  • Jeff, I'm a big fan. Very relevant info and demos. Have a good 'un.

  • Hi Jeff. I want to thank you for the high quality, and well documented reviews of firearms and their accesories. You do a great job and keep it up! I also enjoy the choice of weapons that you have and the reviews are short and sweet.

I also want to say that I apologize for the rude and incensitive comments by a few bad apples.

I want you to know, since I live in CA, I live vicariousely through your awsome reviews of firearms! Thanks again.

  • i am also a left handed shooter, and was wondering if you find that it is worth spending the time and money to seek out left handed rifled, or do you just shoot standard configuration and deal with it?

  • I have no problems at all shooting right-handed rifles. Sometimes, a blowback-operated semi-auto 22 will pepper my face with burned powder, but centerfirte rifles are no problem. Just avoid right-handed bullpup rifles.

    Jeff

  • @plankbird If you like bullpups, and have the money, get a FS2000 by FNH. Lefty friendly besides the charging handle

  • between the scar and the bushmaster acr which would u prefer good sir?

  • I prefer the SCAR.

    jeff

  • discarding any AR or AK based weapons, what rifle would you take with you to war?

  • FNH SCAR 17

    Jeff

  • @lobzdik ptr 91 GI! theyve been having problems with weapons/ scars hitting 5,000 rounds through rilfe and having to install a new internals. look it up on the forums!

  • Hey Gimli where is Gandolf?

  • Illegal where I live :[ and awesome scope

  • Illegal where I live :[

  • What is the recoil like, considering its a lightweight gun.

  • Very mild recoil.

    jeff

  • what length of barrel would you recommend for the scar 16s? which one do you find to be the most useful/ versatile/ durable?

  • The 16 inch is my favorite in the SCAR.

    Jeff

  • Assault rifles im geting when i get out of the army,

Bushmaster SCAR L or H, Bushmaster ACR, Steyr Aug, Cult AR 15

so be glad, cuz your taxes dollars are going to be well spent :P

what a nice gun hope you still have it 2011 cuz youll need it in 2012...

  • How come i never see you use eye protection?

  • I firmly close both eyes before I jerk the trigger.

    Jeff

  • @TheTacticalHouse Big boy rules.

  • that gun looks like it has so little recoil.

  • @diderr01 It fires a .223. It's a very low recoil round.

  • @diderr01 i haven't fired this weapon but having experience with the M16 (which has negligible recoil, imo) I'd say many people would be surprised how low the recoil is on these sorts of rifles.

  • @WinterXL

I have an AR, so I know how the recoil response is on them. The scar is different in its operation.

  • Is there a danger with rifles that have barrels that protude so far out that you might knock it and bend the barrel? (apologies if its a stupid question)

  • Certainly. A barrel is pretty strong, but it can be bent.

    Jeff

  • Do you sell guns?

  • No, we do not. Try lowpriceguns-dot-com.

  • Hey Jeff. What is your experience with that Muzzle brake? I've heard lots of good things about. (except for noise) I plan on researching more about PWS and their AR's. Maybe you can inform me! Thanks.

  • Excellent brake/flash suppressor. Very effective.

    Jeff

  • Hey Jeff!

Hope you are staying warm, then again you probably don't have any more snow on the ground from all those hot shell casings. ;+)

I have an EOTECH 512 on my M&P15, and was thinking about the EOLAD-2 for my Colt Sporter. Are they basically the same thing? Would you recommend it? Wonder why it is so cheap, considering it has more add ons? Thanks for your input!

Stay warm, from a fellow Tennessean!

  • I have no experience with that EOLAD sight.

    Jeff

  • @Gunblastdotcom Do you sell guns?

  • What's your take on the WASR-10?

  • It looks good, but i have not fired one, so am not qualified to comment.

    Jeff

  • $2600, I'd rather have a Stag model 8 or LWRC

  • That's why they make different kinds.

  • @Gunblastdotcom perfect answer

  • wow looks expensive hehe its better than acr

  • Which do you like better and why? The Scar 16 or the ACR?

  • I prefer the SCAR, but both are good weapons. I just like the handling and feel of the SCAR the best.

    Jeff

  • @Gunblastdotcom Have you ever tried a Robinson Arms' XCR? If so, what was your impression of it. If not, could you examine it? Now please everyone, I am asking Jeff this question. However, if anyone has had the chance to have personally tried and fired all three weapons, any input would be helpful. Thank you.

  • I have not yet fired that weapon.

    Jeff

  • @Gunblastdotcom Would you like to examine one? I loved your video on the FNP Tactical. I have the civilian stainless on black version. I love it.

  • I apologize for the delay in answering. I have been at Gunsite in Arizona shooting some new Ruger products all week, with no access to email.

