@67675656565655656565 - yup - Sabbath invented the stoner/doom style, in my opinion. Sure, other bands did psychedelic type stuff too, but Sabbath made a new style of music with it. See the "Master of Reality" album, especially 'Sweet Leaf' and 'Children of the Grave'.

@tony93666 I see what your saying and I somewhat agree but I think because Sabbath's songs had a more political agenda I think it's more of personnal preference of wheather or not they really should be associated with Stoner Metal. I mean sure now that the genre exist we can go back see clearly that they fit that style but the fact that someone is actually getting high to their music rather than that being what the music was written for just seems more of a personnal choice of association to me

@briands1993 - yes, that was a term used for such heavy bands back then, like Sabbath, Sir Lord Baltimore, etc., because their music/subject matter were not uplifting but 'a downer'. (Despite being sometimes lumped in by some music critics, I personally do NOT consider Led Zeppelin or Deep Purple 'heavy metal' bands, even though both "The Immigrant Song" and "Black Night" do have a chunky-type riff on the low E string, they're more just like 'blues on steroids'. LOL)
