I have the best of both worlds. Just sold an iMac and about to build a Hackintosh to take its place. I have a Macbook Pro as a laptop and it's the only one since I don't really like laptops. 3 Windows PCs, 1 is an OEM and 2 are custom built. I also have a MacPro which I was able to get cheap. One of my custom built rigs also has Slimpup loaded up on it and another partition for Ubuntu Studio. I personally think that my old OEM is faster than my supposedly superior iMac. Oh well. Custom built ftw

@davidslinuxshow This is true! I need to spend more time on linux to fully appreciate it, but I think the problem vista had was all the stuff OEMs did to their PCs. Like I've had Vista running on my custom rig as my primary OS until windows 7 came out, and I never had a single problem with it!
I'm a mac, because I LOVE spending 3X as much for the SAME EXACT HARDWARE. Also I couldn't manage to take some time on google figuring out how to properly maintain a windows machine so I just gave up and switched to OSX. I now LOVE how my OS is locked and I cant touch what apple doesn't want me to! I love being forced to buy over priced proprietary components because my manufacturer wont support anything else, it's the BEST!

Apple products are beautiful & I would never consider any other mobile than iPhone. However, right now, PC is for me. Reason being that I believe PCs are capable of more. At the minute, I use my computer for gaming & photo editing. At this time, Mac wouldn't work for me because they are restricted by way of upgrading (Unless you buy a pro) and are more incompatible. I know Mac does both of these things, but I think PC does it better. I would consider an iMac in my future for photo editing.
I love every Platform. I use windows because I am a gamer at heart. I know Steam is also for MAC and other games. But in Slovakia its easyer to find windows stuff then mac. :D
Personly i would never run MAC OS but right now i'm using a Macbook Pro 13". They have the best hardware. Run Win7 on it and you are in heaven. Been playing with ubuntu 11.10 on it, very very buggy but fun and fancy. MAC OS you are outdated.
I am certainly convinced that OSX is a much more efficient operating system. I have to own a PC on the side because apple has decided to go weak on video cards in the iMacs because of the mobile graphic cards which isn't good when I like running games on high/ultra settings... other than that I run my music production studio off of my iMac and love it.
I actually had the same understanding, I'm a person who builds my own pc's overclocks and all that good stuff.. And my argument when I was a PC user was Mac is for noobs because It's easy to use.. But I realized later it isn't necessarily a bad thing.. Now I can manage to do anything on Windows as I'my very computer savvy but being a Mac user since 2009 I honestly haven't gone back to Windows.. Overall for me Mac provides a better experience..
At this point in the game use what works! Windows 7 and OS 10.7 are very stable and if you're a web developer chances are you'll be on a mac(same goes for graphics or video editing). If your a software developer use both and have a linux partition to check or make sure it works on everything. OS X is amazing and I use it on a daily basis, I use windows mainly for game programming and general stuff. All major stuff that I do is done on OS X.
Apple use foxconn motherboards I have only used foxconn motherboards once and it died twice, I have owned allot of motherboards and only had problems with foxconn.
I have almost the same thing as WilsonTech1 had that i have never tried Mac, but i think there is not much of choice at least when you are a gamer. And i truly think that Windows 7 is best Win so far, but i would gladly try out something new. Very informative conversation!

Now all three platforms are relativity easy to use for me. I am just glade we all have more option. I like all three systems but I prefer Linux and Bsd over all others.

i remember the 90's when mac users were brutally mocked by pc users and apple nearly died...i literally got laughed out of an office supply store for actually asking if they carried a mouse for mac; i had to order all my add-ons from online computer suppliers(only a few offered mac products) online or apple directly. Its really all about you and what you need/want, watch some videos, some honest comparisons. look at the features of both and make an educated decision of your own
I have had no problems with Windows 7. No crashes, no BSoDs. (BSoDs are to do with hardware malfunction, not OS malfunction). So that argument can be rendered invalid...

@eventfularse Just saying, just because it works for you, doesn't mean it works for everyone else. Best is relative. There are hundreds of windows machines that each run it slightly differently.
@CybertronXStudios I'm not saying it does. But it is usually user error which causes problems with Windows. I keep files organised, run overnight AV scans, monthly defrags etc: Resulting in no problems with W7.
I admit though, trying to install XP on the recent PC I built was a nightmare. Typically because it's an old OS trying to run on new hardware. I had to slipstream SP2 into the install disc before I was able to get anywhere; which didn't really take long though.
@eventfularse BSoDs are related to hardware but occur because of the Operating System. They are usually because of the drivers or software that runs the hardware. A BSoD is a kernel panic. If a BSoD was only related to the hardware then you would get them OS X and Linux. BSoDs only happen on Windows machines.
@iMacMiniBookPro Then that obviously means these 3rd party drivers are poorly coded; and that the company who designed them needs to do something about it.
I've never had a driver related BSoD in my entire life! I had one about 2 months ago which was because I let my laptop overheat! It was stressing itself too much. That's hardly a driver problem, more like preventing the CPU from frying.
Of couse BSoD's occur only on Windows. But it isn't Windows' fault for the occurence.