Yes, I would like to shoot one of those.

    jeff

  • I honestly like this over the ACR

  • I would love to have a SCAR H, but the pricetag is painful to look at! Jeff, do u know of any good 308 combat rifles other than the M1A and the SCAR H?

  • The DPMS AP4 is an excellent choice. i have two of them. Very reliable and accurate.

    Jeff

  • alright a lefty! =]

  • Will the US adopt the scar as standard issue???

one thing i dont like about this gun it looks too much like a toy TBH

  • Who knows what the US Government will do? Certainly not I.

  • @karambiatos The U.S. did have a deal with FN for the SCAR, but dropped it due to cost. There are about 5,000 in the armed forces but that is it. Now the U.S. Boarder Patrole uses it.

  • Really like all the vids and articles. Did you ever do a test on a AR-180? I'd like to see that.

  • Yes, we have. Search our YouTube channel, and the Gunblast.com Archive page.

  • Wich weapon do you think is better, the ACR Bushmaster or the FN SCAR

  • I have no preference.

    Jeff

  • @legokid1593 i was gonna say look into a stag, i had a direct impengment one last year and i loved it, they have the lowest price on a piston gun too, since u are a lefty u r set all around

  • Barrel is WAY too long, but I notice the recoil is a lot less than the Kel-Tec RFB.. I know what I'm buying soon! :D

  • is it possible to use a drum mag on this gun

  • @TankFbs Yes they will take any AR-15 mags so that means AR-15 drum mags should work,

  • @TankFbs yes it is, beta c magazines fit ar 15s and this uses ar 15 magazines

  • How much did you pay for this rifle? I'd like to own one myself.

  • I did not buy it.

    Jeff

  • @MadHatter34784

    they cost ~$2,500-$3,000

  • Comment removed

  • @MadHatter34784 they cost too damn much, u would be better of with a piston driven ar, unless u just have to have one.

  • @davism4a1 Good point. I'm a lefty and I'm just going to trade in my current AR for the Stag Arms 8L.

  • @MadHatter34784 same here....the stag 8l is the way to go...

  • @MadHatter34784 one thing to remember though is that when winter rolls around...the short stroke pistons can be bad....it just depends...but several h&k 416's actually jammed shut because you cant move the piston without gas....but the great thing about the ar pistons is that you can take them out and you have a DI gun again. or you could just get an extra upper.

  • @fireball676 I also heard that some 416 had some parts crack along piston housing in cold weather during automatic fire stress test. Do not know if its is

BS i read it on a gun forum

  • @13fox32ndbgd They said that was coming out of the northern europe military customers....fortunately i dont think they were telling the truth...reason being is because they tested it in those conditions and actually purchased the contract....which leads me to think that they are lying...i saw that forum and they were all arguing on DI vs GP, the hard core DI guys were bitching and moaning over the offering of the systems...i personally like both and they both have their own application.

  • @MadHatter34784 it costs between $2000 - $3000 depending on the version and accesoires

  • Love the gun, have for a long while now. Wish i lived in the US of A :(

  • Comment removed

  • Gunblast is #1! No BS, just the straight scoop.

  • i love that gun lol how did u like it jeff? i was thinkin of savin up for one

  • I love it.

    Jeff

  • The SCAR-L(5.56x45mm NATO) and the SCAR-H(7.62x51mm).

One is a full-caliber battle rifle, and the other is a intermediate assault rifle.Very clever of FN to chamber the same overall pattern in a light and heavy caliber. What a shame they are legal in NZ but illegal in US.

  • I like your beard

  • he use a 7.62 mag??

  • @Buditokid no, thats just a vietnam-style (shorter) m4/m16 magazine (for 5.56)

  • @Buditokid No that was either a ten round or a 20 round for the 5.56

  • @skullcrusher7979 ok thanks brothaa....

  • @skullcrusher7979 theres no 10 round magazine on the scar-l, that is a 30 round M4/M16 type magazine that it uses

  • i'll be picking up a scar very soon. very nice firearm.

  • Comment removed

  • Will These be Produced in Large Numbers? So the price will decrease?

  • Yes, and I wouldn't bet on it.

  • hey jeff, on your personal opinion, whould you get the scar. or the new bushmaster acr?

  • I have not yet fired the ACR, so am unqualified to comment upon that.

    Jeff

  • @batkins852 go for the SCAR bushmaster acr seems to be a little over priced, as well inculding a bunch of useless features for a civilian

  • Any thoughts? thinking with my tx refund to get this (SCAR) $2900 or LWRC M6a3 $2200? Love the SCAR look and what i've heard, but also heard LWRC just rocks...

  • I would get the SCAR.

    Jeff

  • Thanks Jeff, I did, I picked one up at the gun show in VA Friday night for $2600. They were few and far between but they are selling from basically 2700-3500, so I got a good deal. Hope to get to the range soon!

  • That's an interesting accent.

