If you were to connect the projector to a computer which collected real time information from a GPS and/or static port and pitot tube and got the projector to display that live information, would it work in an aircraft?
A question: How well does this work with ground targeting? For example, if you need to set the designator on a ground target using the HUD symbology, do you find it is easy or even possible to make the HUD and the external view "agree" or sync with each other? Thx, and again great work!
Hi, have any references to how the HUD computer or Symbol Generator works and presents data? (I'm interested in the layout of the system architecture.) If not no worries. Really cool video!!
I'm starting to work on the same type of setup but am having trouble finding HUD glass or the frame like the A7 setup you have. Where did you find these? Thanks!
Hust one thing, is the final piece of glass semi reflective or something? Just wondering how double images are eliminated and whether the type of glass required is readily available?
This 'final piece of glass' is an original HUD glass from an F-16 A model. It is about 2 inches thick, and has a special coating on the pilot's side. It shows absolutely zero ghosting (double images)... amazing.
AHh, thanks I suspected so. Would love to know what sort of coating. Can you see if it has coloured tint and if so does colour change with viewing angle?
excellent working

Hi,
Me and a friend have been wondering..

Just an idea..

Really nice... does that A-7 projector have a smaller projection radius than an F-16's hud would normally have?
Great stuff.

why don't you spend all that money actually getting a pilot's license, or join the air force

@espguitarist ; Why would you care ?

how much did this cost in its entire expense
Marcus4president 2 years ago
@espguitarist because you can't keep an F-16 in your house?

I found both via one-time sources, using a network of F-16 cockpit builders.
