easier, or i need to not be retarded. Either way, I can't find out where to find the layer tab that you have pulled up, I.E. backrounds and shit like that... Idk, I'm really angry right now lol

  • To avoid distorting the picture ratio, either press the LINK in the pop-up window, or press Ctrl while dragging the corner. It will keep aspect ratio of the sub-pic. You are doing steps in the wrong order; you need to:

    - 1 resize sub-pic

    - 2 place

    - 3 shrink picture to layers

  • thank you so much!!!

  • thanks a bunch, really helped me out and gave me some ideas for my problem :)

  • Ok first thank you for the video. Second, I have literally done everything you have done step by step to make SURE I didnt miss anything. Everything is fine until I get to the part where you click and drag the linear line to blend or add the gradient. The second pic disappears to black and adds this white line where I dragged the mouse? Is it my gradient settings? Is there a certain type to be using? What is your gradient setting set to? Im going to try and send you a vid of wht I did.Help?

  • @8779firestarter got your video and good to see you figured it out. it may have just been a software bug at the time

  • Wow. What a great video! I really, really needed this info, and you nailed it spot on! Thank you! Awesome. 5 stars!

  • Hey Dom, How do you get your images to open in that window. when I open any Raw image, it just goes to the photo editing window that gives me the basic editing tools. I can't seem to open them up in those other windows you have them in.

  • Thank You SOOOO much!!! This Helped Me A LOT!!!!

  • hmmm, not bad for a free photoshop

  • @pokexlilyx please make a video of what you are doing and ill see if i can see what you are missing.

  • uhhh not working

  • thanks for the help!!!!!!one of the best videos about gimp on you tube.

  • I wanna make one like the girl thats bending down in the background.... please make a vid

  • Thank you!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • I got up to the part where you put the pictures on top of each other, but then when I tried to blend it started to make large sections of the image a solid checker pattern. What am I doing wrong?

  • @Alis1Aquilae Instead of drawing the blending line to the right, draw it to the left. I was having the same problem and all you have to do is pull it toward the layer that you copied. Hope this helps!

  • @Alis1Aquilae Also if it is doing it when your adding the photo then try copying the photo with right click, then going to the pic your wanting to paste it to, then from there go to edit, paste as, and then paste as new layer. That should solve your problem.

  • THanks (:

  • thank you! love your accent too!

  • How do you drag the image mine just paints on the image

  • @dividebysanta use the move tool not the paint brush tool.... you are using that arnt you?

  • @Dombowerphoto Thanks I realise how simple it is now and feel like what an idiot I was, cheers anyway.

  • these GIMP vids are awsome Dom, a vid on how you sharpen and how to tell when you have over sharpened would be much loved. At the mo im decomposing to HSV and using unsharp mask on the value tab, then composing back but getting very mixed results.

  • i just tried to do this step by step and i failed really quickly ... CNTRL B would not work and then the layers pallet i couldnt find :-(

  • @death2man666 its control v

  • @Dombowerphoto OHHH hahaha WHOOPS sorry . B and V sound the same . THANKS

  • @death2man666 yeah like he said its control v, i didn't understand his accent either.

  • that was SOOOO confusing

  • i have photoshop, and have used gimp. photoshop has many many more tools x10

  • @skatebaker321 i would hope so for something that costs 600pounds compared to something that is free.

  • @Dombowerphoto i no just saying you said its the same, plus photoshop is only 140 pounds? so get pwnd

  • @skatebaker321 where can you get it for 140???? tell me as ill happily buy it at that price

  • @Dombowerphoto its $100 usd just dont get the package you rascal

  • @skatebaker321: The reason you can find it for $100USD is that's Photoshop Elements. I believe what Dom was referring to was Photoshop CS5, which runs around $900USD. There are a lot of features that the two have in common, and some things that only one or the other can do.

  • @ThisSideUpRegina oh lol i have cs4 i was looking at the upgrade price sorry for being an idiot

  • this was a great tutorial! thank you!! :D

  • GAH! You're brilliant! It took my friend 20 minutes to show me how to do this is PS and you do it in 3!

  • @SeanFilms was he a bad teacher or was photoshop just too damn complicated?

  • @Dombowerphoto A little bit of both :) I just started

  • Awesome, do you play with Photoshop too?
