Hello mate, I watched your review on the Barnett ll crossbow but i can't find it anywhere for £250 approx...where did you get yours from?, all the best
The all NEW! 2011 Barnett Ghost 400 Custom w/quiver, four 22" Game Crusher carbon bolts, paper-sighted 3x32 illuminated scope, Cross Rope Cocking multitool and comfort-grip crossbow sling Retails for $999.99 we have them for $839.99 with free shipping.
I always liked the regular comando with the 175lb recurve which produced 245 fps..this compound version one you have i read produces 265 fps...But the new barnett crosbows produce between 315 fps and 400 fps...the only disadvantage is the stirup cocking verses the stock lever cocking which is really cool
There is no recoil on a crossbow. it has forward momentum and no gasses or moving parts traveling backwards towards the user. there is no recoil. common sense, come on people. it may have a little jolt though when you shoot it because the string is releasing from being under a lot of tension, but technically that is not recoil. very nice crossbow though, i like the self cocking feature.
@wufwufwufwuf , as far as i know i've never heard of any power restriction laws on crossbows, so i would say you should be able to buy any power crossbow and shoot it on private property, just don't hunt with it as that is illegal
That cocking mechanism is pretty sweet. Did it come with that or was it an upgrade? Also, a few states here in the US allow crossbow hunting now. Although you do have to pay a little more for your hunting license.
@jakmeoff1 , you don't need a licence to own one, however its illegal to hunt with a crossbow, but fine for target shooting, and you can get them from £75 for one the same power as this, this one was around £250.
Great video man. The Commando II sells for a whole heap of money today - it is a collectors item particularly when noting it had military applications. Plenty of folks collect this type of stuff. I am planning to sell my own Commando II and see what I can get for it.
There may be some occasions one might choose the crossbow over a rifle or a shotgun when all are available. For one thing, it is probably less noisy when fired. (Unless your rifle is a small caliber and equipped with a supressor.) Also, a crossbow bolt can create an horribly grievous wound inside its effective range.
i use to have the original one and was very happy with it. i could break it open like a Winchester and cock it while under my arm and let 5 bolts fly into target in a minute. Very accurate and now you have me thinking about this new version. Does it come in a heavier bow?
I have the Commando I which looks quite nice - but that's almost all that is positive about it: The material quality is crappy. The limbs can't be fastened as hard enough, the scope comes off way to easily and the cocking mechanism sometimes blocks when pushing it back after cocking. All in all a serious crossbow shooter won't pick a Barnett, but rather an Excalibur or a Tenpoint.
I wish I had this Barnett Commando 2 self cocking crossbow. I just bought the Barnett RC 150 and I'm quite happy with it however the self-cocking is missing on it. The design and appearance of RC 150 and Commando 2 quite similar. I really enjoy the self-cocking feature in my pistol Cobra crossbow. Thank you for taking the time and effort to educate me and at HQ at that.
Nice one. I got a 80LB Pistol crossbow but sometimes the bolt dosent stick in the yellow pages but it does penetrate. I think a lot of it is to do with the bolts I am using, aluminium bolts and the tips get blunt easy and become loose or bent.
looks like a nice crossbow , I have a cheap 60lb draw pistol crossbow ,which is O.K but yours looks even better ,might buy one after I finish paying for my car
No, in the instructions it shows how to do it yourself, what you do is put a longer string on it, and then cock it, you can then put a new string on the other Nocks (it has double nocks)

theboarman 1 year ago
ive neevr fired a crossbow, pardon for my ignorance but is there any recoil as u fire it
KaiserPotatoe95 1 year ago
@KaiserPotatoe95 , there is a small amount of recoil,but hardly anything, about the same as an air rifle,
WeaponCollector 1 year ago
@WeaponCollector Hey man what is the difference between a compound and a recurve crossbow?
LaddieGalicia 8 months ago
@LaddieGalicia , a compound has a shorter prod that's usually two parts and has pulleys, making it more compact than a recurve.
A Recurve crossbow has a one piece prod with no pulleys and usually has a longer prod than a compound.
The pulleys on a compound means it can be shorter, but just as strong as a recurve.
Compound = smaller with pulleys
Recurve = bigger, no pulleys
Sorry for the long explanation, just thought i'd try to give out as much info as possible.

@KaiserPotatoe95 Feels a small rifle like a 223 .