  • know your gun laws. 16" or longer

  • but it looks stupid as shit

  • whats the barrel thickness on the SCAR 17 cqc?

  • I do not know.

    Jeff

  • thanks for the reply, keep up the great vids!

  • I think I would be better off with 1 AR15, 1 AR10, 1 Glock and spend the rest of the money on ammo. Those things are pricey.

  • @tripmatt1 I went with the 7.62x39 Colt AR/ Colt AR-15, Glock 22, but I Couldn't agree with you more!!!!

  • Wow, I've lived just a few miles away from this guy for many years and have even met him a few times.I never knew he had a youtube channel, what a trip. The videos are very well done,I think I just might subscribe.

  • I really like the modular design of this rifle (as per the specs for which it WAS designed) but it's oh-so-pricey. I just...can't get over the fact that I could get a Glock, a decent 1911, a decent shotgun, and an AR variant for the same price.... That being said, it's still a very 'cool' rifle, to be sure.

    Another good vid, Jeff.

  • I would love to get one of these. Instead of splatting 900 here and there with RRA and DPMS, I think I am just going to save up for one of these.

  • I'm waiting for the Bushmaster ACR instead.

  • keep waiting its been like 3yrs.

  • They're saying it should come out in like the first half of next year. But then again they kept changing it last year as well.

  • ..........:), i hope you get one .

  • Um, they have been available for over a year. Ive had one for 6 months. Paid $2400, worth every cent.

  • A Bushmaster ACR?

How did you get one when they're still saying release date is first or second half of 2010?

  • Jeff,

sort of off topic question, but what brand bench rest are you using?

  • nie ive been meaning to lookin into one of these

  • Umm.. have you ever shot an AR? You do damn near everything besides pull the trigger with your reaction side. Manipulating the charging handle, bolt release, etc. is all done while keeping your shooting hand on the weapon grip. SCAR is no different.

Go watch an AK reload if you want to see how akward right side charging handles are for right handed shooters.

  • Hey guys. No need for the thumbs down. I have extremely limited experience with semi-auto's seeing as I live in Australia and was asking a simple question out of ignorance.

Thanks Kalmar01 for your reply. I'll definitely look at those video's you suggested. Guess this is another learning experience for me :-)

  • If your right handed...naturally you will hold the pistol grip with the right hand and support the barrel with your left. You don't want to take your hands off that pistol grip when changing mags and charging a new round. Keep the left hand doing all the work...while the right hand supports the rifle once it's ready to shoot.

  • I had no feeding problems at all. A right-hander usually uses his left hand on the charging handle, but the handle can be easily switched to either side, depending upon your preference.

    Jeff

  • Looks alot like the Remmington\ Bushmaster ACR aka Magpul Masada.

  • Comment removed

  • I can't wait to see the SCAR 17. That buttstock is PIG-UGLY but so versatile!

  • pretty sweet lookin gun

  • Is it seriously worth the thousands of dollars it costs?

  • To some folks it is. Depends upon your income and how badly you want one. To some folks, $3000 is nothing. To me, it is a pretty good wad of money.

    Jeff

  • Hey Jeff...what is that long slide with the lever on the left side?

  • I think you are referring to the bolt release.

    Jeff

  • Well it's right above the bolt release and to the left. Actually after looking again, I see that it's the actual bolt. Instead of having a charge handle (first look I didn't even notice and assumed it had the ar style charge handle).

Man that thing looks like it's made of plastic, even though I know it isn't. I think it's that nice desert paint job.

  • nice :D

  • I want one.......heck, I want two!!!!

  • ill wait for the Bushmaster ACR

  • Please do! One more SCAR for me :D

  • is that a leupold mark 4 on a 5.56? a little overkill for a scope on a carbine isnt it?

  • Read the review. This rifle is that accurate.

  • I want one..too bad I live in Kalifornia

  • y don;t u move out of that place?

  • looks liek it has a nice trigger pull what do these run ? i cant find anything on the net abt them i wish the bbl was a lil heavyer

  • Current MSRP is about $3000.

  • wow 0.0 thats a little too much for me right now lol

  • do you think you can put any of them 22 converion in that gun or is that gun way diffent from the other ar15

  • no, the SCAR has a slightly different bolt system than an AR, so 22 conversion kits for an AR would most likely not work

  • It is very different. So far, no .22 conversion is available.

    Jeff

  • Beautiful weapon, ashame it's so expensive for civilians. I'd rather get this sort of thing in 7.62mm, so it's probably the FNAR for me unless the FNH-USA SCAR-H is released to civilians soon. Thanks for the video Jeff!

  • @ethosflux

The Heavy (17S) is supposed to be released sometime this summer.

Prices for the 16S are now $2300-2400 if you know where to look (I know a place that sold 12 for $2400 shipped back in November).

  • The SCAR looks quite promising. If the prices go down, I would certainly buy one.
