I myself have never been to a convention. But from what I understand it's like a huge meet up where people basically celebrate Anime, Manga, and Japanese Culture and the main thing is dressing up as Anime/Manga characters but you don't have to. And there's different events through out the days of the convention such as dances, skits, contests, and other events depending upon the convention your attending.
