With the car in gear at like 3-4k rpm (or higher if you dare), turn the key to turn the battery off for a half a second then turn it back on, it should go bang very loudly.... It's sucking unburnt fuel into the exhaust when the battery is off, then when you turn it back on it ignites everything... But don't do that too often, unless you like breaking things.

it is an ae86 zenki trueno coupe. the ae86 came in 4 versions excludeing the engines your body styles stayed the same there was the zenki = older version and kiouki = newer version that was easy to tell from tail light then you had your trueno coupe and hatchback along with the levin coupe and hatch back. that is the body style they stayed the same all the way threw the only things that really changed were tail lights and bumpers. with corollas the gts was the highest version you could get

Misfiring systems are systems used on turbocharged cars to keep your turbo constantly spooled so there isnt turbo lag.

Backfire can be multiple things, the car can be damaged/something is functioning incorrectly. and its usually the car running rich.

Or it can be something as simple as removing a CAT and performance modded cars are known to do it as well.

Both make flames but for different reason, and a misfiring system is usually more unique in it does alot of very quick pops rapidly.

Ever see a spark plug go bad? or try to run an engine on 3/4 or 7/8 plugs?? yeah 1 piston wont ignite. building fuel. and ALOT more pressure. cause Piston Rings and seals to go bad. after that being said. the other pistons will carry the slack. put even more stress on the engine.

85's suck because they have the 3a-u 2v carb sohc, no lsd, drums in the back, and a softer suspension. (86's have 4a-ge 16v efi dohc, optional lsd, discs all around, and a stiffer suspension.) Trannies are also different.

its not a ms imo, usually people put them on turbo set ups because of lag. i never head of anyone doing it on na engines. i personally think you put the ae101 engine in and ran it rich so excess fuel is burned after the exhaust is let out of the engine and you just run at cat-less exhaust.

I lied. Sorry. I mixed the two up. It's not a screamer pipe, it's as the other guy said, a rev limiter. They do little more than make alot of noise.

Now that I think about it though, he/she wasn't at full RPM's, so why would it be doing that? Unless the person just popped the clutch and revved it for a little show, in which case it could be a rev limiter. I dunno, ask a mechanic :P

It's just a screamer pipe. It uses an external wastegate and then sends the built up air from the wastegate through a pipe all the way to the back of his exhaust where it connects just past the cat converter. It's useful for getting rid of turbo lag, but due to how loud it is, is illegal in tons of places for street use.
