Ummmm, to drag race? Nothing wrong with having something different. It worthy of going on the dragstrip, if you watched a newer clip (this was '05). Hitting the strip again soon too.
Hey, check out some my more recent vid's, this ones from 04/05. I have chucked on some 17" semi slicks recently. Don't have traction issue any more, plus dialed it in a little bit more.
I now use a L300 diff / housing from a LWB L300, they have a bigger diff head and thicker axles. I got a company to turn the diff head into an LSD. I munted 4 standard diffs, this LSD has lasted 4.5 years, no problems. Oh yeah, i have been through 3 gearboxes, all that craps out are the bearings as they start whining. If caught early enough all you need to do is replace these. They arent designed for 7500rpm hehe.
oh sweet man cheers 4 the info, with the firewal it jst cuza the cam angle senser ae? and if i got big bad g/box bearings thn shuld b swt ae, oh and turbo haha jst spin in 180 on manifold or du ya gota make a manifold? cheerz 4 al ur help man bloody ledgned
hay mate, thinkn bout doing this conversion myself, is ur motor a standy vr4? i dont wana be popping g/box if i done it, and do the rwd engine mounts bolt on to the 4wd motor? sweet van!
Yes, standard VR4 engine. You have to modify the throttle body as it faces wrong way etc. Yep, same engine mounts. Problem is engine sits further back so you need to cut out the firewall.
Mint, which dragstrip you race at? Yep, i run a standard 2L petrol gearbox. Strange, i dont have any problems at all shifting, hits limiter at 7500ish, changes fine every time no matter where the rev's are..
why is that thing on a race track?

you could get more traction if you found with the right rear tire.

It weights aprox. 1300 kgs in default.
MarthyM 1 year ago
In all honesty i dont know if it weighs more or less. Disadvantage is the shape, brick like, so not very aerodynamic.

sick van man, does the l300 body weigh more or less than the 91 galant body?

Is it mouted in the back?
And one more question.
Are you using a transaxle or a diff?
Awesome conversion, just wondering how it works. =]
vspec2wrx 2 years ago
The engine is mounted in the front in place of the original one. Facing North/South.
It runs only rear wheel drive, and has a LSD diff.
Its a bit of fun :-)

It is running a 4G63 (2L) turbo engine from a 1991 Mitsubishi Galant VR4, with a TD0H5 Turbo. Factory Computer.

I was a Ruapuna. Yeh I might try another box, cheers for that bro. I will drop alot off my times when I can actually get gears lol.

I did a 14.8 today in my turbo L300 van. Do you run the standard petrol gearbox? I have huge problems getting gears at 7000rpm.
MrJoshTaylor 2 years ago
Did a 14.80. Not too bad considering its a brick and doesnt get much traction. only running 10psi.

what time did the van do
domaniking 2 years ago
Yep, that would be the same van. I still have the sounds in it too. Goes louder now than it would of back then.