A BSoD is always driver or hardware malfunction. It's not that Windows is badly coded in any way, it is usually poor driver coding or bad hardware, or possibly a bad installation. But I'm not saying that you get BSoDs on any other OS!

@Asturball my thoughts exactly, get a PC if you want to game. It's cheaper plays games native, and my Dell works great, plenty more powerful than a Mac that costs 3 times as much. It even runs scientific simulations in the background while I game @ 60fps. I use a gateway firewall just like Mac users should, and virus protection. I also don't use the admin account for regular use. Never had a problem, ever. I had one MP3 virus and that was my fault, and it was contained to the one file.
I don't see why people make a big fuss out of this. If you want a PC that is good for school and gaming then get a pc, yet PCs still suck with games. If you want a PC that is good for media and entertainment get a Mac.

I love how people talk up Apple, yet the iphone doesn't even do what all high end android phones do...Multi-task. i have a mbp 2011, i7 and all shizl, and a top of the line gaming rig.
my mbp is faster, works better and is able to play faking much games (steam XD)
mac has won man, win8 fails, os10 lion rocks, and mac has better specs now, and even games.
a mac has got gaming rig specs sometimes XD.
the price of a mac is caused by Apple making everything itself, not like MS wich is commercially based.
and it works better, and the support is better, so on.

i remember the 90's when mac users were brutally mocked by pc users and apple nearly died...i literally got laughed out of an office supply store for actually asking if they carried a mouse for mac; i had to order all my add-ons from online computer suppliers(only a few offered mac products) online or apple directly. It's much easier now.

I have had no problems with Windows 7. No crashes, no BSoDs. (BSoDs are to do with hardware malfunction, not OS malfunction). So that argument can be rendered invalid...

@CybertronXStudios I'm not saying it does. But it is usually user error which causes problems with Windows. I keep files organised, run overnight AV scans, monthly defrags etc: Resulting in no problems with W7.
I admit though, trying to install XP on the recent PC I built was a nightmare. Typically because it's an old OS trying to run on new hardware. I had to slipstream SP2 into the install disc before I was able to get anywhere; which didn't really take long though.

@eventfularse BSoDs are related to hardware but occur because of the Operating System. They are usually because of the drivers or software that runs the hardware. A BSoD is a kernel panic. If a BSoD was only related to the hardware then you would get them OS X and Linux. BSoDs only happen on Windows machines.

I've never had a driver related BSoD in my entire life! I had one about 2 months ago which was because I let my laptop overheat! It was stressing itself too much. That's hardly a driver problem, more like preventing the CPU from frying.
Of couse BSoD's occur only on Windows. But it isn't Windows' fault for the occurence.

I was simply pointing out that BSoDs are a malfunction of the OS, its a kernel panic. Regardless of which driver/hardware is the cause, its an error that occurs between the OS and the hardware. I brought up OSX/Linux (which also have Kernal Panics) because they do not have "blue screens" when this occurs, only Windows; so just relax.

A BSoD is always driver or hardware malfunction. It's not that Windows is badly coded in any way, it is usually poor driver coding or bad hardware, or possibly a bad installation. But I'm not saying that you get BSoDs on any other OS!

Windows have the same problems for years, security, stability, not so much intuitive... It eats the fucking hardware for doing stupid shit like defrag the hard drive, anti-virus anti-spam, batt life sux real bad in ANY laptop if not a giant beast, and the performance drops so much, etc etc etc...
You talk shit about mac is expensive but you spend a thousand fucking dollars on just a CPU to run "kind of good" your OS for 2 years, so don't talk about price here.

@Asturball my thoughts exactly, get a PC if you want to game. It's cheaper plays games native, and my Dell works great, plenty more powerful than a Mac that costs 3 times as much. It even runs scientific simulations in the background while I game @ 60fps. I use a gateway firewall just like Mac users should, and virus protection. I also don't use the admin account for regular use. Never had a problem, ever. I had one MP3 virus and that was my fault, and it was contained to the one file.

I love how people talk up Apple, yet the iphone doesn't even do what all high end android phones do...Multi-task. Chris always says that Android needs to mature and not put out devices that can't do everything that it should do well, when apple itself does that. But he talks up apple products like they are flawless. Ipad 2 is a prime example. The camera sucks on that thing. And chris says "well, it wasn't designed to be a camera" So, why put a camera on the fucking thing?!

i like this wilson dude how he's honest and kind of modest, he reminds me of myself. I disliked Apple to because somewhere in my head I knew it were good products, I was afraid to like them. And the longer you hate them, the harder it get's to switch. But I made the switch to Mac and iOS and it's the best decision I've made in my life in terms of computers/tech/electronics.

seeing as you can install both mac os and windows on EITHER machines.... you should indeed choose for the device you LIKE.
apple should just make MAC OS 80 dollars and release it on the market for pc as well! their sales would sky rocket as there would still be people buying imacs for their design/simplicity!
